I design high-end LED lighting, so I perhaps a bit biased. In any case, I am satisfied with the Kandle, but it has some obvious improvement areas. Lets start with the good first. The light is a very nice small size, perhaps the size of a deck of cards. Its quite light as well. The grey one has a soft touch type of paint that has an almost rubber feel. I think this is nice. It definitely feels a bit more high quality than if it were not painted in this way. The light is sufficiently bright for most any situation that I have used it in. Now for the bad. It uses three inexpensive 5mm LEDs. These are the kind you see on very cheap flashlights at your typical store checkout register. They look a bit different, because they are wide-angle, which is why they have a flat top to them. You absolutely cannot expect much from these LEDs. They are no more than a few cents a piece and have typically very loose design tolerances. They also have a very poor color output. They are very cool in color temperature, which results in a blueish, light. This perhaps is not as critical for reading text, but a warmer color temperature may enhance the perception that e-ink is almost real paper. Another problem with these LEDs and the wide angle (typically 110 degrees) is that stray light goes everywhere. The Kandle is not very good for use in bed, or an otherwise intimate setting since you will likely be lighting anything within a 10 foot radius. To get the most even lighting, you need to tip the moveable head up quite far, which only exacerbates the problem. The Kandle has two brightness modes which are, in effect, useless because the brightest is far too bright to use in most situations. Something I found distracting is that the LEDs are dimmed using PWM, which causes some high-frequency flicker that becomes perceptible if you are moving in relation to the Kandle (ie. moving the Kandle, or walking by it for example). LEDs can be dimmed with a constant current driver, which eliminates flicker, but adds some cost the the driver hardware. One last problem is the way the light clips onto the kindle. The clip mechanism just isnt designed right to hold onto the Kindle 3G securely. Obviously, you shouldnt be moving much while reading, but youll need to be cautious moving you Kindle around with this attached. It would be impolite to post a critical review without some suggestions. I have a few that I think could make this a really good light. First, improve the LEDs. Much higher quality LEDs are available, and should be used. The increase in cost would be negligible. In addition, adding directional turning film to the lens is one method to control the light leaking to the sides, while keeping a uniform illumination of the screen. This film basically squeezes the light into a more shaped pattern - long vertically and narrow horizontally in this case. A wider range of dimming especially towards the low end is badly needed. I dont like using this in bed in its current state. The clip needs a more aggressive, but sticky material. Improving the mechanism shape could allow the Kandle to hold much tighter. Adding a rechargeable battery to the Kandle would be great. If I had to charge it no more than the Kindle (which would only require a very small battery with these LEDs) I would be very happy. Im not too fond of replacing and throwing away batteries. I would also make the on/off/dimming button easier to press. The current design is a bit tough to use ergonomically when the light head is open. All things considered, this light isnt bad. It probably is one of the best out there, which is good, but say a lot about the state of Kindle lights. I would definitely recommend it, as most people will probably not be bothered by most of what I observed.

Not much more to say that others havent said. Its smaller then you might think when compared to the photos on this site, and thats a positive in my view. I have it clipped on the top of my basic model Kindle. It provides more then enough light using just the low-level light setting. You can easily switch back and forth from high to low if necessary. You can read in total darkness without waking your spouse. It bevels up/down to eliminate any glare issues. And the coolest part for me is this; it makes reading more fun. From suspenseful to scary books, it helps create a nice reading atmosphere. For $20 buy it, I seriously doubt youll have any regrets.

Very lightweight and feels nice, almost velvety in texture. It stays put and doesnt slide around at all. The light is almost too bright at first. I bought so I could read at night without disturbing my husband and 2 year old who sometimes sleeps in our bed, but its so bright it almost lights up the bedroom as much as my bedside lamp. I find myself trying to angle my Kindle so that the light isnt shining in anyones eyes. But it slowly fades, so that after an hour or so of reading, I have to turn it up to the high setting to keep the bottom of my screen lit. It also eats batteries and Im a heavy reader, so its not practical to use every night. Ive gone back to using my bedside lamp most of the time. I still like it for camping, power outages, reading away from home, etc. But its the best ereader light Ive found.

