> 3 dayI have been around the console wars. When I was young, and there is a lot of nostalgia here. However I am not gonna lie I was a snes fan. I have held a 3 button sega Genesis/Master System controller, but never a 6 button or 8 if you count the newly added shoulder buttons. The real reason I got this controller is 1) Never held one 2) Why the heck would you pay a $50.00 fightpad for the switch when you can buy one for $20.00 which comes with the basic features you need for a fighting game? Heck you can buy 2 and still save money! Looking at you powerA. 3) You can switch some buttons. There is two ways of doing it too the switch macros (picure above.) that is built in the controller. Or if you upgraded your switch to its newest version of the OS you can swap all buttons anyway you like. 4) Its also has the Sega seal of quality. Which is nice. So I have more faith in this controller than most 3rd party controllers out on the market. 5) D-pad is to die for. I like much more than the SNES D-pad. Thats saying a lot coming from an SNES fan.

> 3 dayThe first one I got had the directional pad break off as it appears to have simply been glued on. Also, retro-bits customer service I initially found mediocre. I purchased this controller to play within various other online emulator environments other than STEAM however the controllers directional pad does not appear to work on those sites. Retro-bit never was able to clarify why or if its even possible after contacting them months ago about the problem. Basically, their inability to address forced me to download and setup Retroarch on my computer which was not the initial intent, although it does work in that environment. They really should issue a compatibility statement here regarding the matter and integrate it into the description on Amazon. I did however receive a replacement from the company over the summer. I simply contacted them and they issued me a new controller. The particular rep I corresponded with was very nice and easy to deal with. The new controller I recieved seemed to be from a better batch at first but it too broke although it was one of the x,y buttons instead of the directional pad. The controller was a nice idea but unfortunately its just not made well.

> 3 dayI have 3 of these now. I use them mostly to play old arcade games with my kids. PlayStation and Xbox controllers are too big for their little hands, so I thought we’d try this. I’ve always thought the genesis had a great controller, and these are near perfect remakes of them. The D-pad is tight and responsive. The buttons are light and have a satisfying travel and click to them. The cord feels solid and sturdy and has plenty of length to it. I’ve been using it with retropie on a linux mint install and also with retroarch on windows. It’s been perfect on both. Using these makes me Wonder how 4 face buttons became the industry standard when 6 here feels so nice.

> 3 dayWorks very good I had the old Genesis 6 button controller you hit mode button it takes you to the save, load, return to main menu, or return to game like the reset button does no need to be right by the system.

> 3 dayI always loved the Sega 6 button controllers on the Genesis and the Saturn, and this thing is spot on and perfect for what I use it for (mainly fighting games). I only wish there was some way of using it on the Switch as well as my PC. (probably some sort of adapter or the like, I just need to look into what is available.) At any rate, as someone who used the originals back in the day, this feels and operates exactly as I expected. Update: Seems these now work with Nintendo Switch. I wish it was more clear that this would be added, or that there was some way to update the one I already have to be compatible. I never saw any mention, outside of the soon to be available bluetooth revisions, that Switch compatibility would be added.

> 3 dayThis controller feels just like my original Genesis controllers, but better due to added shoulder buttons and the mode button moved to the center. The d-pad is incredibly responsive, and all the buttons have a nice solid feel to them. Im very impressed and very happy after having gone through several inferior Genesis knock off designs. So glad an officially licensed Sega branded version is now available!

19-11-2024I picked recently on retro gaming and become huge Sega fan. I have never had experience with original Sega gamepad so from my novice perspective those gamepad offered great experience. Especially Dpad looks like feels like semi-analogue controller. For those used to Nintendo pads, there is some learning curve. If you really into Sega Genesis games I would definitely recommend this pad.

Greater than one weekD-pad is a little “squishier” than I’d like. But otherwise an excellent controller. I use it to play fighting games on my Raspberry Pi.

Greater than one weekI had a Genesis back in the day and the first thing I bought other than a couple games was the 6 button controller. I used that extensively for many years and always loved it. Now, I play Genesis games on emulator on my PC and I always missed the feel of the 6 button. Plus, for games that actually use the buttons like Street Fighter II, it is really difficult to map that to an Xbox or PS controller. This controller fits the bill perfectly. The buttons all feel exactly as I remember and the love it or hate it directional pad is still the same. For me, that is a good thing but your mileage may vary. I also really like the inclusion of shoulder buttons as they allow me to map save states to them for easy access. This controller feels high quality and I am confident it will last. I highly recommend it.

19-11-2024AWESOME! Feels really good! Use it on my genesis classic and also PC. Well worth it. Buttons are great, d-pad is great. One of the best retro style controllers Ive used. If you want a great retro controller for PC or micro console, get this for sure!
