Minoston Z-Wave Plus Smart Plug, Outdoor On/Off Outlet Switch, ZWave Hub Required, Weather-Resistant, Built-in Repeater, Work with SmartThings, Wink, Alexa, Black(MP22Z)

This device has preformed flawlessly on both ADT Pulse and Hubitat z wave controllers. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a z wave outdoor portable dimmer outlet. I use it to control a string of LED outdoor patio lights using Alexa voice control and home automation routines.

I now have three of these, and love that they just work. You just need to take care to keep the socket end out of any rain, otherwise it fills up with water. It paired easily with my ZWave network and remains connected even when quite far from the house. This has enabled me to put my pond on a schedule, and with additional automation turns the pump off when the water is low.

Things I loved: The outdoor rating and energy monitoring capabilities. Compact size for outdoor unit Things I am disappointed by: It didnt make it 6 months before dying. It randomly was turning off, and now it turns off immediately after turning on. Product range was not as good as other zwave devices. It would occasionally completely lose contact with my hub Difficult pairing in smartthings Despite installation at the end of 2022, no Edge driver in smartthings

Works as advertised. Needed this type of cord setup for a tight spot and z-wave protocol. Integrated well with Abode Security Hub.

Easy to connect to Smartthings hub.

PITA to get SmartThings to recognize. Had to do custom install. Unreliable in SmartThings app unless you open the device control page. So, once added, & w workarounds, seems to do what I tell it. Have NOT tried using timer functions in SmartThings app. Turn it on/off via app on demand, not automated.

Bought this a month ago, plugged it in, set SmartThings to discovery mode, waited for a few seconds for pairing, configured the on/off times, and it has been working flawlessly since then.

I added this to my SmartThings hub easily. Installed outside (it’s in an eave of my house) to control outdoor string lights. I created an automation for the lights to go on after sundown and turn off before midnight. Integration was easy as with all my other SmartThings hub devices for Alexa voice automation. I have another outdoor zwave plug that I bought a few years ago that I use for holiday lights. This one is more compact and more cost effective.

I had no trouble pairing this to my Z-Wave hub (ISY994i), the instructions were fine. It worked well, too, and I appreciate the outlet cover for when it is not in use. For my purposes, the lamented lack of a right-angle plug (the product photo now shows the correct straight plug) was a slight irritation, as that would have been nice, but ultimately not a major issue for me.

This outdoor Z-Wave switch is great for water fountains and outdoor lights. The unit can handle extreme hot and cold temperatures, has a very long distance range compared to other devices that Ive tested
