    The compactness of this scanner is its main selling point. Its about the size of a curling iron and will fit easily in your suitcase or carry on bag. However, I would not use it for anything important or official, as almost everything wiggles or crimps as it goes through it. If portability isnt your need, Id probably pick another one.

    I was so excited about Neat Receipts when I got it. I scanned a bunch of items, and was thrilled to have such a small, portable scanner. However the scanner broke within 2 weeks of my using it. It now has black lines through every scan I make. Ive contacted customer support and they are not helpful. So I ended up returning it. Other issues: the report format is not customizeable so, while I was excited to use this for my expense reports for work, the software wont print or export the categories I need for my expense reports. The OCR capability is mediocre at best so at the end of the day, this just didnt live up to expectations.

    The scanner is a great size, compact and easy to carry around with my laptop. I really like that it doesnt require any external power too. The quality is great for receipts and documents. As for the software, I often find that I have to crop my receipt scans because they show up with a giant black box around them, and generally speaking I have to edit every receipt because the OCR is good but not perfect. The software also seems to be more tailored for business professionals, and not just a regular home user like me. Something like tags or custom fields for each scan would be a great addition to the software. I know you can buy other programs that are supposed to work very well with this scanner, but I feel like if I am going to pay almost $200 for this package, I shouldnt need to buy extra things to make it work.

    I bought this product through amazon and at first I was very excited about the scanner. I own the scansnap mac scanner and thought this would be great idea when on the road. It works slowly, but it used to deliver. Suddenly the scans got darker, not as accurate and it was time to call technical support. As stated by other reviewers, there IS NO TECH SUPPORT and one must rely on a bb, or email, that takes 48 hours at a minimum to respond to the emails with no visible solution. Dont waste your money in this product that looks nice, feels nice, and seems to work well. It doesnt. And while they spent a lot of money in marketing, theyve failed to provide competitive customer service.

    I was hoping it the software would recognize line items or item names on receipts to make it easier to find when searching. I have to manually input the important items on the receipt in the notes section to be able to find them in a search. Also, it loses connection to the computer frequently and i have to unplug and then replug it in.

    Im revising my earlier review; I still really like this, but have found it to be a little finicky in ongoing use. Still, great for someone who travels a lot or a portable office. ******** Why didnt I buy this sooner! Thats all I can think every time I use this little wonder. Here is a fun piece of technology that actually lives up to its promises. It is incredibly lightweight, has a sleek design, is easy to use, and works flawlessly! I travel quite a bit, and always seem to accumulate a lot of paper along the way - client files, receipts, business cards etc. Even in todays digital age, I continually find myself lugging a briefcase full of papers, as well as needing a fax machine. This solves all of those problems. The OCR software is remarkable. Receipts can be scanned, and the software will automatically recognize the name of the company, the total and even the tax. The copies are easy to file and store, and the data can be exported to Quickbooks for tax purposes. The scanner itself takes up considerably less space in my luggage than all of the files I usually carry, and makes it easy for me to archive many documents even when Im on the road.     It does the job, I wish I had a more permanent office so I could have gone with the desktop version, because I dont like having to feed each piece of paper individually. It makes my end of month duties much easier and quicker so I do enjoy that. The neat software isnt the easiest to figure out right away which I would like to see changed, but like all software, it will see updates.

    This little item works very well and very quickly but it isnt perfect yet. The scanner is good, it rectifies crooked scans, but the OCR can miss things. It can be amazingly accurate, and on the next scan it can get the vendor wrong, the price wrong or the details wrong. Nevertheless its good because it is very easy to correct the mistakes and then the file of images and the reports it generates are great for record keeping and consistent with IRS standards. Particularly good if you have a FLEX (Flexible Medical Spending Account) and you need to keep records of all those copays, OTC meds, etc. Overall a really good product. Fix the OCR software and it will be perfect.

    Poor technical support team. I purchased the product at 2015 May. Two years now, the company want to promote its cloud software service, stop to support the hardware software. I bought a new computer, but once I installed into the old one. Even I uninstall the software from the old computer, I could not allow to transfer to a new computer. And I could not get a technical person to help me with the software installation. They repeat and repeat say the company policy. Dont like the company to push customer for paying more and more. I am going to look for other solution for this product.

    did not work. poor customer support. too late to return. will not purchase anything NEAT. closing NEAT account, too costly. looking for a less expensive option. DO NOT BUY THIS product. if you must buy mine.
