I was skeptical about this tool but we had professionals come in after we took our readings and their tools agreed with this one. Worth the cost. It does require pressing the tool on the surface so its not for checking dampness from a distance. Easy to use and read.

being non contact type you have to have any debris wiped away from the test surface and press firmly to get a consistent reading. But overall I think its good value for the money.

Got this because we had moisture in some outer walls where sheathing bowed out. After sealing things I wanted to make sure it was sealed and see if some other hidden areas need work but it seemed like it either reported a low moisture level or excessive moisture with nothing inbetween. Also little context on results. Seems like it is meant for stored lumber and drywall rather than in-place materials but hard to tell if its doing anything useful.

Initially it read 0.0% on all drywall. With several battery changes it started working and actually reading pretty accurately. It worked fine for a stretch and is now reading 0.0% again on all drywall. Have changed the battery multiple times hoping to bring it back with no luck. Because of this I would not recommend this product.

Seems to work good. Cant compare with others as this is first time owning and using this type of device. Only thing I dont like is you gotta know if the wood is hard/soft. So if your not a tree whisperer gonna need to research your wood to know its type so you can choose right setting. No instructions for like paneling or other types of surfaces if looking for moisture in walls.

If you are putting in wood flooring, or toung and groove walls, this tool is invaluable. Measure your wood and substrate. Know how much its going to shrink or expand. Gaps suck! Compression bows sucketh much more. This is the solution.

I didnt like that the first one I got didnt work. Amazon stood by me and the meter was replaced. Im happy to report this does what it is intended. Non damaging detection of moisture levels in wood, drywall, and masonry. I used similar meters in professional restoration work. I no longer work in that field, but this should do a fine job for my hobby work with milling felled wood for furniture.
