This is not one of those low quality Sega Genesis USB controllers you see everywhere. I was impressed with the box, the quality of the controller itself and the USB cable is quality. When I plugged the controller into my PC which runs on Windows 10 the driver installed itself. I use Fusion for Genesis on the PC. I went into the controller setup and changed port 1 from keyboard to gamepad and hit the buttons as instructed. Yes. It was that easy.

I had a Genesis back in the day and the first thing I bought other than a couple games was the 6 button controller. I used that extensively for many years and always loved it. Now, I play Genesis games on emulator on my PC and I always missed the feel of the 6 button. Plus, for games that actually use the buttons like Street Fighter II, it is really difficult to map that to an Xbox or PS controller. This controller fits the bill perfectly. The buttons all feel exactly as I remember and the love it or hate it directional pad is still the same. For me, that is a good thing but your mileage may vary. I also really like the inclusion of shoulder buttons as they allow me to map save states to them for easy access. This controller feels high quality and I am confident it will last. I highly recommend it.

As a collector of original hardware, I am always a bit hesitant of third-party controllers claiming to be just like the originals. After hearing other reviews, I decided to take the plunge and give this one a try however. I was told that Sega had a hand in helping this one come to market (hence, the stamp of approval on the box). This absolutely seems to be the case, because these controllers feel extremely accurate compared to the originals and work very well in their own right. There may be a slight weight difference, but its nearly imperceptible. I would recommend these controllers to anyone that wants to have an accurate representation of the original hardware on USB.

A little warning for anyone like me who is looking to buy this to play Genesis titles on their switch. You cannot manually change the inputs as the switch doesnt let you and both Sega Genesis Classics and Sega Genesis Online dont have options for remapping controls. So while the controller works fine you cant use the actual Genesis controller layouts on switch. For example: In Streets of Rage, normally A is special B is attack and C is jump. But because of the default mapping on the controller A is jump, B is attack and Y is special.

Great quality controller and officially licensed by Sega, This controller is a must if you own the Sega Mini, a bit smaller, 6 buttons and much nicer to use than the controllers that come with the Sega. Highly recommended these and very happy with my purchase.

I purchased this particular unit a couple of years ago. It’s absolutely durable and perfect for your pre-Dreamcast Sega gaming needs. The cord is long enough for couch gaming. It feels just like it’s original OEM counterpart…only difference is shoulder pads for use with Sega Saturn emulation. Seriously the best retro pad on the market. So much so I recently bought the clear blue version of it.

Works perfectly with mini genesis especially with the Street Fighter game six button configuration

Works very well. Love the original look with a few extra buttons to assign to my emulators menu and state save/load functions. When playing NBA Jam, its easy to find the diagonal directions when I want to move that way. Highly recommend. If you dont like the extra buttons and want an even more original look, they are releasing a version without the extra buttons when the genesis mini is released.
