> 3 dayI bought this small scanner to be able to travel with me to many locations throughout the day. I like the portability of it but I was disappointed when I could not find any tech support when my documents were only scanning blank pages. After some frustration, I tried to calibrate the scanner and that seemed to work, but I was a bit confused why I had to calibrate an item right out of the box. The other issue Im having is I dont know how to scan several pages into 1 pdf or email? I usually have at least 1-5 pages to scan back to the office and its time consuming and non productive to send 5 different emails to get the job done. Since there is no tech support, Im assuming I wont get the answer? It would have been helpful if it came with a booklet to walk you thru several issues. If anyone knows the answer to my question please share it with me

> 3 dayI was looking for a scanner that would fulfill my need to get rid of all receipts and documents I had piling up around the house and create a sort of virtual filing cabinet for them. Neatreceipts for Mac has been able to do this. Not only does this machine scan any piece of paper you can think of feeding through it but it also allows you to search for whatever information is on the document afterwards. How it works: You scan a receipt and an image is taken in either black & white or color. Choose which one you want in the settings. Hit the button on the machine, the scan starts and is done in a matter of seconds. Thats it. Put a receipt in upside down and the software, Neatworks, knows to flip it around to its correct position. If you have faded receipts that are hard to read, the quality of the image is often enhanced after it is scanned through. The price paid for an item, the name of the store it was bought at, whether you used cash or credit are all searchable terms. What I dont like about NeatReceipts is how its necessary to feed each piece of paper into the scanner manually. Instead of having a machine that just knows to grab a document and start scanning, I have to press and hold down on the scan button for every single receipt. Tedious and annoying if youre attempting to do dozens or even hundreds of documents in a sitting. Then there are times when the machine inexplicably gives out halfway through a scan forcing the user to pull out the receipt and restart the process all over. The equivalent of a having a paper jam in a photocopy machine just far less difficult deal with. On the issue of Neatworks taking too long to open up as others Amazon users are complaining about - Ive scanned a lot of receipts, close to 600. When my library is indexed, it takes maybe 5 - 8 seconds to complete. Then the program starts up. Not a big deal unless youre really concerned about those extra few seconds. For those experiencing speed issues, it might be necessary to get the latest software through the Neat website. Ill admit, I was wary to purchase such an item based on the price tag and reviews here on the site but Im glad I did. This is a classic made for Mac type accessory that almost pays for itself in a way. For anyone looking to get their physical data organized more electronically, Neat has created a filing system that allows users to access information in a manner not really possible until recently. 4 out of 5 stars.

Greater than one weekAfter looking for an good scanner I finaly decided to purchase this one. It was the only one that could support Mac & Windows sofeware which comes with the scanner. It works great and does the job very well in black & white as well as color . However if you want to save your documernts on an external drive it will do so but will not put it in order . I had to find this out myself , I did call the company and emailed there Help Desk for advise , but there customer service may as well not be there, they are not helpfull at all. Please do not get me wrong the product is great but the customer service needs to be looked at again, you are better off getting the answers yourself. Please keep in mind that this scanner does pull power from you computer, and thus when using a laptop it will eat up battery power faster, so plug in your computer to AC when using the scanner.

> 3 dayThis scanner is a life saver. As a head of the house, I get tons of receipts and it gets absolutely maddening trying to keep them all organized. This makes it very easy to not only organize my receipts but my run of the mill documents as well. I pretty much scan everything now. The OCR recognition works well. If I type in a word or two for what I am looking for, the search results list the docs quickly. You need to spend a little bit of time getting the system to be smart at first -- the first few batches of receipts you do you need to sometimes link the info from the receipt to the correct field, which is a simple drag and drop. After I do this I find that if I scan a receipt from the same store again the system has the data entered automatically. Thankfully then finally developed a hierarchical folder system so I could organize my receipts in much the same way I can create folders inside of folders on a computer OS. Still, there are some basic features missing that I would like to see developed. For one, if you want to zoom in on a receipt, you have to click EDIT to bring it up into a separate window, then you can zoom. This extra step may not seem like a big deal, but when you have 50 receipts, its a pain. I really dont understand why they dont just make it so I can zoom in on a receipt in the main screen. Also, the scanner needs to do a better job with pages that have been folder. Many times the paper will stop feeding through the scanning device, and it ends up looking blurred on the screen. I thin have to do it all over again. Finally, while I am glad they increased the length of receipt one could scan, I still find it frustrating when scanning long grocery receipts, because the scanner will sometimes just stop scanning even though it has not fed the whole receipt through.

