Fit fine but the old one was made with Brass and copper. This appears to be chromed steel or maybe stainless. I replaced the hard to turn unit with this, then soaked the old unit in vinegar overnight before disassembling, soaking parts in vinegar again to get the calcium out of the insides. Lubed with pool lube and re-assembled. Ill keep it on-hand to replace the next one that gets too difficult to turn. To rebuild, remove the clip and bow-tie stopper from the top, pull the washer off the bottom, and push the top down through the base. But unless you have extra time to do this, its cheap enough to just buy a new one next time. Use Teflon tape when replacing to make it much easier to take out next time. As others have noted, it really doesnt matter which side you buy. The only difference between hot and cold is a little bow-tie stopper on the top held in place with a clip. If you want to switch it, pull the clip and rotate the stopper 90 degrees. Pictures are of the old one rebuilt to show the clip and stopper.

I couldn’t get the old valve off, due corrosion - requiring replacement of the entire faucet. I was able to install this product, but it looked quite simple.

The new valve turns so freely compared to the old. My old one was jamming as the ceramic core was not staying in place. The new on has a nice firm rubber seal. You may want to double check the cam on the top matches the one you are removing. You should be able to turn it around if needed... or just leave it and the knob will turn the other way. If you are taking off both knobs a photo before you do it will help with re-alignment to what they were. Turn off the water. Spin the old one out. Check the seat is not damaged in the valve put the new on in.

Works perfectly in our shower valves. Just remember that Kohler has different valves with unique part numbers for right and left.

Installed perfectly in my Kohler Memoirs faucet. It is important when installing it to torque it to the 23-30 Ft-lbs specification so the valve will not back out through use. Handle feel with the new valve is excellent.

Ive ordered this twice, once from D P L and once from Amazon.com. I installed the cartridge received from D P L, and it is working just fine. However, D P L appears to be providing an aftermarket product rather than a Kohler Genuine Part. The cartridge received from D P L was packaged in a plain plastic bag, without label or instructions. Receipt was very quick via First Class Mail, and I needed that quick service for my leaking faucet. No spline was included with the cartridge and an 11/16-inch socket (possibly a deep socket, depending on your faucet) is required to install or remove the cartridge. The cartridge received from from Amazon.com was in packaging clearly labeled Kohler Genuine Parts and included instructions for installation. A new spline was included and a 5/8-inch socket (possibly a deep socket) is required to install or remove the Kohler cartridge. Im currently satisfied with either product, and may not know for years whether one or the other provides better service. D P L offers the best price if you dont need a replacement spline. Instructions for installing new valves (i.e. cartridges) in a two-handle Kohler faucet are available on the Kohler web site.
