Klein Tools VDV500-820 Cable Tracer with Probe Tone Pro Kit for Telephone, Internet, Video, Data and Communications Cables

I wanted to finally trace out the circuits of my house with something easier than a socket tester. I was hoping that I could turn off one breaker; hook the signal to that wire at the circuit breaker; and then find the signal at the various wall switches and wall sockets. Forget it... the cross-talk from all of the 60 Hz in the breaker box swamped the devices signal. I just got buzzing everywhere. Impossible to distinguish the signal from the buzzing. I think Id have to turn off ALL breakers to make this work... I didnt want to do that.

Super easy to use ( even for this novice). Locates wires quickly with a loud sound once located. Folds away nicely as well. We used it to locate speaker wires in a new construction home.

Item not working. All came with batteries pre installed and everything. Changed the batteries and still not working. This person that pupal this into a box full of tape, could not just test it before sending it out. Avoid this seller

This tool has saved me time and mega problems. Very good for tracing wires not landed in electrical panels. Easy to use to locate and trace wires within the walls and ceiling. A life savor for sure and you cant beat the price.

Great product. Could use a RJ45 female-to-female coupler in the box to connect the provided RJ11 plug to an Ethernet cable for troubleshooting Ethernet networks.

This toner is a huge help identifying wire locations. Much better than some others Ive used.

This tester allowed me to determine which panel controlled an outlet, which had no power. We have 10 electrical panels on the property and what would be the logical electrical panel was not the situation. This device saved me about $150.00 to $200.00 for not having to hire an electrician.

You simply cannot go wrong with Klein Tools. I have almost everything Klein so I may be biased a bit but I do not need to talk up this product for it to be a quality one. Accurate readings, multiple tone frequencies and great range on the wand has saved me many a headache in someone’s attic trying to trace a wire that, yes, was underneath some spray foam insulation that ran the entire length of the house. This is a must have for my tool kit.
