Greater than one weekI use them for string lights in the backyard and clear Christmas lights on bushes for accent. They’re excellent for this use. The only negative: Alexa can’t find any grouped items. If you group something and ask her to switch it, she complains that the item can’t be located. She can find every device, but no group names.

Greater than one weekI ordered two of these to control some deck lights and a pump for a water feature. I have other Kasa smart plugs so initial setup was easy with the app and it was a snap to add them to my homes Alexa app. One of the plugs would not connect to the Wifi from the deck in the back of the house, but swapping it with the other plug worked just fine. I imagine the range is not too consistent on all of these plugs. I had to re-setup (rename, etc...) the two plug which just took a minute. One is setup as a light control and the other is set up with a schedule to go on for a few hours each day to run the water pump. So far so good.

> 3 dayI bought this device to control a string of outdoor lights on my balcony. While it was a little tricky to set up the app, it did not take that long. The app works very well, and my lights are on a schedule that I created in a few seconds. I can also press a button that turns them instantly on or off. Very satisfied. Highly recommend and would buy again.

> 3 dayI purchased this to replace a smart plug that could not take the Las Vegas heat - early days, but so far, so good with the Kasa. Easy to set up and works fine with Alexa. I had an early concern as the pics on Amazon show the Kasa with a straight and a 90 degree plug - a kind Amazoner answered my question, saying that his was a 90 degree - which is what I needed - so I ordered one. Had a bad moment when it arrived and the photo on the box showed a straight plug, but the Kasa itself is a 90 degree plug and works well. Ill update if I experience heat failure with this unit.

> 3 dayI love that it can dim our bistro lights and it works with Alexa perfectly. Easy to set up and use. I would definitely recommend.

> 3 dayLet’s face it - if you’re interested in buying this. You’re probably interested in setting up some outdoor string lights that you’d like to dim, and more importantly add to something like home assistant. You’ll probably never dim the lights, and once you set up a automation probably never touch that either. But it’s all about setting it up and getting it to work right? It’s not like your wife is going to be super excited by how the string lights can be set at different brightness levels for different people outside :) With all that out the way. This is actually smaller than expected, but with the smaller size comes a smaller cord. So you’ll to decide if you want this hanging off your outside outlet or drop in an extension cord. It also connect super easily (local) through to home assistant. Where you can quickly set it up to act as a light entity. Then all the really nerdy stuff of setting up pointless automations can begin. Overall - I’d recommend it - just probably not going to be the coolest thing your wife has seen.

> 3 dayI thought these were going to work with he SmartLife app, but ended up only being able to get them to work with the Kasa app, which means that now I have 2 apps I have to use to control the lights. This is not ideal. They otherwise work as expected.
