> 3 dayI was initially concerned about installing these, as the little key things are kinda annoying to have to grab. But if you can find a central place to store it near the doors, its good. Ive seen these before where the key rubbed away the finish, but i find the magnet is so strong that you dont even have to touch the cabinet to unlock - just get it close (about an inch or two) from the spot and you can hear the magnet unlock it. Pretty cool. We were forced to go with something like this as our cabinets are flush against each other and the drawers above, so there is no way to open them slightly and unlatch the push type with your finger. I wish the 8-pack came with a second key, as you might have to order another key. The keys alone are so expensive, I just ordered an extra 8-pack and have a few more latches just in case a few fail, or I find another spot to lock. Havent had that problem yet. Totally unexpected benefit - once open, you can push that little gray switch which unlocks them so you no longer need the key. This will be great when my son is old enough not to need them, we dont have to uninstall them and reinstall for the next kid. Also, if youre cooking, doing dishes, or something where you are in and out of the locked space but the kids arent around, you can unlock them and have easy access, then re-lock them all when youre done. Actually, turned out quite nice. The mounting is pretty easy. The lock on the door and the tang on the cabinet both install with a pair of screws. Pre-drill the holes so you dont splinter the wood, as the screws are short, but kind of thick. It comes with little stick on templates (enough for every mounting position) but I didnt use them A) because I didnt see them until I was 4 latches in, and B) because the plastic has wide spaces allowing some adjustment once installed. Get it pretty close, or use the guides for one or two, and you can probably eyeball it.

Greater than one weekGood quality, easy to install, good amount for the price. If installed correctly, these magnets keep the doors and drawers completely shut with no gap (unlike the little white clip/tabs). Avoids pinched fingers and tempting their curiosity by trying to pull items through the small gap in the door/drawer. Theyre also more aesthetically pleasing when the door/drawers are open. With twin 2 yr old boys who help each other get into everything, its nice not to worry about them playing in the kitchen and what utensils they can pull through the gap when Im not looking. I will use these magnets on all my doors/drawers around the house (restrooms, dresser drawers). Only four stars: I originally thought you could turn on/off the magnet. This would help when cooking so you dont have to keep reaching for the magnet key to open doors/drawers that have closed. This means that when I cook, I have to leave the doors/drawers that Im constantly using open or else I have to grab the magnet key with hands full of food.

> 3 dayThese are great. The function just as you would expect. Installation was no problem at all. The do exactly what they are made for to keep babies out. The only thing I would change about these it to make them come with more than one key. My 6 year old accidentally closed the cabinet with the key inside and I dont have a strong enough magnet to open the cabinet now. :( I guess we will be headed to the hardware store to find a strong magnet. I really like that the locks have an on off type switch. This makes it so you can keep the cabinet unlocked if you choose and lock it back when you need too. It would be great for grandparents who want to keep the kids out of certain places while they are visiting but dont need it locked all the time. Also our cabinets are kind of old and dont shut the best but these locks have had no problem working with that added difficulty. Overall great product. I would buy again. I might have to just to get another key.

> 3 dayEasy to install. Comes with only one magnet of course, and the addition costs a fortune. Don’t buy the overpriced magnet, I’m using a harbor freight 2$ magnet set. Work like a charm. 5 stars for the product, minus 2 stars for greediness.

> 3 dayThese work great once they are installed - however, I did have a heck of a time figuring out how to get the first one in. It probably took the better part of an hour and a half to get the lock and the catch lined up properly, with several incorrectly drilled pilot holes into the cabinet face as a result. I think the difficulty is that we have frameless (IKEA) cabinets, so I was installing the locking system to the side of the drawers. After installing 4 of these locks on the highest priority cabinets, I think we are good for now. The installed locks work well, except I think one of them needs a slight adjustment which I think can be achieved by nudging the lock within the wide screw opening so that it catches the catch a little better. Overall, these are great because you dont see anything on the outside of your cabinets, they can be turned off when you dont need the cabinets locked, and they seem to be sturdy.

> 3 dayI have made similar statements to other child safety products. But, it’s worth noting and it makes me laugh. I absolutely love the look on my 2yo’s face once he has learned he can no longer freely roam through out the kitchen and bathroom products. It’s almost as he saying, “dude. Dad. Mom. Why will you not let me play with the knives and cleaning products??...” The product works great, functionality is great. Very few complaints. Ultimately you a paying for esthetics, both in cost as well as effort. It’s not that it is terribly difficult to install (remember reading is fundamental. READ the instructions!), just monotonous and gets old. However, when it is all said and done. The cabinets look good. And often you forget they are even there. That is until you realize you can’t open the cabinet, and then forget where your wife told you to put the magnet. Or, your forget to put the magnet where your wife told you to. And she is asking you, “where did you put the magnet?” And remember, it should bring you as much joy, as it does me; watching your child become extremely disappointed that he can’t open the cabinet to spray his face with windex or suck on a toilet bowl brush.... Kids have zero chill.

