Once a month, I oil and wax my John Boos Block, since its a really large cutting board, quite expensive, and its important to protect it and take care of it. The essential mystery oil goes on easily, penetrated the wood and wipes off nicely. Whatever oil theyre peddling seems to get the job done. The board cream (wax) was tough to work with. Its hard to squeeze out of the tube (and good luck getting it all out!), and goes on thick, with a lot of wasted product when you wipe it off and inevitably go through about a dozen paper towels before the surface isnt still noticeably waxy. I switched to Clarks cutting board wax with round applicator and I have a MUCH easier time applying a thin even coat with almost no wasted product. I highly recommend Clarks over John Boos for the board cream, but the John Boos cutting board oil is perfectly fine and inexpensive and should last quite some time.

We put in butcher block counter tops recently. I decided to use Boos because it is nontoxic and made with bees wax. Water beads up, it was easily absorbed and easy to apply. The wood grain looks really nice. Because the countertop was new I applied the wax several extra times as my environment is very dry.

Good penetration and I used it on my other wood cutting boards. Brought them back to life. Used it on our wooden high chair and it really looks good now.

I say second stage because this is used after the first stage is applied with BOOS Mystery Oil on all surfaces top, bottom, and sides of my two large BOOS Cutting Blocks. A thin coat of oil is allowed to stay on the block for at least 8 hours and better if 24 hours, then wiped off with paper towel. The BOOS Block Cream is rubbed in on all surfaces and also allowed the same time to penetrate and wipe off. This leaves a water resistant beeswax coating on the wood. Both of my blocks are end grain and the oil/cream penetrates them well and are much kinder on the sharpness of my expensive knives. I service these blocks at least once a month and they stay in like new condition. Highly recommend these BOOS products.

This Mystery Oil is and Board cream is perfect with the Boos cutting board. Keeps the board looking fab. No smell and a must to condition the board. When you own a great BOOS cutting board this will help you maintain the beauty of the board.

I love that the oil and wax comes in a set! I use both about once a month on my boos block cutting board and it definitely helps keep the board moisturized and prevents cracks.

Look at my pictures posted with my review. They speak to the quality of this product better than my review could. The oil, combined with the cream, has brought back the life of my cutting boards and restored them to their original finish and luster. My boards are also nicely sealed, moisturized, and have extended lives thanks to this. I was also able to use the product on all of my wooden utensils and wood handles on my knives. I had a knife that was years...YEARS old, and the handle had changed from a light, dried up wooden handle to a dark, rich wood that had drunk the oil & cream. My other expensive japanese shun knives with walnut pakkawood handles look brand new. I did two rounds of oil. I applied the first coat in the evening, let dry overnight, then the next morning applied a second coat of oil to allow it to soak in all day. Then that night I removed the excess and applied the board cream to finish it off and left to soak overnight. In the morning I removed the excess and all of my kitchen products look amazing. LOVE THIS!

Good product but the cream gets used to quickly. Other oils are cheaper and I believe just as effective
