These are great. The function just as you would expect. Installation was no problem at all. The do exactly what they are made for to keep babies out. The only thing I would change about these it to make them come with more than one key. My 6 year old accidentally closed the cabinet with the key inside and I dont have a strong enough magnet to open the cabinet now. :( I guess we will be headed to the hardware store to find a strong magnet. I really like that the locks have an on off type switch. This makes it so you can keep the cabinet unlocked if you choose and lock it back when you need too. It would be great for grandparents who want to keep the kids out of certain places while they are visiting but dont need it locked all the time. Also our cabinets are kind of old and dont shut the best but these locks have had no problem working with that added difficulty. Overall great product. I would buy again. I might have to just to get another key.

My little one is 14 months and like other toddlers her age, she is beginning to get into everything. I knew we had to do something when I took my eye off of her one day and found her in front of the cabinet under the sink with the cleanser paper tab in her hand (nothing bad happened). I searched amazon and stumbled across these locks. When they came, I thought installation would be a pain, but I was wrong. The kit comes with templates that ingeniously make this a tough job to botch. You simply stick the template on one side, mark where the latch goes, peel the sticker and transfer it to the other cabinet, again marking your screw holes. While a drill is recommended I didnt use one and still have good results (and no accidental pokes through - I wouldnt be writing this review if that was the case). As far as function, these works great. We even had a cabinet that wouldnt stay closed which annoyed me and of course attracted the baby. Now, shes a bit confused as to why she cant get in. Shes tugged and tugged until she fell on her bottom and just doesnt get why they no longer open, so they are fairly strong. I would warn you that you will likely forget that the cabinets are locked, so dont be surprised when your baby proofing works on you. Id also caution that you put the key on a string and hang on a knob/hook, as my only fear is losing it and locking myself out of the cabinet. The fact that you can keep these unlocked is good when you are working in the kitchen and need to get in and out of cabinets. In case you are wondering, they do work on drawers as well. Safety first has thought this product all the way through so I have to give them credit.

We bought these for our kitchen, but Im going back to buy more for the bathroom cabinets too. When I first opened the packaging and read the installation instructions, I was a little intimidated because it looked really complex, but the stickers they give you to help mark where the screws go make it so easy. After installing the first one, I got into a groove and the rest were easy. The locks themselves are effective. I particularly like that they dont create a gap for little fingers to get squished in. My son gives them a good workout, practically hanging off the cabinet doors to try and open them, and they have held strong. I also love that you are able to disable the lock without removing it, for times when you dont need the cabinets babyproofed (e.g. when toddler 1 is old enough not to get into cabinets, and baby 2 isnt mobile yet), or if youre doing something in the kitchen and are in and out of the cabinets all day. You can then turn them back on and your cabinets are babyproofed again. Definitely the best cabinet locks I have seen or used.

This is one of those safety products that actually works but is an absolute PAIN to install. Once in, though, it has held up over almost a year of abuse from a very persistent now four and two year old. Every once in awhile, if you dont shut the door firmly, it wont quite latch all the way into place, but once latched my kids havent been able to pop it open again. The magnet it comes with works every time to open it up, and after a few times finding the right spot comes easy. However, installation... Im not a wimpy female. I use power tools correctly, can improvise with what I have at hand, and even read the directions before installing things. This was still one of the most difficult, annoying items to install to the point that I actually only put two of the six in, despite purchasing two full packs to do my entire kitchen in. Instead, I only did the two most important cabinets (sharp knives and chemicals for cleaning) and trusted in my ability to stop my kids before too much damage was done with the rest. So, in short: a good latch that is difficult to put in, but once done lasts forever.

I purchased two sets of these. The first set I purchased knowing I would need more than 8 locks. However, I didnt want to buy a ton of locks and risk not liking them. I installed the first set and was surprised by how easy they were to install, so long as you pre-drill first...which you should always do anyways. I didnt always get the parts lined up exactly how I would like, but that was user error. Luckily that was a minor issue since the lock does give you some wiggle room to line up everything properly before tightening. My baby girl has no change of getting into the cabinets, and she has certainly tried. The lock magnet key works as you would expect. It was surprisingly stronger than I expected. Since I liked the first set I bought, i went ahead and bought an identical second set. Now i have these on all the lower cabinets of my kitchen as well as my bathroom cabinets.