I needed a light for my Kindle touch that would actually fit ON the Kindle. I also needed to be not too bright, because I wanted to read while I was nursing the baby in the middle of the night, and I didnt want it to wake him up. This light clips on via clamp, so it fits on my Kindle or on the case, and it has two brightness settings, so I can choose how much light I want/need. I find this incredibly useful. This is the third light I bought for the Kindle. The first one didnt work, and the second one didnt fit. This one was a bit more expensive than the other two, but since it works it was well worth it. I wish I would have just bought this one in the first place. I highly recommend it.

I was a little apprehensive on getting this light after reading other reviews. 2 things that were mentioned on other reviews, screw driver needed for battery change and the light could be accidently left on when closed. Well I suppose the manufacturer listened and rectified those issues as the one I received had a twist off battery lid (no screwdriver needed) and the light automatically goes off when closed and you cannot accidently turn the light on when closed! It was awesome for a short (4 days) hospital stay and also in bed at home (wife doesnt complain that the lamp is keeping her up.

I recently purchased a Kindle, and wanted a nice light to go with it. Despite all my friends advice, I decided against the official cover with light, and went for a regular cover and a Kandle II. I couldnt be happier with my decision. First of all, this product is very useful and in my opinion is the best at its job. It fits well on the Kindle, it illuminates the whole screen, and it has two levels of brightness. It even comes with a carrying pouch and extra batteries! If you were to change your kindle (or any e-reader) to one with different dimensions, you can still use the Kandle. You can even use it with regular books that are not too thick (it might be a little annoying when passing the pages, but you can use it with regular books). I am overall very satisfied with the product itself. Now onto Ozeri itself. There was a small problem with my order (related to the shipping process, not the quality of the product), and I received fantastic customer service from them. Really, fantastic. They were very nice all the way and did more than solve the problem. That being said, I definitely recommend the Kandle for your e-reader, and I would definitely buy from Ozeri again.

While most book lights for the Kindles have a clip and a swan-neck scoping out of it with a light attached, this is a more compact version that works equally well and illuminates the page but is more compact for travel. I have 3 versions of the Kindle and an ipad and it fits all 3. Better yet, there is no telescoping bendable neck that you have to mold into place each time you clip it on then reposition after you take it off and put it back on again because it would move if kept in a bag or suitcase or even during removal. This can stay clipped on and always be at hand when needed without getting in the way as my other lights have. It adjusts to the size of your e-reader, whatever it may be. And its apparently quite sturdy because UPS banged the heck out of this package and even put holes in it and it came out of the package unscathed. that is a good test for the airlines of how it will handle travel.

The single clip on light that I had been using wasnt a good fit. The Kandle is well rated and has more bulbs and the clip area is larger. Everything is fine with the Kandle light with one exception, I have a cover for my Kindle and the cover and Kindle combination is a little thick for the Kandle. It works, but squeezing the attachment open and getting a solid fit barely makes it.

It lights the Kindle screen just fine. I like the fact that it has two settings, and that it comes with extra batteries (whoo hoo!) and a pouch. What would make it absolutely perfect is if the back part of the clip were thinner -- thin enough to slide between the Kindle and my Verso cover without stretching the elastic bands that hold the Kindle in the cover. But thats probably not possible, given that they have to put the batteries somewhere. And even the Verso lights arent designed that way. Other than that, this is a great little reading light.

I bought this for the Kindle DX I bought due to my fear that Amazon will never produce a Paperwhite version of it. This light is nice in that it is small and compact. I have a Mighty Bright light, but it takes up more room in my briefcase due to its flexible stalk for the light. However, the Kandle is not quite bright enough for the Kindle DX. Its adequate, though, so I am sticking with it because it is compact.
