Moen 1200 One-Handle Kitchen and Bathroom Faucet Cartridge Replacement, Brass

This is what the factory should have put in the product when they were at the factory. The replacement will probably outlast me! Good quality product!

I bought this part in 2011 and had it sitting around for quite a while before changing the cartridge in a shower yesterday. I didnt notice that is replacement for the Moen part. The O-rings on the outside of the part looked loose, but what do I know. I installed the new part and the shower leaked. When I tried to pull the cartridge to look it over, the stem pulled out of the body. I got the body out and saw that one of the O-rings had split in half. So I had a part that didnt work and came apart. The genuine part I bought from the store for a couple of bucks more worked perfectly. Not a well made part.

I purchased this directly from Amazon (not a vendor selling through Amazon) for $22.00. It looks entirely different in appearance than the 2 year old authentic Moen cartridge (purchased from Moen) it replaces. This one is stamped M-O-E-N in big letters on the brass. The packaging is also extremely different than the previous authentic one. Considering that Moen sells their cartridge for $24.00, I hope I have not been duped in buying a Chinese copy.

Removing the old cylinder was a bear, but this replacement fit perfectly.

I turned to Amazon because both Home Depot and Lowe at my area did not have this in stock. I was very skeptical at first because this is for a old Moen, even Moen web site doesnt list it clearly. I didnt know it Im ordering the right thing by looking at the photo. As the price is so much lower than HD or Lowe, I took my chance. Fortunately it was the right one and works perfectly. I would never expect buying plumbing parts from internet. Risk well taken! Money First

Contacted David Powers Limited questioning the quality of the Moed 1200 replacement cartridge. Sara from David Powers Limited responded, All items are purchased in bulk directly from the manufacturer, without retail blister packaging. This is the reason for the tremendously low price and free shipping. I am not sure if the quality of bulk product is different from packaged product, so I cannot speak to that, unfortunately. However, the price of $17.97 is not low. You can purchase a genuine Moen 1200 all brass cartridge on eBay for $14.97 with free shipping. I attempted to install this replacement cartridge and found it had two issues. It was slightly longer so the retainer clip used to retain the cartridge would not fit without forcing it through the slots. In addition, the orifices of the valve are small and only allow a reduced flow of water as compared to the OEM valve. Caution ! ! ! ! Go with the genuine Moen 1200 valve. Its a perfect fit and youll get it at a cheaper price. If it doesnt have Moen stamped on the brass part of the cartridge then its not a Moen cartridge.

The item fit and was the same size. The item was not the same as original equipment. It had much less rubber and designed differently. Poorly made. The handle was loose and felt cheap and moved all over loosely after the install. I double checked the model of the faucet and replacement part numbers. It still leaked just in a different position than before. Since it had been installed I did not return. Just wasted $25.00. I pitched it. Bought a new faucet. I do not recommend buying this part.
