> 3 dayIm glad I trusted the ratings on this one! I really, really like this smart plug!!! Im not easily impressed, nor do I usually take the time to write one of these amazon reviews. So the fact that I am writing one now says something, in and of itself. Let me provide some specifics: this Kasa KP400 smart plug was easier to install than any others I have, including the actual Amazon ones. It has yet to disconnect itself from the network or fail to work correctly (again, better than Amazons own offerings). The timers and sun up/down programs have worked perfectly and it has not failed to follow a single, Alexa-given, command (once more, even better than the actual Amazon plugs)! I like that I can program it through its own (user-friendly) app or through the Alexa app. It has integrated perfectly into my lighting system (hello, Amazon. You taking notes?). I also like that it protrudes outward a bit, so as to not block the other, unused socket. I love that it is outdoor rated, handles a good load (without even remotely heating up), and has that green color that blends in. Additionally, I havent had to return it (after a short time) for issuing a weird error message that Amazon customer service translates to its dead and must be replaced. (Are you listening Amazon? You could learn a few things for your plugs from Kasa!) I not only recommend the Kasa KP400, without reservation, but will likely purchase another one myself (and maybe one for my aging parents). As for the few bad ratings, look: its always possible for one defective unit to get missed by the factorys quality control, or to have an issue with your wifi network. However, if you give Kasa/Amazon a chance to replace it, and if youve set up your coverage right (a lot of folks blame tech for their mistakes), I dont think you can go wrong with the KP400. If you think Im being overly generous and just dont believe me, try it yourself! The worst that can happen is you end up returning it and lose a day or so waiting on an alternative. But I am betting you be as please with it as I am am. So I say: good on ya Kasa! I will be trying some of your other offerings. Especially since the longevity, and functionality, of the Amazon smart plugs seems short-lived.

> 3 dayI have 2ft led black lights and this Kasa outlet could dim all of them. It didn’t dim them much so I returned them but other outlets couldn’t handle two. It worked really well with 3. If you need a smart outlet get kasa

> 3 dayI have about 400 watts of outdoor lights. The plug has built in overheating protection, which is great; however at 100% brightness, our outdoor lights are too much for this plug. We had no issues plugged directly into the outlet. We have to die about 50% for this smart plug. The lights are dimmable incidents. Combined about 400watts full power. If they were LED, this might not be an issue.

> 3 dayThis works really well. The amperage of my motor is about 13 amps and I have had no problems with the 15 amp smart plug. I wish I would have bought a double smart plug since both can be programmed differently.

Greater than one weekSo far (only a week old) I LOVE this product! I’m using it to control a string of MARKET lights that I just installed and it’s been working flawlessly and the app to control things is very easy to understand. It dims my lights efficiently, and I have fallen in love with the timer, allowing me to start the illumination and end of the illumination whenever I care whether it’s minutes or hours.

> 3 dayWorks good as a timer. There is no dimmer feature.

Greater than one weekSo, neither directions in both the Kasa app and the Alexa app or online with TP-Link work. Basically, I had to fumble around in both apps until they merged. Try what I did, open both apps and add TP-Link Kasa to Alexa, open the Kasa app and try to add 3rd party control. Pray, and continue futzing with it. No I idea how, nor could I replicate it if I had to. Total crap directions, very frustrating. It does work now though by some miracle of luck.

Greater than one weekI first purchased the Meross Outdoor Plug for a hot water recirculating pump that I wanted to control using my phone. Hence, rather than having the pump running 24/7, I could simply turn the recirculating pump on whenever I needed hot water, with the touch of a button on my phone. At first, the Meross worked well, but then would start to intermittently lose the wifi signal, requiring a trip outdoors to where both my water heater and the recirculating pump were located so I could re-establish the wifi connection. This often occurred late at night, in the cold, and became so frequently frustrating, that I decided to try a different plug. Hence, my purchase of the Kasa Smart KP400 plug. It took a few tries to get the smart feature to register (an automatic shut-off after running for five minutes), but the connection to my wifi has been rock solid. I have not had to reset the link once since installation about a month ago. So far, so good. One caveat with the smart features that I had to figure out on my own--the app will show you when (date and time) it was installed, and it uses this information to coordinate with your instructions to the smart feature (e.g., turn on the device at such-and-such a time, on such-and-such days). BEFORE you program your smart features, refresh the date and time of installation, even if the date and time are correct! (There is a button in the app to refresh.) My smart features would not work correctly until I performed this one simple action. Had I known beforehand, it would have saved me hours of trying to figure out why those features did not work. This is the only reason for the four-star rating of the timer function. So far, Im happy with the product. Hope it stays that way!

> 3 dayWorks fine, easy set up and Alexa integration. I am using this indoors so I cannot comment on its effectiveness in outdoor environments.

> 3 dayI have several TP-link Kasa Smart Plugs and a Kasa light switch, so I wanted to match my outside plug for the Christmas lights I had up on my fence. I couldnt find anything and then came across this. I didnt know or even think if my Christmas lights were dimmable, but knew it would still work if they werent. Lo and behold my lights were dimmable; so, I set it at 75% and put the lights on a schedule and it all worked perfectly, and was visible/availble for control in my Kasa Phone app where I set up the % brightness and schedule.