> 3 dayI bought this product, and instead of a new scanner, what I received was a PREVIOUSLY USED and DEFECTIVE scanner that was placed in new packaging, and shrink-wrapped to appear as a new product. This scanner even had somebody elses receipts entered into the software that accompanies the product, including all of the personal information from the prior owner of this device. The scanner never worked from the first time I tried to use it. My big mistake was not opening and trying the product immediately when it arrived, because the thirty-day window in which you can return a purchase had just expired before I realized what I was up against. I am still holding out some hope that this company will provide a replacement scanner, after hours and hours with their so-called technical support. Under anyones definition, this company has engaged in fraudulent behavior, as well as violation of privacy laws. Buyer Beware!

Greater than one weekGreat product, works as advertised. Wish they had a desktop version like they have for windows. One refinement would be on its OCR, I find myself writing in some info that the OCR misses. Also the drag and drop is a little buggy at times. I did not expect this product to be bug free from a company that is use to writing windows programs. I am positive that future updates will remedy any bugs. Even with the bugs I am very please with the product and would suggest it to everyone.

> 3 dayI bought this product through amazon and at first I was very excited about the scanner. I own the scansnap mac scanner and thought this would be great idea when on the road. It works slowly, but it used to deliver. Suddenly the scans got darker, not as accurate and it was time to call technical support. As stated by other reviewers, there IS NO TECH SUPPORT and one must rely on a bb, or email, that takes 48 hours at a minimum to respond to the emails with no visible solution. Dont waste your money in this product that looks nice, feels nice, and seems to work well. It doesnt. And while they spent a lot of money in marketing, theyve failed to provide competitive customer service.

> 3 dayIm revising my earlier review; I still really like this, but have found it to be a little finicky in ongoing use. Still, great for someone who travels a lot or a portable office. ******** Why didnt I buy this sooner! Thats all I can think every time I use this little wonder. Here is a fun piece of technology that actually lives up to its promises. It is incredibly lightweight, has a sleek design, is easy to use, and works flawlessly! I travel quite a bit, and always seem to accumulate a lot of paper along the way - client files, receipts, business cards etc. Even in todays digital age, I continually find myself lugging a briefcase full of papers, as well as needing a fax machine. This solves all of those problems. The OCR software is remarkable. Receipts can be scanned, and the software will automatically recognize the name of the company, the total and even the tax. The copies are easy to file and store, and the data can be exported to Quickbooks for tax purposes. The scanner itself takes up considerably less space in my luggage than all of the files I usually carry, and makes it easy for me to archive many documents even when Im on the road. It really does work at the touch of a button. Neat and Mac make a great combo. Perfect for any mobile office! Hunter Phoenix - [...]

> 3 dayI purchased this scanner with the intentions of it making my life easier, however it did completely the opposite. After installing the software I received for the scanner onto my computer it looked really outdated. I called the company and they informed me the software was up to date. (just in case you thought I had an old version) It was very complicated to make new folders as well as sub folders and one of the biggest problems I found (maybe it was because I purchased mine used) it would not let me delete the previous owners folders. I had all of these folders but it would not let me edit or delete them. Another problem I had was with the actual scanner itself. It was basically bipolar. sometimes it would scan sometimes it wouldnt. I would not recommend this product to anyone that does not have a lot of time to figure out exactly how this product functions. It is very time consuming making folders, sub-folders, and scanning receipts. Forget the trees.

Greater than one weekI bought a neat receipts for my wife who has a Mac running both Win 7 and OSX Lion. I bought the Windows version which didnt work through the Mac hardware. I downloaded the Mac version of the software and installed it on Lion. Neat software asked for a Product key which I typed and it didnt work for the Mac software. I sent an email to Neat customer support to see about getting a Mac Product key or to see if there was a way to make it work on Win 7. After 5 days and numerous mails, I never got a response from their support department. A friend with a Mac and the Neat Mac software had a similar experience with Neat support. She and I are both returning our scanners. This company is a joke. Dont waste you money and your time. If you do youll be sorry.
