08-06-2025Qidi makes very nice 3D printers. I feel because this printer is advertised as industrial grade it has some shortcomings. However if you think of it as a hobby printer it is probably the best available. Pros: 1) QIDI Customer Service. Emails to service reps were responded to within 24 hours, always with helpful advice and a positive attitude. Some of my cons below were addressed or at least attempted to be addressed by very helpful and patient QIDI representatives. 2) QIDI stands behind their product. I needed a replacement part, I am in California. QIDI shipped it from China and it was here within 4-5 days. This is incredible considering we are under Covid-19 lockdown. Well done! 3) Printer prints PLA very well. 4) Build plates are very convenient when they work 5) Overall printer design gives you great value for the money 6) The internal LED lighting is very helpful 7) The touch screen works great Cons: 1) Build surface sticks to some materials. And tears when removing the stickier parts, which destroys the build plate. And the build plates are around $20 each. Ive already gone through 3 in less than a month. QIDI should include a more reliable glass printing surface. 2) Documentation is incomplete and sometimes confusing, for example the X-Plus comes with an “extruder upgrade” however installation is not necessary unless printing with vinyl. Manual makes it seem like a necessary upgrade. 3) No Simplify3D online compatibility. The WiFi feature is somewhat useless if I can’t connect to the printer in Simplify3D. 4) Included slicing software poorly documented, includes apparent programming errors. For example if you import a model and try to “center” the model for printing, the Qidi software places the model roughly 1 meter outside the build volume in the wrong place. So even a feature as basic as centering a print is impossible without manual placement. Slicing process also takes a long time compared to Simplify3D. 5) Prints only slightly better than lower cost printers, no dramatic increase in quality or speed of printing. I have noticed a more reliable printing experience, however I have recently had a lot of problems making my success rate roughly 50-60%. 6) Language/translation problems. English is not very good on included literature. This makes the company appear unprofessional if you are an English speaker. I think QIDI would benefit from a native English speaker editing their documentation and improving the image of the company to Western customers. Their translations are 85-90% perfect, but they could easily achieve 100% with upgraded translations. 7) Customer service was friendly and helpful but training/instructional videos included with their responses were incomplete. QIDI should create better more complete instructional videos for dealing with common problems. This is not the fault of their service representatives who are simply passing the information along. I think QIDI would benefit from producing more complete instructional videos to help customers. 8) Preheating issues. I cannot get my extruder to heat up automatically when printing. I have set the temp properly in Simplify3D. I have even done it successfully in the past with this printer. I am using the QIDI printer profile in Simplify3D. It was working and then stopped. I have to manually preheat, then start the print. I cannot simply print the file and have the bed and extruder heat to the desired temp. The bed heats up, the extruder doesnt. Extremely frustrating. 9) Filament/Spool design is problematic. It has been mentioned in several reviews. Put simply: if you’re printing a large print you’re going to have a bad time. Qidi has recommended after market modifications to address this issue. 10) I wish you could update the firmware easily from the printer, which is connected over WiFi. You have to download the firmware installation files onto a USB stick on a computer, put the USB stick into the printer, and run a Print on that file to install. Wish the firmware upgrade could be managed via the WiFi connection. Summary: To summarize this is a great hobby printer. It is not an industrial grade 3D printer in my opinion. If I had purchased this as a hobby printer I’d be very impressed. When marketed as an industrial grade printer I am disappointed. I still feel it is a good value, but simply too unreliable for industrial applications. Especially considering major basic design flaws like buggy slicer software, Wifi incompatible with Simplify3D, and a poorly designed filament management system.

> 3 dayMy first 3D printer, and not for toys or nic naks or puzzles, but for parts, prototyping and inventions. Today I printed a part 10 X 6 X 3. It took about 10 hours. I am pleased with the reliability, print quality, and features. It is well designed, durable, and very straight forward. Cons: Clunky Software, functional but not grade A. No Windows Driver, but the supplied QiDi app does fine processing the STL files from your program or even Windows 3D maker program in Win 10. Make sure the USB is installed in the printer before trying to send any files via the net. You may have to refresh or reboot to recognize the drive. You may have to send the file twice. You will know if it failed. Once sent, printing is easy. TECH SUPPORT: Had to use this tech support several times. They are great, really want to satisfy the customer. The will answer the simplest or difficult questions, and sell parts as needed.

> 3 dayAs I beginner, I spent considerable time reading reviews, watching videos, etc. to find a user-friendly AND high quality 3D printer. I found that and more in the Qidi X-Plus. Ive owned the printer now for 1 year and have printed hundreds of objects. Getting started was very easy with the X-Plus with great customer support videos and an extremely responsive customer service group. I consistently received responses in 24h or less for any questions. When my original print head became clogged with material from a bad print (the object itself was corrupt), Qidi sent me a replacement head quickly at no cost to get me back in business. The high temp print head is another huge bonus, allowing me to print with carbon fiber. The software is regularly updated and maintained. When I asked if it would be possible to use Cura, they quickly sent me a config file so I could use that slicer. Im now considering their new resin printer or the most recent, upgraded printer with fine nozzle from Qidi. This company deserves more recognition for their great products and top-notch customer support. -Very satisfied customer

> 3 dayThis was my first 3D printer, I was having some difficulty at first but after learning some of the basics, I have found this printer works very well. My latest print which was 21hr polycarbonate print came out excellent on the first try. Polycarbonate is a more difficult filament which requires higher temperatures that many printers dont support. This printer helped me go from total noob to successful high difficulty prints in two weeks. My one complaint is that I have to remove and reinsert the USB stick every time I power it on, otherwise the wifi upload will fail. Just an inconvenience.

> 3 dayThis is the best 3D printer I own. It has been printing non-stop for two months now. The build is solid. It heats up fast. It is very quiet. The slicer is easy to use. The print quality is excellent. The flexible print bed works very well. The auto-off when the print is finished feature is nice. Wi-Fi print is handy.

> 3 dayIm new to 3D printing but Im really satisfied with this QIDI TECH X-Plus. Its very well made and QIDI-Techs support is excellent. I had one issue with a print, but Sophia helped me resolve the issue with a firmware upgrade. She also was quick to answer my question about their slicer software QIDI-Print, which by the way is very easy to use and works quite well. I would highly recommend this printer.