> 3 dayI love these locks. I originally bought the cheaper, non-magnet version made by the same manufacturer and they were AWFUL. I was reticent to buy another Safety 1st product because the first were so very bad. Boy, am I glad I did. The installation instructions are over-complicated. They have this if A) then...If B) then...if C) then...scenarios and it was confusing. At the end of the day, they are much simpler to install than the instructions lead you to believe. There is a nifty adhesive template that allows you drill holes exactly where they need to go on the door/drawer and on the small plastic catch. Once the catch holes are marked, you remove the strip on the opposing side to reveal a thicker padded adhesive strip. Then you close the door/drawer on the adhesive strip and then open it again, and the entire template transfers from the catch side to the door or drawer. Now that the mounting template is on your drawer/door the opposite side of the template has drill marks for the magnet part. Its an effective design. In some cases, I was able to use 1 template for two installs which is good because you might get one that wont transfer during the close and open transfer. If that happens, that template is hosed and you have to use another one which means you have one less for another lock. I love these locks especially because you can easily disengage them, so you dont have to use the key. This is useful because we are foster parents and dont always have kids around. I am super happy with these locks. They work beautifully.

> 3 dayIm a big fan of this lock system. My main issue is the price, but considering what you get I think its worth it. At first, I went to a local store and got the usual cabinet locks that you push down after opening the door slightly. I was trying to save money, and these were something like 20 latches for $8. Well, I stopped installing them after the first one because I hated it so much. Its flimsy and Im sure itll break, especially because the door can open about 4 before it catches! That surprised me. I figured it would open about 2 at most so I could stick my finger in there and clear the latch, but no, my son could stick his entire arm and shoulder into the cabinet and reach a LOT of stuff. So I bit the bullet and bought my first kit of Safety 1st magnetic locks and Im glad I did. Every complaint I had about the traditional cabinet latches was eliminated by these locks. I wouldnt say their construction is perfect, but its just fine for the purpose. I love that the door cant open more than a couple mm, which should help prolong the life of the locks because my toddler isnt enjoying the experience of opening and slamming the door. I also LOVE the ability to disable the locks easily. When we put our son down and Im planning on doing a lot in the kitchen, Ill unlock the most-used doors and drawers, and Im not slowed down by having to use a key. Its great! Installing the locks is pretty easy, but youll need tools like a drill. If your cabinets have a fairly large inset panel, you might have some trouble installing these locks, especially if your cabinet doors also overlap the opening significantly. I only had that problem a couple of times and worked around it by finding a better placement for the locks. After the first few installs, I found I stopped needing the [excellent] templates for the most part, and could figure it out on my own. The drawers were the trickiest and most difficult, but I eventually got those done too. I cant say enough great things about these locks. Because of our floorplan, we have no way to keep our toddler out of the kitchen, and I wouldnt want to anyway. Its nice to not have to worry about him getting into every single cabinet. NOTE: do not buy the single key. It currently goes for $9 which is absurd. If you need an extra key, buy some strong rare earth magnets for your fridge, and glue one to some sort of handle. The keys are nothing more than a magnet encased in plastic.

> 3 dayThese are great if you dont want your child locks to be visible or leave small openings for cabinets to close on little fingers. You do need to drill them in to the cabinet, but everything is done out of sight, so we are able to use them even though we dont own our home. Yes, they are a little bit of a pain to deal with, but I dont think there are child safety locks out there that arent at least somewhat of a pain. Once you get the hang of opening them (you have to hold the magnet in EXACTLY the right spot and open the door while its still positioned there) and remember to grab the key before trying to open the door (it does take a little while), these work perfectly. Theyve made our cabinet doors so uninteresting to our very curious and active 7-month-old that he no longer even bothers trying to open them. I am giving them 4 stars only because one of the locks didnt work properly and we cant use it. Fortunately, we didnt need that one so I let it go.

> 3 dayThese are great locks. They come with all the hardware to screw them into the cupborard. They are not evident from the outside, sometimes I forget theyre there. I do not worry about my little one getting into the cupboards. The locks are strong, even my husband wouldnt be able to get the cupboards without tearing them apart. I like that they have the unlock feature. Its just a quick flip of the switch and the cupboards open normally. Dont lose the magnetic key. Any magnet would do, but the key is very nice. I recommend picking up a spare, I have an irrational fear of locking the key in the cupboard (because be honest, who hasnt locked their keys in the car at some point in their lives.) At first we kept the key on the stainless steel microwave, but it scratched the finish. Now it lives on the spice rack. I wish these worked on my lazy susan and oven doors. I cant use them with the kitchen island either because of the configuration of the doors.
