Greater than one weekLets face it,this is what it is. When you need it you need it. There is no agonizing selection to ponder. The criteria is cheap and fast (like me) and I was not disappointed with this purchase. In fact there was some bogus recall on this product due to bogus environmental concerns that were in fact not applicable, that made it impossible to obtain this item locally. So I was doubly pleased with this purchase.

03-06-2025Works great. This is a hard to find item and it is not found in the big box stores. I did need a cartridge puller to remove my old unit.

> 3 dayMy Moen kitchen facet is as good as new. No more drips. I had the plumber install it, and he was impressed at the price and the fact that I bought the all-brass replacement.

> 3 dayThis is my third or fourth replacement cartridge for as many showers, they install easily and work (if you use them). Just have to remember to exercise them every week or so.

Greater than one weekIm thinking this might be regular maintenance item, kind of like replacing spark plugs in car motor, to avoid having problems with them sticking in the block...eventually you need to do it to keep them from seizing ...likewise, mineral deposits will eventually make removing the cartridge from the fixture difficult...I waited a bit too long, and had to use something like a pry bar setup to get the old cartridge out (scary since you dont want to cause leak inside wall where fixture is located) since it took some force to get our the old one...next time Ill plan to replace every other year or so (it had been several years since I last did it)...so good to keep some on hand to replace regularly is probably a good idea, as these are probably cheaper to buy than to pay for plumber if they get stuck and you need external help.

> 3 dayLocal Home Depot in California only had the new 1225 which is largely plastic. Didnt want to drive far and pay more. A plumber had replaced the cartridge in our tub/shower faucets when we bought the house 3 years earlier because they were stiff. One was leaking already! When I went to replace I found it was using the 1225! Apparently hed been too lazy to get the right one too, or maybe he just didnt know any better. If you have the older valves without the automatic pressure equalization this is probably what you want for most single-handle Moentrol, but not Positemp. Read the directions and info on the Moen site to make sure you know what you have. Use plumbers silicon grease liberally on the seals (O rings) before installing for longest life and smoothest operation.
