> 24 hourThe lock itself works well. I have two children in the home, ages 4 and 1. Neither can open the drawer when the lock is on and engaged. I was able to open the drawer when I installed the lock on the top center. Doing so loosened the catch. I also had a lot of trouble with that first installation primarily because I trusted the measurements provided. After having installed several of the locks and seeing them in practice over a weekend, I have the following recommendations; 1) Trust your own measurements. The measurements provided with the sticky pads that come in the packaging arent exact. These locks are small and the drilling needs to be precise. If youre off by a 1/16th of an inch the catch might not be effective. 2) Put the catch on first. Its easier to start with the catch then measure where the lock goes after that since the lock will need to clear under the catch in order for the drawer to close. 3) Place the catch in the top corner or on the side. I initially put my first lock top center the way you usually see those cheap plastic catches installed. It did not work nearly as well as it could have. All in all, the locks work very well, but the installation instructions werent very good. If youre reasonably handy dump the instructions and make the measurements yourself. Youll save you some time. That said, I definitely recommend this product.

> 24 hourMy ten month triplet boys will figure out how to open up the kitchen cabinets sooner rather than later, so I ordered these from Amazon and was able to install them today. I have read a lot of people complain about installing these locks, and while it takes some effort, its not that hard. I did it all by myself, an extra pair of hands would have been nice! After installing the first set of locks, you get the hang of it and the rest are actually pretty easy to install. You need a drill and a 7/64 bit to pre-drill for the screw holes, the hardware is can be installed with a screwdriver and all of the screws are provided. An installation guide is included with the locks - you get one guide for each lock that will temporarily stick to the cabinet frame and then again to the door. You dont need to mark the holes first with a pencil to drill - I just used the paper as a template. When I ordered these, I was concerned that they would not work for our installation since our cabinets have no center dividers (there are two doors, side-by-side with no wood piece in the center), but the locks are actually very versatile and can work with the locking mechanism facing up or facing sideways. Keep in mind that each door and drawer will take a single lock. Eight locks came in the package that I ordered, so I was able to finish four cabinets (with two doors each). I did run out of locks before I could try these out on any of our kitchen drawers, but I will order some more and secure the kitchen drawers as well. I recommend these for any parent that needs to keep their infants out of drawers and cabinets. 1 tip - Leave one drawer accessible with stuff in it that the kids can play with. That way they will get easily sidetracked and forget about trying to get in to the other cabinets / drawers that have been secured.

> 24 hourThe locks were relatively easy to install and work well so far. I bought the 8-lock package for the kitchen, hall bath, and master bath cabinets because it was the best buy. Sadly, I didnt think about the fact that the package only came with one key. I will have to order additional keys. Some notes on installation: -I had to adjust the template positioning because of the overlap of the door to the cabinet frame. Still, the template was a blessing by making sure the holes were spaced apart just perfect. -Pre-drill your screw holes through the template, making sure not to drill through the doors! -Also, one of my cabinet doors had slightly warped so that it wasnt exactly flush with the frame. I put some spacers (small cardboard cutouts) between the lock and the door to help with the offset. It locks but its so tight that I cant just wave the key by the door...I have to push the door in to relieve the pressure on the lock/latch so that it will open correctly. Please know this is not an issue with the lock but rather a problem caused by my kitchen cabinets. -One of my cabinets in the bathroom uses small rubber bumpers so the doors dont slam shut loudly. I had to put spacers between the lock and the door for these as well to make up space created by the rubber bumpers.

> 24 hourI was very paranoid about my son getting into the cabinet below our kitchen sink where we keep our cleaning supplies. After doing a lot of research, I finally decided on the Safety 1st Magnetic locks and its one of the best purchases Ive ever made. My son is a very clever two-year-old and has figured out how to unlock or break most of our safety locks in the house. Weve had these magnetic locks for over a year now and he still hasnt been able to get into the cabinet. We keep the key on a top shelf where he cant reach it, but its still easy for us to access it when we need to so we havent experienced any inconvenience at all. Installing the locks was also easy. It didnt take my husband long at all. The key also always works like a charm. I recommend getting a second key though in case you lose one.

> 24 hourI have made similar statements to other child safety products. But, it’s worth noting and it makes me laugh. I absolutely love the look on my 2yo’s face once he has learned he can no longer freely roam through out the kitchen and bathroom products. It’s almost as he saying, “dude. Dad. Mom. Why will you not let me play with the knives and cleaning products??...” The product works great, functionality is great. Very few complaints. Ultimately you a paying for esthetics, both in cost as well as effort. It’s not that it is terribly difficult to install (remember reading is fundamental. READ the instructions!), just monotonous and gets old. However, when it is all said and done. The cabinets look good. And often you forget they are even there. That is until you realize you can’t open the cabinet, and then forget where your wife told you to put the magnet. Or, your forget to put the magnet where your wife told you to. And she is asking you, “where did you put the magnet?” And remember, it should bring you as much joy, as it does me; watching your child become extremely disappointed that he can’t open the cabinet to spray his face with windex or suck on a toilet bowl brush.... Kids have zero chill.

