Honestly it’s pretty expensive for a light bulb, but we had to have it. There is a surprising number of colors.

First it would turn off - problem was fix by updating the firmware. The bulb stop working after a week. First time having issue with the hue system.

Not sure why this only had four stars when I purchased it. Maybe the price? Well it’s worked completely fine for me! I’m very happy with it and the auora it brings

I bought about 20 of these to replace all the cam lights in my house. The Hue app works fine and all, was able to find and label them. Was able to use them as regular lights with a switch. Can adjust colors fine. Integrated with Alexa relatively easily. However.... 90% of the time, I tell Alexa to turn off a zone, they will turn off, then one or two will flicker back on in each zone and at the default soft white color. Tell Alexa to them off again, they turn off, then same one or two flicker back on. Go into the app and turn them off and, you guessed it, flicker back on. I googled the issue and it’s not uncommon at all apparently. You can turn them off with the switch, but then that kinda defeats the purpose of voice activated and setting up routines, doesn’t it? Wish I’d saved my $800 and not bought these. Pretty disappointed.

This bulb is brighter in one direction than the standard Hue color bulb, and is great for recessed lighting, track lighting, or anything else where you want direct lighting instead of indirect. I still use standard Hue Color bulbs for things with a shade, but for my closet this bulb has been wonderful! Big fan of Philips Hue. Colder lights for the morning, warmer for the afternoon, fire glow for the evening. Mood lights, or pure red light when you get up in the middle of the night but dont want to be blinded and lose your night vision.

    Greater than one week

We used them as outside flood lights for a about 4 months then they got water inside the bulb and now some of them don’t work.

Get the 2nd Generation instead. These 3rd generation bulbs make a lot of buzzing noise PLUS they will NOT work properly if you have a dimmer switch. As in they will act up and will blink frenetically during any given time, every day when hooked up to a dimmer switch. Yes, I know you are not supposed to use the dimmer on the switch as you can use the HUE app which is how they should be dimmed, however, these will not work properly with a dimmer switch at any given position of the wall dimmer. The 2nd Generation has NO issues with dimmer switches and NO buzzing noise. Returning them back to Amazon and ordering more of the 2nd Generation instead.
