Greater than one weekThis is a great little smart plug especially if youre in the Kasa family. The set up is simple just like all Kases smart devices. It is probably 75 feet away from my wireless router with 4 walls in between and has good signal. I use it to control my swimming pool pump and I can set up schedules on my phone and also use Amazon. Alexa to turn an off and on.

> 3 dayIve installed two KP401 (switches, for pump timers) and two KP405 dimmers. The two switches have been outside, turning water-feature pump motors on and off. One of them works reasonably well. The other seems to need reprogramming every few weeks. Im going to try replacing the flaky switch with another KP401, but if that fails Im going over to the YoLink. I would have picked the YoLink because it has much better range, but it is 2x as expensive.

> 3 dayIm glad I trusted the ratings on this one! I really, really like this smart plug!!! Im not easily impressed, nor do I usually take the time to write one of these amazon reviews. So the fact that I am writing one now says something, in and of itself. Let me provide some specifics: this Kasa KP400 smart plug was easier to install than any others I have, including the actual Amazon ones. It has yet to disconnect itself from the network or fail to work correctly (again, better than Amazons own offerings). The timers and sun up/down programs have worked perfectly and it has not failed to follow a single, Alexa-given, command (once more, even better than the actual Amazon plugs)! I like that I can program it through its own (user-friendly) app or through the Alexa app. It has integrated perfectly into my lighting system (hello, Amazon. You taking notes?). I also like that it protrudes outward a bit, so as to not block the other, unused socket. I love that it is outdoor rated, handles a good load (without even remotely heating up), and has that green color that blends in. Additionally, I havent had to return it (after a short time) for issuing a weird error message that Amazon customer service translates to its dead and must be replaced. (Are you listening Amazon? You could learn a few things for your plugs from Kasa!) I not only recommend the Kasa KP400, without reservation, but will likely purchase another one myself (and maybe one for my aging parents). As for the few bad ratings, look: its always possible for one defective unit to get missed by the factorys quality control, or to have an issue with your wifi network. However, if you give Kasa/Amazon a chance to replace it, and if youve set up your coverage right (a lot of folks blame tech for their mistakes), I dont think you can go wrong with the KP400. If you think Im being overly generous and just dont believe me, try it yourself! The worst that can happen is you end up returning it and lose a day or so waiting on an alternative. But I am betting you be as please with it as I am am. So I say: good on ya Kasa! I will be trying some of your other offerings. Especially since the longevity, and functionality, of the Amazon smart plugs seems short-lived.

> 3 daySo, neither directions in both the Kasa app and the Alexa app or online with TP-Link work. Basically, I had to fumble around in both apps until they merged. Try what I did, open both apps and add TP-Link Kasa to Alexa, open the Kasa app and try to add 3rd party control. Pray, and continue futzing with it. No I idea how, nor could I replicate it if I had to. Total crap directions, very frustrating. It does work now though by some miracle of luck.

> 3 dayGreat product.....does what it was intended to do. Have it set up for backyard accent lighting. I use the scheduled timer to turn it on and off automatically. The app works great!

> 3 dayI like that I can have Alexa turn on my outdoor lights at night...Before I get home and have to stumble around in the dark. It was so easy to set up...I had to buy another one!

> 3 dayWorks fine, easy set up and Alexa integration. I am using this indoors so I cannot comment on its effectiveness in outdoor environments.
