Greater than one weekAfter a leak in our bathroom, I wanted to monitor the drying process. This meter did the job great and came up with similar readings to a professionally calibrated meter. Highly recommended!

> 3 dayInitially the item worked well assessing moisture content on a sailboat. Then it suddenly would only display an error message. This is clearly a cheap product that works well, most moisture meters run around $300-400, so assuming the next one works for a reasonable amount of time this will be a great value. We shall see.

18-04-2025I bought this pin-less moisture meter specifically because it states it can read moisture to a depth of 3/4, and to measure the moisture in my fire wood. Its easy to use, no doubt, but is it accurate? I got suspicious passing the device over some pieces of cut wood and getting iffy readings, so I did a simple test: stick the device on my bare forearm: off the scale as expected; then over my shirt pressing on the forearm (so thats, what, 1/32?) and the reading is on the scale and around 20% moisture. So, yeah, just about useless for fire wood. It might work well for drywall, but given the above results I dont know that I can trust it.

Greater than one weekI have a chronic rain water problem in one exterior wall, it originates from either around a clerestory window or where the porch meets the wall. While I waited for the next rain storm, I thought I would see if this moisture meter works. I took a 1x2 foot piece of sheet rock and squirted about a third of the paper backing with water - not too much just enough to dampen it. After about an hour, I ran the meter over the plaster side around the area that I knew was dry and got a reading of 0% moisture; no surprise there. But as I moved to the dampened area, I got readings from 19 to 25 % moisture. The next day, I checked the sheet rock with a thermal imager and it indicated dampness around the edges and a couple of faint,I assumed ,damp spots - there was absolutely no visible or tactile moisture on either surfaces. I ran the Klein meter around the same areas, and the moisture meter showed positive in those identical spots. I was quite impressed. So, my conclusion is your sheet rock walls should be around 0%; this meter will indicate even the slightest bit of residual moisture.

> 3 dayI have done water damage for years, I bought this as a personal back up. It is easy to work but done tons I get different readings I think it depends on the battery level. However it has gotten me through real life situations and I recommend for the competitive price as a back up.

> 3 dayI use this for firewood mostly and getting the flat sensor pad in contact with a log can be difficult sometimes but it is still more convenient than the prong type. I can take 4 or 5 readings from a log in the same time I could have taken 1 with prong meter. Accurate enough for my needs but Im just confirming wood is below 20%.

> 3 dayThis saved me a lot of time and money locating the exact places on an old plaster & lath wall that were wet. It indicated the EXACT boundary of the wet area. I only had to replace those areas testing wet and it eliminated any other areas. The tester worked well if held FLAT against the wall. Of course the % moisture indication could not be verified, but in my case all I needed to know was the boundry between 100% and 0% moisture. This measurement was repeatable, allowing me to mark the boundary. It was a VERY difficult problem to solve. I initially searched for leaking pipes, a roof leak, etc. I finally decided that a calcium chloride desiccant bag that had been hanging near the closet wall must have sprung a leak. This contaminated area absorbed moisture to a point of equilibrium and remained wet regardless of running a dehumidifier for weeks. NOTE: Never use a desiccant container containing calcium chloride where a leak could splll on any absorbent surface. It will NEVER dry out and can not be cleaned off.

Greater than one week5 stars because the price was great especially considering It’s made by Klein tools. I loveee my Klein tools, and I own a lot of them. Functionality & features are so easy and nothing confusing or unnecessary about it. Looks great. Seems consistent with the readings it gives ( testing the same area multiple times for instance, you’ll get the same reading, and some might say well duh..but sh!tty tools give likewise Consistency. I can’t tell you how accurate it is, because I only know What’s the tools reads to me, but this style of meter is supposed pretty darn accurate, and I have no reason to believe it’s not. I love the scale it shows, from green to yellow, orange and then red Which All have corresponding percentage values, when it hits red, it gives an audible beep alert. You can pause the reading I believe. I was surprised at how light it was, I usually like all my tools to feel solid and durable but it didn’t bother me. It’s made of strong plastic or nylon, and I’m sure it could handle being dropped and tossed around. Unfortunately I lost this tool over a year ago Probably in a crawlspace ( I’m an HVAC contractor and do lots of residential crawlspace work also). A friend gave me his Ryobi moisture meter, same non-probe style as the Klein. I loved the Klein much more, although They operate similarly. I am going to order another Klein right now, and that’s why im leaving a review right now, a year later. And if I lose this second one, I’ll be buying a third one. Good tool great price. 5 stars
