> 3 dayI ordered one of these on November 1st, 2012 to replace a plastic stem in our Moen bathroom sink faucet which kept requiring an o-ring replacement or lubrication. I thought maybe being a Genuine Moen part, and of brass construction the sealing valve surfaces for the moving O-rings would be of higher quality and not need such frequent attention. This sink gets a lot of warm water usage, dozens of cycles on this valve every day. As of February 17, 2013 this stem is already worn out, and presents extreme resistance to pulling the faucet handle. I removed it and carefully pulled the inner stem out and cleaned and lubricated it with FDA approved silicone grease, and re-assembled it. It doesnt leak, but it is still hard to pull and actually squeaks when pushed closed. The sealing o-rings look like new, but since half the O-ring seals in this model are mounted inside the barrel into grooves, instead of having all of them mounted in grooves on the removable stem (stupid design!!) it would be very difficult to try to remove the hidden o-rings and get a new set installed without scratching the brass in the process, which could lead to premature damage of any newly installed o-rings. So I am replacing this piece of junk and going back to the cheap plastic style of stem. At least those CAN be serviced, after which they work very well for several months, until their o-rings wear out and need to be replaced and re-greased. Of course, if Moen could simply make a faucet that did not NEED all this attention, I would not be in this predicament. But at least this lasts longer than the lousy single handle Delta model it replaced.

> 3 dayfit perfect, saved hundreds on cost by NOT calling a plummer. turned off water, removed face plates, old circlip, then used vise grip to pull and slightly turn the old valve. and after 2 or 3 minutes of working it, it came out, then used some extra fine steel wool to rub out the inside of the brass housing, greased the new fitting and slid it in, put back the old circlip, [they dont provide a new circlip] tested the valve for leaks [was none] and reinstalled all the face plates and fitting and handle.. works super smoothly... less than a third of what lowes and home depot want for the same 1200 moen valve.. and a VERY SMALL fraction of what a plummer would gouge you for.. just wow

> 3 dayThese cartridges are great but the stem does need lubrication from time to time in order to work easily. Did have to replace the original after 30+ years. Good price at Amazon.

> 3 dayLocal Home Depot in California only had the new 1225 which is largely plastic. Didnt want to drive far and pay more. A plumber had replaced the cartridge in our tub/shower faucets when we bought the house 3 years earlier because they were stiff. One was leaking already! When I went to replace I found it was using the 1225! Apparently hed been too lazy to get the right one too, or maybe he just didnt know any better. If you have the older valves without the automatic pressure equalization this is probably what you want for most single-handle Moentrol, but not Positemp. Read the directions and info on the Moen site to make sure you know what you have. Use plumbers silicon grease liberally on the seals (O rings) before installing for longest life and smoothest operation.

> 3 dayThis item I bought is listed on Amazon as Moen 1200 One-Handle Kitchen and Bathroom Faucet Cartridge Replacement, Brass. The part is indeed brass, is properly stamped MOEN, and came in original, sealed Moen packaging.