Like all baby locks, these take a bit of time to install and figure out how to do so. But once installed -- I love these! Theyre worth the extra $ from the super-cheap plastic hook-style latches (my husband tended to push too hard and snap them). I love that I can un-baby-proof any cupboard/drawer at any time by pushing the button if my little one isnt around, then re-lock when needed again. One tip: we placed a tiny piece of masking tape on each drawer/cupboard (on the outside) at the place where we need to hold the magnet to catch the latch to unlock it (this might make more sense when you see how the latches work in person??). This eliminates the guess-work for each one, since no 2 are in the exact same spot in my kitchen! While we love how these work, and I totally recommend them, they may not be for everyones kitchen. We have a fairly narrow u-shaped kitchen (about 5 feet from counter to counter). From any given spot, I am only a step or 2 away from where we keep the key for the baby locks (we keep it on the side of the microwave -- central in the kitchen). If you have a fairly large kitchen, or have an island in the middle that you are frequently walking around, these locks may not be for you, or consider putting out the extra $ for a second key so you can have 2 for easier access.

We have had these locks installed in our kitchen for over a year now. At first we only installed them on the cabinets but then my toddler started opening up drawers with forks and knives so I decided they needed to go everywhere. Overall, it was fairly easy to install in the cabinets, especially if you have a power drill. The drawers were a bit trickier as I had to remove them completely to install. Not impossible, just took a bit more time. Also, in our case, the drawers are not that tall so a right angle screwdriver attachment helped tremendously since I couldnt get the regular screwdriver to fit. The locks work great and its very easy to unlock with the key. The hardest part is remembering where the lock is on the drawers. The kicks do take up a little bit of space in the drawers, so if the drawer is small to begin with, be selective on where you place it. I love the lock/unlocked option. When Im cooking and my daughter is not around, I leave the cabinet or drawer unlocked so I dont have to get the key every few minutes if I need another spoon or pot. And then simply move back to locked position when Im finished. Its not necessary but certainly a nice to have feature. My daughter is 2 now and she still tries to open the drawers occasionally. She pulls them pretty hard sometimes but hasnt broken one yet so I would say they are pretty strong locks. Great product, definitely recommend if you have toddlers running around in the kitchen.

Wow, how nice to have the cabinets locked now! These magnetic locks are nice and strong...my little one cannot get into the cabinets when these locks are engaged. They dont budge at all! Its a little annoying to have to grab the magnet off the fridge to get a door open, but much less so than constantly worrying about what shes grabbing out of them. I would recommend buying an extra magnetic key, although we havent yet. My older daughter accidentally locked the key in their bathroom cabinet, but a magnetic clip we had on the fridge was strong enough to open the lock. Installation wasnt too bad. When one is finished the rest go quickly, especially if you have someone working with you. We only used a couple of the templates. Its easy to reuse them and we wanted to save a couple in case we needed them later. The only cabinet that was troublesome was the narrow one that stores baking sheets. Youll want to consider the width of the opening when planning use of the tools (finding a smaller drill for example...we had to borrow a neighbors for the one cabinet door). I love that they can be engaged or disengaged easily...just push the red/green button. When baby is napping and Im cleaning I dont have to keep reaching for the key. We havent placed these locks in the drawers yet, but Im sure that will soon be necessary as she is growing so fast! Overall these are great little locks and way more effective that those that allow the doors to open a bit (you know the ones...where you push down the plastic tab to open the door the rest of the way). No chance for pinched baby fingers with these :)

Weve had a number of foster kids through our home over the years. And many of them need to learn boundaries. Being able to reinforce those boundaries with a physical reminder is a frequent need. These locks work well, are easy to disengage when you need frequent access to a cupboard, and then reengage once youre done. Or just leave it permanently unlocked when you have no kids around. They can be tricky to line up when youre installing them. While they do provide templates for drilling screw holes, theyre not easy to use, or at least I had trouble figuring them out. So for a couple of locks I ended up drilling a couple pair of holes, before I found the ideal positioning of the lock unit. The catch was very straight forward, though you must pay attention to which way round you attach it, or youll need to flip it over to get it to work. It works well on cupboards, but we have found that draws with a separate fascia may be a problem, as theres nowhere to attach the lock such that it will engage with the catch without a lot of pay - and potential that an enthusiastic kid will tear through the catch. Make sure you keep the magnet safe (and out of reach of the children) so that you can open the locked doors - we did lose a magnet for a couple of hours - but fortunately we have 2 sets of these locks, thus 2 magnet keys, so it wasnt a disaster for us.

I had to get these types of things for fostering. I am a DIY, and I had the worst time putting these onto my cabinets. They are OK - do what they are supposed to do and they are far better than those baby locks. I cannot tell you how much of a pain it is to have to locate the magnet key in order to open a door. It would have been nice if it had come with more than one key because I am here to tell you - you need 2 keys (maybe even 3)!!! I have to have kitchen and bathrooms locked up and while these had the prerequisite number of locks, one key just doesnt do it for me. You have to be really careful because, yes, you too, can lock the key into the cabinet and then not be able to open the door. It was a real nightmare trying to properly attach these to the cabinets, even with the template and all. While I like them far better than any other deterrent, I look forward to the day that I can remove them.
