Excellent quality. For years Ive had continued headaches with the plastic jugs with safety spouts. Failing, leaking...you name it. Finally decided to get quality, and these are the real deal. Love them. Going to get some for diesel too.

IMO, the old-style military surplus jerry cans with a reversible goose neck nozzle/lid like my dad had were the perfect gas cans. Then the nanny state decided gas cans needed to be redesigned to keep gas vapors out of the air. As is too often the result of government meddling, the result was cumbersome gas cans that cant be used without spilling gas. The result of which was even more gas vapor in the atmosphere! Even worse, to make the approved cans usable they literally had to be broken! So, for years I made do with what was available, while always on the hunt for something better. Was aware of the Justright line for awhile, but was put off by the price, but tiring of poorly designed cans and needing a larger volume can, I finally took the plunge. Should have done it long ago. The Justright not only meets the new government standards, it works like a real gas can. The design is complicated and expensive, but the can is built like a tank. It is easy to use (albeit not as easy as a jerry can) and the version I bought even has a goose neck nozzle. Only have one now, but plan to add at least another, if not more. Highly recommended.

The one thing I DONT want from a gas can is a leak... so I ordered this Safety Can from Amazon. The flex hose attachment arrived defective and I contacted JUSTRITE customer service. A nice lady wanted pictures of the defect, which I eventually provided after several tries at sizing a JPEG that would transmit. She said they would send a replacement. That was three weeks ago. Still waiting. Sent a follow-up email. Still waiting. As for the defect... if you are interested: The can arrived with the flex hose (spout) unattached (I think, to simplify packaging). Okay with me... so far. The separate flex hose package contained a cork gasket and two screws. Should be a simple matter to turn two screws and secure spout to can. The flex hose has a spiral spring attached at the base (I think, to relieve strain at the attaching point- not a bad idea.) BUT... the spring seems to be an after-thought... an add-on... and it is attached to the flex hose flange with a rivet that occupies one of the screw holes. Its a through-rivet and accommodates the use of the screw, but shortens the reach of the threads... AND... the rivet itself lifts one side of the hose flange slightly from the face of the flange on the can. This lift necessitates using more torque on that screw and, I think, crushes the cork seal on that side in order to affect a seal. My years of aviation and watercraft maintenance work and my training and experience as a Safety Officer makes me leery. The flange faces should go flat-on-flat with a good gasket between. But... okay... Ill try. I think-- They must have tested this design. BUT... then I notice that the flex hose flange, which SHOULD be flat, is slightly curved or bent. Now I see that Im going to try to attach a bent flange with a designed-in lift to a flat flange on the can. Thats where I balked at trying and asked for a replacement... three weeks ago. The can sits idle in the meantime. So I just ordered and paid for a replacement flex hose from Amazon. Now this can cost me an extra twenty bucks, but at least I may get to use it. Ill reserve final judgment... until after I get a hose attached and pour some fuel. Meantime... two stars for the JUSTRITE.product (the can LOOKS like it will serve... and two stars for JUSTRITE customer service (they did respond... just didnt follow through in a timely manner. But they were nice.) (ALSO KNOW THIS--- Amazon will not accept this product return... even unused. That bit of info should be displayed in bold type. But it is displayed... so fair enough.)

As many other reviewers have said, this can is head and shoulders above any of the plastic junk out there. Rock solid. I love the flexible spout with the squeeze handle -- makes for excellent control when pouring and no spillage. I have had the two gallon version for years and its still going strong. No rust. No leaking. I love it. Someone asked a question about a cap, and got (politely) trounced by a few folks who said (correctly) that the cans valve is internal and wont spill. But it still needs a cap. Why? Because one day I went out to my garage to fill up my pressure washer and found a spider inside the spout tube, along with some other dead bugs the spider had apparently eaten. The cap isnt needed to stop gas from getting out, its needed to stop bugs and other crud from getting IN. My review remains a 5, because this is a minor thing. But its still a thing...

I was a little disappointed when my brand new gas can with 5 gallons of fuel in it was leaking gas due to the outside ambient temp. It was in the back of my truck for about 3 hours at about 75F - not in direct sun. When I grabbed the can to fill the dirt bikes, I was surprised to smell the gas and see a steady stream of gas (coming from the filling hole) that was running down the bed. Since then, I only put about 4.5 gallons and viola...no spillage even in the heat. Also, the lever to release fuel for dispensing rubs against the solid handle and gets stuck every time. So, I have to release the dispensing lever a few seconds before I reach the desired volume. Its not really safe or convenient. Not exactly what I was expecting for the price of this can. I contacted Amazon, and they are sending me a new unit. Ill be sure to update this review when I get to test the new can. Im hopeful that my can was simply defective. Thank you Amazon for being so easy to work with on this issue. NEW CAN UPDATE: Well, the same applies to the fluid volume. This should be re-labeled as a 4.5 gallon cannister. The good news is that the new unit doesnt have a faulty lever like the previous cannister. All things considered, this is still the best gas can Ive ever owned and would recommend you to purchase it. Its a 4 star at this point because I cant speak to its durability. Ill update this review in a few years.

Bought can originally for diesel fuel. After ordering I realized my tractor manufacturer specifically warns against diesel fuel in galvanized can. Product is nonreturnable, so I use it for gasoline for my zero turn mower. I dont store gas in this can. I make sure to use it first when I fill my gas cans. They warn against storing gasoline in galvanized cans also because of the zinc. Nice can, easy to use. Not for storage.

This gas can is solid. I love it. But two years later, I went to purchase another - same exact model - and price had increased by 80%. Wow. So I opted to look around for an alternative.

I read some of the negative reviews. Honestly, if you can load a 30 round AR magazine without shooting yourself or developing some sort of thumb tendon snivel, this diesel can is the way to go. Easy fill easy pour. Stable in transport and does not leak or allow odor out. The people who whine about the safety screen probably also are the type that still need shampoo instructions (lather. Rinse. Repeat). The only down side is the round shape and the fixed spout. It occupies more space than a 5 gal jerry can, but leaks less. Candidly, if you struggle with this items usage, you should not be allowed around even minimally volatile fluids such as diesel. Its for your own good. Well made, good fit and finish inside and out, transports easily with the carry handle, pours easy just by pulling the spring loaded chrome handle, pours at a decent angle into a vehicle so you get all 5 gallons into the truck, fills easily as long as you can generally put a male nozzle into a female receptacle. (OK, clear your mind, dont think vulgar thoughts about petrochemicals). Spout fits every vehicle I have ever put it in.
