> 3 dayIm always amazed by affordable gadgets that serve their purpose so reliably that you forget theyre even there. This dimmer/timer works flawlessly and the phone app makes everything conveniently controllable if you want to adjust your lights. A winner!

> 3 dayBelow is my 3 star rating which Im changing to 4 stars now that Ive done some more investigating. I thought rain was getting into the TPLink plug and causing the GFCI to trip - but I found out it was where the lights plugged into an extension cord. I removed the TPLink plug from the outlet and plugged the extension cord directly into the GFCI outlet and it tripped. Hmm. Guess the TPLink wasnt the problem. It turns out there was water in the extension cord plug from a heavy rain. That must have been the issue with my first TPLink plug also. So, if your GFCI plug keeps tripping and youre using an extension cord, check the female end of the extension cord and see if there is some water in it. Im going to wait for it to dry completely and then use electrical tape to keep water out of the connection. For some reason there is still some current going through the string lights even when the lights are off which is why the 4 star rating rather than 5. Original review when I thought the TPLink plug was causing the GFCI to trip: This is my second purchase of this 2 plug unit. I use it to remotely control some string lights. It was easy to setup and has good wifi range. It responds almost immediately using Alexa. I have a schedule so the lights turn on at dusk and turn off at 10:00 PM. Thats the good - now the bad. I turned off the lights using Alexa and replaced a broken bulb - and got shocked while doing so. Power was obviously still flowing even thought it was supposed to be off. I also noticed that the lights wouldnt turn off all the way - they would glow faintly. The GFCI would trip frequently as would the breaker in the fuse box. I figured I had a bad plug and bought another. It has been working fine for the most part, but the GFCI breaker would intermittently trip with it also. I replaced the GFCI outlet. No help. It had been working fine for the last few weeks until we had a lot of rain the last two days. It has now begun tripping the GFCI outlet again and the breaker in the fuse box. It says its waterproof but obviously isnt. Im going to get rid of it and try a different brand. Too bad because I really like it when it works.

> 3 dayMy wife and I have suffered in a living room with terrible lighting for years. Because we rent, we cant install most ceiling lights, and have got by with crummy side lamps. We finally had the bright (ha) idea to buy a dimmable plug-in pendant light, this dimmer outlet, and to run the cables inside an adhesive raceway across the ceiling. Game changer. Not only has our little vampire den been cleansed with healing light, the dimmer functionality and Alexa integration has made it both convenient and versatile. Kasa has nailed it with their very intuitive app for configuring their smart devices, and my only regret is that we did not find this sooner.

> 3 dayLet’s face it - if you’re interested in buying this. You’re probably interested in setting up some outdoor string lights that you’d like to dim, and more importantly add to something like home assistant. You’ll probably never dim the lights, and once you set up a automation probably never touch that either. But it’s all about setting it up and getting it to work right? It’s not like your wife is going to be super excited by how the string lights can be set at different brightness levels for different people outside :) With all that out the way. This is actually smaller than expected, but with the smaller size comes a smaller cord. So you’ll to decide if you want this hanging off your outside outlet or drop in an extension cord. It also connect super easily (local) through to home assistant. Where you can quickly set it up to act as a light entity. Then all the really nerdy stuff of setting up pointless automations can begin. Overall - I’d recommend it - just probably not going to be the coolest thing your wife has seen.

> 3 dayI bought this item three years ago. It works just fine. However, I have misplaced the covers that came with it. The company has no way to replace them. So, if you buy this item - do not misplace those covers, or else make sure both sockets are being used in bad weather.

> 3 dayI bought this device to control a string of outdoor lights on my balcony. While it was a little tricky to set up the app, it did not take that long. The app works very well, and my lights are on a schedule that I created in a few seconds. I can also press a button that turns them instantly on or off. Very satisfied. Highly recommend and would buy again.

22-11-2024I have about 400 watts of outdoor lights. The plug has built in overheating protection, which is great; however at 100% brightness, our outdoor lights are too much for this plug. We had no issues plugged directly into the outlet. We have to die about 50% for this smart plug. The lights are dimmable incidents. Combined about 400watts full power. If they were LED, this might not be an issue.

> 3 dayI love the functionality that these provide. Easy to setup, configure and use. But this one lasted 8 months before crapping out. It had exposure to water, but it is outside and IP64... theyre using that rating loosely I think.
