Philips Hue 468942 Single Premium BR30 Smart Bulb Downlight for 5-6 inch recessed cans, 16 million colors (Hue Hub Required, Works with Alexa), Old Version, White and Color Ambiance

The yellow led already went out. It’s only been three weeks. Very annoying. I have other Phillips but this doesn’t work at all.

Returning this item because the wrong bulb was packaged in the box. I got some cheap Philips downlight bulb that doesn’t even have the same model number as the box it came in. It looks like someone tried to pass off a cheap imitation bulb for the real thing. Fraud! In the photos I’ve attached, you’ll see the bulb and the package it came in. The model numbers definitely do not match.

This is my first time trying out smart bulbs. I picked the Phillips Hue White and Color Ambiance for all the colors that you can change to. I bought 14 BR30 bulbs and a starter kit that comes with 4 A19 bulbs and a Phillips bridge. These bulbs are easy to set up. The Phillips Bridge was able to recognize them all. After I installed them throughout the house, I downloaded the Phillips Hue app on my iphone to set them up. First problem I encountered was when I tried to turn off a group of lights through the Phillips Hue app, some lights turn off, then turn back on. Most of the lights turn off and stay off. I tried various things to resolve this issue, by turning off the lights, turning off the bridge, restart the router. Nothing worked. Finally, I tried switching out these stubborns bulbs and finally they started working by staying off when I turn them off. Now that I was able to turn on and off all these lights, I started to play around with colors and brightness of the bulbs. There are 2 problems that I see. Picking colors is hit and miss. It takes me some time to pick daylight color. But daylight color doesnt look exactly like daylight that Im used to. The colors are neither vibrant nor distinct. Adjusting the brightness of the bulb is neither easy nor intuitive in the app. At full brightness, the bulb still looks dim to me. These bulbs are not bright at all. They are rated at 650 lumens. At full brightness, they still look gloomy. This is a deal breaker for me. Im used to bulbs outputting at least 850 lumens. Another problem with these bulbs is the dimming feature. When I dimmed the bulb to 1%, its still too bright for when you want to sleep. I thought I could dim it to a level dark enough so I can easily sleep. Oh yea, firmware update for these bulbs takes forever. Firmware update takes hours. You wouldnt know how long it would take because the app doesnt have a way to give you progress of the update. After waiting for a couple of hours for the firmware update, I went to sleep. There are too many issues with these bulbs that I had to return them all. I then ordered the LIFX bulbs after reading raving reviews about them. After trying on these bulbs, its unbelievable. The brightness is incredible. The colors are incredible. Picking colors and brightness through their app is so easy. These LIFX bulbs are just way more superior to the Phillips Hue. Read the comparisons online between the LIFX and Phillips.

Like all of the Hue products, very easy to set up with a Hue hub Would be nicer if they were a little bigger, but until Philips releases a color-capable recessed lighting system, this is the best option for colored bulbs in recessed / can lighting. Works fine in 5”-6” cans, would fit into 4”

I am putting these throughout my house that need flood lights. So easy to use. Love that I can control them from my iPhone. The ability to change colors for ambiance or different tasks is awesome.

I bought three of these lights with the hue controller to give my outdoor porch some holiday/ seasonal color. Had it for almost a year and like the ease of controlling them. They are in conditions of extreme humidity on a hot summer nights to the frigid winter cold. Working like a champ,

Love the Hue products. These bulbs came refurbished and neither worked. I tried multiple sockets and different circuits (not on a dimmer switch). I returned these and ordered new ones.

These were terrible. This was my first experience ordering from the Amazon Warehouse on refurbished products. 3 out of 4 bulbs are defective and do not work. There are product version mismatches / different model numbers. It’s just a complete mess - all for saving $15 dollars. It cost me 10x that just to trouble shoot the problems for a week before now needing to return these items. ZERO STARS.
