> 24 hourWorks well. App is super easy. Love not having to go outside to turn on our patio lights, can do it from the comfort of our home when our dog wants to go outside at night.

> 24 hourIm always amazed by affordable gadgets that serve their purpose so reliably that you forget theyre even there. This dimmer/timer works flawlessly and the phone app makes everything conveniently controllable if you want to adjust your lights. A winner!

> 24 hourIf you are using this for incandescent bulbs, just know the lowest setting is about 75% brightness. Otherwise, everything about it is great.

> 24 hourI first purchased the Meross Outdoor Plug for a hot water recirculating pump that I wanted to control using my phone. Hence, rather than having the pump running 24/7, I could simply turn the recirculating pump on whenever I needed hot water, with the touch of a button on my phone. At first, the Meross worked well, but then would start to intermittently lose the wifi signal, requiring a trip outdoors to where both my water heater and the recirculating pump were located so I could re-establish the wifi connection. This often occurred late at night, in the cold, and became so frequently frustrating, that I decided to try a different plug. Hence, my purchase of the Kasa Smart KP400 plug. It took a few tries to get the smart feature to register (an automatic shut-off after running for five minutes), but the connection to my wifi has been rock solid. I have not had to reset the link once since installation about a month ago. So far, so good. One caveat with the smart features that I had to figure out on my own--the app will show you when (date and time) it was installed, and it uses this information to coordinate with your instructions to the smart feature (e.g., turn on the device at such-and-such a time, on such-and-such days). BEFORE you program your smart features, refresh the date and time of installation, even if the date and time are correct! (There is a button in the app to refresh.) My smart features would not work correctly until I performed this one simple action. Had I known beforehand, it would have saved me hours of trying to figure out why those features did not work. This is the only reason for the four-star rating of the timer function. So far, Im happy with the product. Hope it stays that way!

> 24 hourMaybe during setup I didnt do something correctly. I own other Kasa products and they are remarkable. The response time on this is proving good. Very lethargic. I will continue to monitor it because there is a chance it could be the lights that I have plugged into it that are causing such a slow response.

> 24 hourThe title says most of it. Simply add it to your home automation environment using the TP-Link app and Alexa automatically recognizes it. We use it for outdoor Christmas lights, plugged into a weather proof, permanently mounted outside, GFCI receptacle. We’re saving energy since it replaced an old fashioned inside permanently mounted commercial grade mechanical motorized timer in a steel box. That old timer’s motor used electricity 24 hours a day to run during the Christmas Season. The TP-Link smart plug itself works great and is bulletproof reliable, even recovering reliably from power outages. And while its Kasa App is friendly and reliable, we do no use the Kasa app timer function for our Christmas Lights. We use an Alexa App “Routine” to turn the lights on 40 minutes before sunset and off at 1:30am... and then back on an hour before sunrise and off 25 minutes after sunrise. If we ever wish to turn them on or off on demand, we simply say “Alexa, turn on Christmas Lights”... and both our Christmas tree (also on a TP-Link plug) and outdoor lights come on. If we only want outdoor lights, we add “outdoor” before “Christmas”... or if we only want the Tree, we add “tree” after “Christmas”. (When adding the plugs, we named them “Outdoor Christmas Lights” and “Christmas Tree Lights”.) Minor CON: That rubber receptacle cover flap is not tethered to the smart plug if you’re using both outlets, rendering it easy to lose. We’ll always be using both receptacles so not a big deal to us. An aside: after we bought this TP-Link Outdoor Smart Plug, another Alexa-compatible Smarthome brand we use, Wyze, announced a double outlet outdoor receptacle for half the price we paid for this TP-Link plug. That Wyze plug adds a photoelectric sensor that can be used to automatically (autonomously from WiFi) control the lights. However, since we prefer to use the Alexa Sunrise/Sunset controls to have the lights on only for a period time before and after those events, we would not use that sensor. Having the lights on all night would waste energy. Furthermore, with the firehouse of new products tiny company Wyze has been releasing, they appear to be straining to maintain the wonderfulness of their previously core product Wyze Cam v2. TP-Link Smarthome products are just plain reliable.

> 24 hourThese switches are easy to install on your wifi and work seamlessly with Alexa. Our outdoor tree lights are standard C7 incandescent bulbs. With this plug, they come on at sunset and can go off at dawn or whenever you wish. And you can dim them, which I love. Want them on or off outside the schedule? Just ask Alexa! Want them dimmer? Ask Alexa! Dont have Alexa? You should, but it still works by using Karas app on your phone. But its much more fun to set up a routine on Alexa. :) We say Alexa, Merry Christmas to turn it on, and Alexa, Bah Humbug to turn it off. Original? I dont know, but it makes us smile. Have fun!

> 24 hourLet’s face it - if you’re interested in buying this. You’re probably interested in setting up some outdoor string lights that you’d like to dim, and more importantly add to something like home assistant. You’ll probably never dim the lights, and once you set up a automation probably never touch that either. But it’s all about setting it up and getting it to work right? It’s not like your wife is going to be super excited by how the string lights can be set at different brightness levels for different people outside :) With all that out the way. This is actually smaller than expected, but with the smaller size comes a smaller cord. So you’ll to decide if you want this hanging off your outside outlet or drop in an extension cord. It also connect super easily (local) through to home assistant. Where you can quickly set it up to act as a light entity. Then all the really nerdy stuff of setting up pointless automations can begin. Overall - I’d recommend it - just probably not going to be the coolest thing your wife has seen.
