I bought the Boos board for my daughter, who has been using an old warped board of a lesser quality. Maintaining your board your board is Easy - but you have to commit from the very beginning. What better way to treat a new board than to use what the maker uses? They know that board & its needs. We’ll treat it together initially so she knows what she needs to do. I hope one day, her granddaughter can inherit that board as a well treated heirloom.

My sons made me a custom cutting board for all my heavy cutting. Like Turkey, tri tip, ham ect... When he seen his dad using it he said you need to oil and condition it so b it can last forever. I immediately ordered this set because I want it to last forever. I watched the video and did exactly as they suggested. I bought enough for a life time, this stuff is amazing.

Since I love to cook and have Global and Wusthol knives, I had started to look for a good cutting board. As it turns out, my roommate has a cutting board that was made for him by a high school class whose teacher served with him in the Marines. The board has feet, is 1-1/2 inches thick and is 12 x 18. He had no idea what he had and had stuck it in a cupboard under the stove. I had a handyman sand it down since someone had gauged it with a knife. Although he went ahead and oiled it and put cream on it, I started using the Boos Mystery Oil. I could be wrong but I think the proper way to do this is to squirt a lot on the board and use your hand to spread it around. I think I wasted some time in using a paper towel to do this because I was simply not leaving enough on the board. There will probably be places that soak up the oil faster than others. Just go back and spread it around some more. I am also using it on the underside of the board along with the feet. Do not ignore the edges. That is probably where it will start to warp if at all. Anyway, I am just going to keep adding the oil until the board cannot absorb more and then use the cream. I will then maintain once a month. I read where someone said that it was a chore to do this. Huh? It is actually relaxing and enjoyable to see it deepen in color. I am sorry that some people appear to have received counterfeit versions of this based on their reviews. Mine were perfect and do not have any odor. I really could not be happier with the product. When I move and have to give up this cuting board, I am sure I will buy a John Boos walnut and maple block.

This product is easy to use - apply a thorough coat, allow to soak in overnight, then buff with a clean cloth. It does a fantastic job of refurbishing and protecting wooden items. I used it on a dough bowl, several cutting boards and serving boards. It works like magic!

Is Mystery Oil really that much better than standard food grade mineral oil thats 80% cheaper? Almost certainly not. In fact I dont know that the composition is any different (its not listed of course). Boos blocks dont come from some magical forest and require unicorn blood for proper maintenance. Naturally theyll recommend their own product, which pads the bottom line. See also: printers and ink cartridges ... Knowing that, I bought it anyway, along with the board cream. I reasoned that as much as I spent on my Boos block, and in consideration of reported issues with splitting and/or warping, I might as well try it as insurance if nothing else, to show that I explicitly followed maintenance instructions in case something does go awry. FWIW, a little goes a long way and this bottle looks like itll last a long time. After that, Ill likely switch to generic food grade oil, but I think its worth it once at least.

Would only use Boos products on our Boos boards. We have a couple of cutting boards and a full sized Boos butcher block table and the quality of craftsmanship is unsurpassed. The Boos brothers company knows how to take care of their blocks with these products. Easy to apply and last quite a long time. Would not buy any other product for out blocks.

I have a 10 kitchen island, it wouldnt let the picture post & I used the oil & wax, I purchased a cherry unfinished. I did not spend a fortune on it, but it came out gorgeous! I just ordered more oil & wax to keep it up. It really holds up beautifully & i even usd it on a family heirloom rocker that is over 100 years old & it looks beautiful too. It does everything it says it does.

Look at my pictures posted with my review. They speak to the quality of this product better than my review could. The oil, combined with the cream, has brought back the life of my cutting boards and restored them to their original finish and luster. My boards are also nicely sealed, moisturized, and have extended lives thanks to this. I was also able to use the product on all of my wooden utensils and wood handles on my knives. I had a knife that was years...YEARS old, and the handle had changed from a light, dried up wooden handle to a dark, rich wood that had drunk the oil & cream. My other expensive japanese shun knives with walnut pakkawood handles look brand new. I did two rounds of oil. I applied the first coat in the evening, let dry overnight, then the next morning applied a second coat of oil to allow it to soak in all day. Then that night I removed the excess and applied the board cream to finish it off and left to soak overnight. In the morning I removed the excess and all of my kitchen products look amazing. LOVE THIS!
