Minoston Z-Wave Plus Smart Plug, Outdoor On/Off Outlet Switch, ZWave Hub Required, Weather-Resistant, Built-in Repeater, Work with SmartThings, Wink, Alexa, Black(MP22Z)

Used and integrated to my existing Z-Wave mesh, (SmartThings) + mostly GE outlet/switches and it was seamless. Currently working for my gazebo and so far no issues. Follow the instructions (READ FIRST) and there should be no problems.

The unit integrates seamlessly with Home Assistant and Z-wave. Convenient monitoring of power consumption and line voltage right within Home Assistant. Mine performs perfectly inside the house, but due to having aluminum siding and metallic low-E windows, the signal from my Z-wave dongle doesnt reach the outside location very well. This is not a shortcoming of the unit; just be sure to have a good path thats not shielded for RF. It is a very capable switch as long as it gets a good signal from your Z-wave hub.

I was able to pair this plug to my SmartThings hub when placed in close proximity. However, once I placed it in my backyard there was no connectivity. I then added 2 z-wave smart plugs nearby to act as repeaters, and connection was very spotty. Id say on/off commands would register only 20% of the time. On/off status was incorrect most of the time too. I placed an Enlighten/GE outdoor z-wave plug in the same location, and have no issues. Im sending the Minoston back

The product has a hard time reaching the Smartthings hub. I had to bring it into the house to pair it up and it works outside about 50% of the time. The unit is placed in the garden lighting transformer box, so leaving the door open to the box, works great. Closing the door on the box, can connect. Just barely on the cusps. All my all devices work fine around this unit. I will need to modify the placement of this and then it should be fine. Other than that, product materials look well made and product came to me pretty quick.

I didn’t want to spend $80 on the Lutron version of this. For closer to $20 this works well if you have a Z-Wave hub at home. It paired immediately with a SmartThings hub and easily tied into Google Home. Can’t really complain for the price, which is more than I can say for many other cheap WiFi outlets that tend to lose connectivity or phone home.

I replaced a GE outdoor switch with this so I could get dimming of my resistive string lights. The GE never had a reception problem, but this dimmer does. I have 20 devices in my zwave network, so the mesh is pretty strong. The dimmer is just outside my patio door. Nearest other device is two rooms away. I expect it to work well but it loses connection. I will put another zwave device closer to it, but this is disappointing and worse than my other devices.

This thing is an incredible disappointment. It will not stay connected to the Z-Wave Network. I even have Z-Wave devices within 20 feet of this Z-Wave Smart Plug that are capable to being repeaters and it still does not help. Every few days I have to go outside and manually press the switch on the device a few times on and off to get it to start working with the Z-Wave hub once again. Then it works for a fews days before it fails to work with the network once again. So much for home automation if you have to go outside and turn it on and off manually. I would look elsewhere for an outdoor switch. This one is too unreliable.

Used outdoors to power spots and lights on my deck, patio and pavilion. The switch works as advertised. No issues. The low profile, 45 degree plug fits outdoor plastic fixtures perfectly.

So easy to set up a smart home features using the Zwave system. Everything is tied into our alarm app for access to every light and outlet from one app only. Best thing is, if alarm is tripped for any reason, all lights within the Zwave system will turn on for added security.
