> 3 dayI really dont understand why this could not have a rechargeable battery. Other than needing expensive CR2032 batteries this light is great. I just received it yesterday so Im not sure what the battery life will be. Hopefully the battery life will be very long considering its only powering 3 small LEDs. FYI - even on the lowest light setting itll still light up a room, I may try and tape something to dim it down even more so I can read in bed without disturbing my wife.

> 3 dayI bought this recently so I could stop bugging my husband with a lamp when I read after he goes to sleep. Its really great! It does clip on, which I didnt notice before I got it. Since the clip is so wide, I dont worry about it damaging my kindle like I did when I was using a regular book light. The light reaches all the way to the bottom of the page. The only thing I wish was different on it is that I wish it had a slightly dimmer setting. I think my eyes get sensitive at night, and it would be even less of a bother for sleeping partners that way. (I kind of assume a lot of people get them for that reason.)

> 3 dayI was very hesitant on buying a little light for the price, but am very satisfied. It is very lightweight and I like that it doesnt weigh my Kindle down when firmly attached. The different light settings are great!! The low setting is very useful for cloudy days and the highest setting works great while reading in bed. It comes with a nice little pouch to hold the Kandle when not in use and still has room for extra batteries and the little screwdriver. The only downfall is the positioning of the on/off switch as it is a little difficult to turn on when attached to the Kindle. I would recommend this light to anybody looking for a nice, high quality light.

> 3 dayIt lights the Kindle screen just fine. I like the fact that it has two settings, and that it comes with extra batteries (whoo hoo!) and a pouch. What would make it absolutely perfect is if the back part of the clip were thinner -- thin enough to slide between the Kindle and my Verso cover without stretching the elastic bands that hold the Kindle in the cover. But thats probably not possible, given that they have to put the batteries somewhere. And even the Verso lights arent designed that way. Other than that, this is a great little reading light.

Greater than one weekI needed a light for my Kindle because I share my room with a roommate who goes to sleep early. After doing some research on Amazon.com, I finally settled on the Kandle by Ozeri II. First of all, this light is small but powerful. The 3 LED lights provide the perfect amount of brightness for me to read my Kindle while not disturbing my roommate (even at the lower setting). It has a lightweight, compact design with a nice matte finish. The color also matches the graphite Kindle. The Kandle II comes with a protective pouch, 2 extra batteries, and a mini screwdriver needed to access the battery compartment. My only issue with the Kandle II is the placement of the power switch. Its located right at the hinge of the light, so if you open the light before you switch it on, it tends to close when you push the switch. Not a huge deal, just something I noticed when using the light for the first time. Pros: - lightweight - bright - nice design and quality Cons: - expensive for a book light - power switch at hinge

20-11-2024I have used many personal book lights in my 60 + years of reading. Most of them were flimsy and poorly designed. As for lighting ones book page... mostly inadequate. I decided to try one more time when I bought my wife a new monochrome Kindle. EUREKA !! The Kandle II actually works beautifully at illuminating the reading area, it is well made and has those little refinements (e.g. auto shut-down)that please customers. In short, after many years I have finally found a book light that I can enthusiastically recommend. It is a truly 5 star product.

Greater than one weekThe single clip on light that I had been using wasnt a good fit. The Kandle is well rated and has more bulbs and the clip area is larger. Everything is fine with the Kandle light with one exception, I have a cover for my Kindle and the cover and Kindle combination is a little thick for the Kandle. It works, but squeezing the attachment open and getting a solid fit barely makes it.