> 24 hourThese are great if you dont want your child locks to be visible or leave small openings for cabinets to close on little fingers. You do need to drill them in to the cabinet, but everything is done out of sight, so we are able to use them even though we dont own our home. Yes, they are a little bit of a pain to deal with, but I dont think there are child safety locks out there that arent at least somewhat of a pain. Once you get the hang of opening them (you have to hold the magnet in EXACTLY the right spot and open the door while its still positioned there) and remember to grab the key before trying to open the door (it does take a little while), these work perfectly. Theyve made our cabinet doors so uninteresting to our very curious and active 7-month-old that he no longer even bothers trying to open them. I am giving them 4 stars only because one of the locks didnt work properly and we cant use it. Fortunately, we didnt need that one so I let it go.

> 24 hourI have a baby that loves to get into everything shes not supposed to. When looking for baby locks, the other options seemed really flimsy and I knew it would take about a day for my husband to break them. I saw these and decided to give them a try. Installing these locks is definitely more difficult than the standard baby lock. You have to be careful to line them up properly so the lock catches. All of the hardware is included and Ive had these locks on my drawers for a couple years at this point and havent had one break or come off. The extra time you take installing is definitely worth it- these locks are sturdy and last a long time. When installing these locks my suggestion would be to try and put all of the locks in the same position on every drawer. That way you always know where to place the magnet. The only problem I have had with these locks are the magnetic key. There is nothing wrong with the key but twice I have set the key down on the counter and it magnetized itself to the bottom of a baking sheet and I baked the key. Which melts, obviously, and smells horrible. I would suggest buying a couple extra keys for yourself.

> 24 hourWe looked at just about every cabinet lock out there. I didnt want ones that were a pain in the butt to unlock every time I had to open a cabinet door. We have six cabinet doors in our kitchen that the little guy can reach so I put one on all six. They are awesome and perfect! First of all, you cant see them at all. They install on the inside. We keep the magnetic key on the fridge so its close by when we need it. My son gives these cabinets a workout and theyve never failed. Im so used to using the magnet now that I literally dont even think about it anymore. If hes not in the kitchen and Im going to be opening the door a lot, its easy to set the lock to unlocked so you dont have to use the magnet at all. Weve used these locks for about 4 months now and I cant imagine a better solution. They just work. About the installation... Ive seen a few bad reviews with folks saying the lock didnt work or failed. The locks absolutely work. The way that they are designed, they cant not work. But they do need to be installed correctly. Once you install the lock, then you need to test it and make ever so slight adjustment (loosen screw and move back & forth) until its perfect. If you patiently install and test each lock, Id be hard to not be successful.

> 24 hourThese things work! At first it was a little difficult to get the two pieces lined up when I was originally installing on the cabinets but I figured it out. My youngest is 1 and he gets into everything. I just put one of these on all of the cabinets to keep him out of everything he can get his hands on. The magnet seems to work well even with thicker cabinets and it has a button you can push in when you dont want the cabinets locked, like when you are putting away dishes. If you dont use this unlock function, it can get frustrating using the magnet every time. Important note: place the magnet somewhere that is easy for you to access but not the kids. We lost the first magnet after the first week and had to order a generic one for child safety locks. I had to use some strong earth magnets in the mean time to still be able to get into my cabinets. It would be nice to have some sort of magnet holder for this but you can easily stick it on any metal appliance for easy access. I wish I had bought these 6 children ago!

> 24 hourWe have used different child proof locks and these are the best!! We just keep the key on the side of the refrigerator, so its always handy when we need it, AND there is another one on the side of the washing machine for the cabinets in the laundry room. The main reason for buying these locks is to keep the doors of the upper cabinets closed in case of an earthquake, as I would prefer not to lose my dishes or have to clean up the broken glass. We dont have many in our area, but we keep hearing about the chance of a larger quake. And being proactive, we bought a few sets of these and installed them on the top cabinets in the kitchen and laundry room. Once you get used to having to use the key to open the cabinet door, it becomes routine to just reach for the key to open it. And when I go to another house, I always hesitate before I reach to open the cabinet door, thinking if I need the key or not. We have had to add an additional piece of plywood behind some of the latches on the door because the cabinet shelf or frame was a bit farther back and did not allow the inside latch to extend down when closed to secure the door. That is really an easy fix. The upper latches that are installed on the bottom of a movable shelf, we have found that the shelf may push back a fraction of an inch and not make contact to latch. In that case, we have to make sure that the top latch is adjusted forward or just pull the shelf forward again. We have used these for over a year now and have no issues with them, they perform perfectly. Love them, durable and the best thing on the market!
