NETGEAR 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS308) - Home Network Hub, Office Ethernet Splitter, Plug-and-Play, Silent Operation, Desktop or Wall Mount

I installed this switch on a home office setting. It works. It replaced a NetGear four (or was it five?) port switch that had worked without interruption for several years. I needed the additional ports. I cannot speak to longevity, only to out-of-the-box function.

This Smart Switch is simply bad and Netgear customer service is horrible, if not non existent. The item arrived all scuffed up, tape residue on it and damaged like it was 5 years old. The smart features require you to make a netgear account to have access to them. When I went to make an account it told me this switch is registered to someone else. So after 8-9 emails to netgear I only got one response from them saying the switch is registered already to someone else. Rest of my emails have been ignored by netgear and this item is essentially a door stopper now. Netgear customer service is disappointing, in comparison to other network item manufacturers. If you have a problem you are on your own.