Hello Friend
> 3 dayI design high-end LED lighting, so I perhaps a bit biased. In any case, I am satisfied with the Kandle, but it has some obvious improvement areas. Lets start with the good first. The light is a very nice small size, perhaps the size of a deck of cards. Its quite light as well. The grey one has a soft touch type of paint that has an almost rubber feel. I think this is nice. It definitely feels a bit more high quality than if it were not painted in this way. The light is sufficiently bright for most any situation that I have used it in. Now for the bad. It uses three inexpensive 5mm LEDs. These are the kind you see on very cheap flashlights at your typical store checkout register. They look a bit different, because they are wide-angle, which is why they have a flat top to them. You absolutely cannot expect much from these LEDs. They are no more than a few cents a piece and have typically very loose design tolerances. They also have a very poor color output. They are very cool in color temperature, which results in a blueish, light. This perhaps is not as critical for reading text, but a warmer color temperature may enhance the perception that e-ink is almost real paper. Another problem with these LEDs and the wide angle (typically 110 degrees) is that stray light goes everywhere. The Kandle is not very good for use in bed, or an otherwise intimate setting since you will likely be lighting anything within a 10 foot radius. To get the most even lighting, you need to tip the moveable head up quite far, which only exacerbates the problem. The Kandle has two brightness modes which are, in effect, useless because the brightest is far too bright to use in most situations. Something I found distracting is that the LEDs are dimmed using PWM, which causes some high-frequency flicker that becomes perceptible if you are moving in relation to the Kandle (ie. moving the Kandle, or walking by it for example). LEDs can be dimmed with a constant current driver, which eliminates flicker, but adds some cost the the driver hardware. One last problem is the way the light clips onto the kindle. The clip mechanism just isnt designed right to hold onto the Kindle 3G securely. Obviously, you shouldnt be moving much while reading, but youll need to be cautious moving you Kindle around with this attached. It would be impolite to post a critical review without some suggestions. I have a few that I think could make this a really good light. First, improve the LEDs. Much higher quality LEDs are available, and should be used. The increase in cost would be negligible. In addition, adding directional turning film to the lens is one method to control the light leaking to the sides, while keeping a uniform illumination of the screen. This film basically squeezes the light into a more shaped pattern - long vertically and narrow horizontally in this case. A wider range of dimming especially towards the low end is badly needed. I dont like using this in bed in its current state. The clip needs a more aggressive, but sticky material. Improving the mechanism shape could allow the Kandle to hold much tighter. Adding a rechargeable battery to the Kandle would be great. If I had to charge it no more than the Kindle (which would only require a very small battery with these LEDs) I would be very happy. Im not too fond of replacing and throwing away batteries. I would also make the on/off/dimming button easier to press. The current design is a bit tough to use ergonomically when the light head is open. All things considered, this light isnt bad. It probably is one of the best out there, which is good, but say a lot about the state of Kindle lights. I would definitely recommend it, as most people will probably not be bothered by most of what I observed.

> 3 dayThis is a terrific product. It lights up the whole screen, its so easily adjustable and theres virtually no glare. And theres no light on a pole that you have to move out of the way. I also discovered that it makes a handy little flashlight if youre looking for the bathroom in a strange house. Im very pleased with this purchase and I love the extra batteries and the little carrying case too! It seems to be very sturdy and the price was more than reasonable. Its a great value for the money. I took off one star (would have only taken a half if I could) because it could use a little more tension on the clamp. It didnt fall off for me, but it did move around and slide down onto the very top of the reading surface a few times. There was no real inconvenience here, just a little anxiety that it would fall off if I moved too fast. Update: After going back and reading some other reviews, Id like to clarify a few things. I paid $19.95 for this light, not the $39.99 price listed, so I found it to be a good bargain. Id also like to point out that some of the cons mentioned in other reviews have been fixed on the one I have. A screwdriver is no longer required (or provided) for changing the batteries and the the light shuts off automatically now when the unit is closed. This tells me that the manufacturer is paying attention and sincerely dedicated to producing a quality product. For that reason, Ive updated this to five stars.

22-11-2024after reading about a million reviews i decided to get this light for my kindle. Some reviews mentioned that the clip was to big and it covered the first couple of lines. Well after getting it I can see how that is valid. However the design is perfect to clip on the back of the cover. Then the curved part were the light folds into fits perfectly around the curved back of the kindle. I love it it works great. Shipping was fast.
