This thing has seen two years of outdoor use without being unplugged. Its been completely under piles of snow and was still connected to our WiFi. Incredible!

So nice to have such easy control of lighting outdoors. Used two of these for our string lights on our gazebo. App is super easy to use and the dimming feature works perfectly. Perfect product!

Let’s face it - if you’re interested in buying this. You’re probably interested in setting up some outdoor string lights that you’d like to dim, and more importantly add to something like home assistant. You’ll probably never dim the lights, and once you set up a automation probably never touch that either. But it’s all about setting it up and getting it to work right? It’s not like your wife is going to be super excited by how the string lights can be set at different brightness levels for different people outside :) With all that out the way. This is actually smaller than expected, but with the smaller size comes a smaller cord. So you’ll to decide if you want this hanging off your outside outlet or drop in an extension cord. It also connect super easily (local) through to home assistant. Where you can quickly set it up to act as a light entity. Then all the really nerdy stuff of setting up pointless automations can begin. Overall - I’d recommend it - just probably not going to be the coolest thing your wife has seen.

A quick note for anyone installing this outside - Dont forget to use some Dielectric Grease on both the cord and the plug to help prevent water intrusion and corrosion of the metal. Pros - Super fast response time - Good wifi reception - Corded design doesnt block outlets and allows use in covered boxes - Status indicator light is useful for troubleshooting - Local Switch is really handy to have when testing or when internet is down - Low standby voltage Cons - 300 Watts is the max load and that is not very many incandescent lights (for example, 3 strings of bistro lights with 12 lights per string is around 400 Watts) - Requires the internet to function remotely. I have been waiting for Kasa to come out with some pluggable dimmers for a long time. I was super excited when I saw this product become available. I have at least 30 other Kasa products in my home that I have been happy with. I put this to use right away controlling 45ft of incandescent rope light I have installed around my front porch and it did a great job. The rope lights are 4 watts per foot for a total of about 180 watts (estimated). The dimmer had no problem with them. I would like to see a big brother to this with the ability to handle up to 1000 Watts of incandescent load so it could be used on my bistro lights. I would also like to see Kasa come out with some indoor pluggable dimmer modules.

I use them for string lights in the backyard and clear Christmas lights on bushes for accent. They’re excellent for this use. The only negative: Alexa can’t find any grouped items. If you group something and ask her to switch it, she complains that the item can’t be located. She can find every device, but no group names.

We wanted a wifi enabled plug to use in an unheated hen house which is about 50 behind our house and on the opposite side of the house from the router, so about 70 away. This plug works flawlessly. I set it to turn a light on at 5:30 am and off at 8:30 am, and it does just that. I can control it from my phone, using the Kasa app. We just purchased a 2nd one to control the heater in our greenhouse. It was too far from the house for the Feit smartplug which would frequently go offline. This Kasa plug works flawlessly, so if the temperature outside drops lower than expected, I can turn the heater (plugged into the Kasa plug) on from inside the house. Highly recommend this plug!

Bought this after getting tired of forgetting to go outside to turn holiday decorations lights off and on, and am so happy that Idid! I scheduled it to automatically turn off and on based on sunrise and sunset via the phone app, and was delighted to have one less thing to have to worry about!

Bought a lamp which needed specialty bulbs recently so I couldnt use smart bulbs in it. It was also super bright even with only 15w bulbs. This dimmer was the perfect thing - I love that you can set max brightness levels and choose which percentages corrospond to which brightnesses (it lets you mark what 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% should look like) so that when you give smart home commands, its easy to choose exactly how they look on your exact fixture. This was super helpful because with the lamp being too bright, I was able to make some percentages less bright, and then made 25% brighter because it was too dim after adjusting. This dimmer is really perfect for specialty fixtures! Also cant wait to get another when I have outdoor cafe lights.

I used this to power up string lights in the pool area. We already had a couple of the wall plugs and theyve worked well. The Kasa app is simple and easy to use. Wifi setup is about as painless as it gets with your phone app. Setting schedules is much easier than the Lifx app, and overall Kasa is better at making it simple. I dont have any color lights, so cant comment there. Ive got this plug and an interior wall plug on schedules. Both come on at sunset and are timed to go off at different times. The sunset/sunrise adjusts on its own with internet data and is accurate. You can set this to come on with a delay, or just set it to a specific time. This is also dimmable. I didnt know if the string lights were, but this plug handles it no problem. You set your percentage of brightness and it stays that way. If you schedule, setting them up to fade in and out is also available. It can be a fast or slow fade, too. The plug itself isnt much different than any heavy duty extension. The cable and housing are rugged. This would be perfect for Christmas lights, yard lights, or anything else you want on a timer or just the ability to power on/off with your phone. Also works with Google Home / Assistant. Tell it to shut off the lights and everything is out. Nice product.

Great product.....does what it was intended to do. Have it set up for backyard accent lighting. I use the scheduled timer to turn it on and off automatically. The app works great!
