I know these are probably made for young children, but I bought them because my son has autism and he is no longer little - he can reach all the same cabinets I can because hes almost a teenager. He thinks he can do more than he actually can... such as experimental cooking in the middle of the night :-( So I bought a pack of these to test them out. Figured if they didnt work, Id give them to someone with smaller kids to lock them out of lower cabinets. Installed one and tried to pull the door open afterwards - I am a very big, tall woman - door didnt budge. Id have to literally rip it off the hinges to open it. Have not had any trouble as of yet with my son opening any cabinets now. Might install them on drawers too, havent decided yet. Of course this means I have to wear the key on my person (even in my sleep, or hide it well) but small sacrifice for a kitchen that doesnt look like a cyclone hit it.

My two toddlers love to open their dresser drawers and pull out all of their neatly folded clothes. The traditional baby locks that allow you to open cabinets a couple inches wouldnt work because my kids could still reach the clothes and the wraparound locks dont work for us because my daughter knows how to get them open. These locks to the rescue. They dont allow you to open the drawer at all until unlocked which is great but this perk comes with a few downsides: 1) The key. Were always misplacing the key. Regular fridge magnets arent strong enough and without the key you cant access the contents your securing so weve had some frustrating mornings trying to find the key so I can get my kids dressed. This can obviously be rectified by having more than one key (but theyre expensive!) or not being careless with it like I apparently am. 2) Install. These wouldnt work on our dresser as is because the drawer face was extended past the actual box part of the drawer. This meant that no matter how we installed it, the magnet part of the lock wouldnt reach the piece its supposed to hold on to in order to keep the drawer shut. My husband rectified this by custom cutting pieces of wood to screw into the dresser, which we then attached the locks to. This was a time consuming process since each drawer level and size had to be different but in the end its working perfectly. 3) Finding the lock after installed. Again, really a trivial matter in the grand scheme of things but sometimes I have to slide that key back and forth on the dresser to get the right spot to unlock it. Maybe if your doing cabinets and can instal in the same lower hand corner or something this wouldnt be an issue for you but for us its annoying. Id definitely recommend these locks if the others dont work for your situation. Learn from our mistake and invest in an extra key though.

We have used these locks for the past 10 months and I absolutely love them. We installed them in both the kitchen and bathrooms and they work perfectly. There is a bit of a learning curve to install them – I want to say the first one took over 30 minutes to learn how to line up, but then each subsequent lock took just a couple minutes (as others have noted, there are videos online you can refer to if needed). It also takes a minute to teach visitors how to use them. Now that we have an extremely active toddler they definitely do the trick, holding up even when he pulls on the handles and throws his entire weight back to try and open a cabinet (yes, toddlers do that). Overall, this is a great option if you want to avoid the more cumbersome plastic white cabinet locks all over your kitchen or bathroom. We did buy an extra key (just to make access as convenient as possible while cooking).

We have used different child proof locks and these are the best!! We just keep the key on the side of the refrigerator, so its always handy when we need it, AND there is another one on the side of the washing machine for the cabinets in the laundry room. The main reason for buying these locks is to keep the doors of the upper cabinets closed in case of an earthquake, as I would prefer not to lose my dishes or have to clean up the broken glass. We dont have many in our area, but we keep hearing about the chance of a larger quake. And being proactive, we bought a few sets of these and installed them on the top cabinets in the kitchen and laundry room. Once you get used to having to use the key to open the cabinet door, it becomes routine to just reach for the key to open it. And when I go to another house, I always hesitate before I reach to open the cabinet door, thinking if I need the key or not. We have had to add an additional piece of plywood behind some of the latches on the door because the cabinet shelf or frame was a bit farther back and did not allow the inside latch to extend down when closed to secure the door. That is really an easy fix. The upper latches that are installed on the bottom of a movable shelf, we have found that the shelf may push back a fraction of an inch and not make contact to latch. In that case, we have to make sure that the top latch is adjusted forward or just pull the shelf forward again. We have used these for over a year now and have no issues with them, they perform perfectly. Love them, durable and the best thing on the market!

We love these locks!!!! The very best child locks EVEr and we have used so many! You install by screws, not hard, but a necessary piece of info. The nicest feature besides the absolutely effective child locking is that they have a switch which allows you to disengage the locking mechanism. This feature is so nice, especially for those who may only have children around sometimes, grandparents, friends, or in between stages on kids... and you dont always want t deal with a safety lock. Imagine having your granbabies around and not having your DVD cupboard exploited, or your Tupperware drawer I will never be without these again. I even lock the toy cupboard with them giving my only one toy at a time rule some needed backing. I keep the magnetic lock on my fridge and having a few extras isnt unhelpful. I have a few different brands trying or a better price after loving these, and while the others are work fine, these certainly feel the highest quality. Take note, if you do different brands they may use opposite ends of the magnet, making the various keys less compatible with the other sets. Once again love these, and thus is the brand I will buy more of if I need them. If this was helpful, please say so, it makes me happy to know Ive helped someone.

We bought these for our kitchen, but Im going back to buy more for the bathroom cabinets too. When I first opened the packaging and read the installation instructions, I was a little intimidated because it looked really complex, but the stickers they give you to help mark where the screws go make it so easy. After installing the first one, I got into a groove and the rest were easy. The locks themselves are effective. I particularly like that they dont create a gap for little fingers to get squished in. My son gives them a good workout, practically hanging off the cabinet doors to try and open them, and they have held strong. I also love that you are able to disable the lock without removing it, for times when you dont need the cabinets babyproofed (e.g. when toddler 1 is old enough not to get into cabinets, and baby 2 isnt mobile yet), or if youre doing something in the kitchen and are in and out of the cabinets all day. You can then turn them back on and your cabinets are babyproofed again. Definitely the best cabinet locks I have seen or used.

These locks are great for childproofing. We have used them in the kitchen and under the bathroom sink where cleaners and soaps are stored. -There is NO unsightly padlock device on the outside of your cabinets - you cannot tell the locks are there, so your kitchen doesnt look like a nursery -There is an off/on switch! So, if youre cooking and are going to have to open the same drawer ten times, you dont have to keep using the magnet. Just unlock it for cooking and secure it back when youre done. -The magnet sticks to the fridge, so we always know where it is Only downside is that sometimes it can be annoying having to grab the magnet to open whatever drawer I want, especially if the cabinet I want access to is across the kitchen from the magnet. But - Id rather have that inconvenience than have to stare at giant white, plastic locks on the outside of cabinets. You also have to learn where the magnets are, because theres not really any way to see where exactly you should put the key. Install them all in the same basic spot on each door so that the lock is easy to find each time. I just scoot the key until I hear a thunk if I didnt catch the magnet on the first try. Overall - I am very pleased.

It may sound weird, but I kind of love these things. When our son started walking at 10 months he got into everything and caught his fingers in drawers several times. We installed these all over the kitchen and in the bathrooms and they work great. The downside to these is that its a pain to find the magnet every time you want to open a cabinet. We solved this problem by buying a pack of neodymium magnets and fashioning them with a little handle to make them easier to grip (or you could just buy extra magnet keys). We put one key on the sink (metal) and one on the fridge, which was just about within arms reach of every cabinet in the kitchen. I liked these so much I build a bookshelf with secret compartments that have no handles and can only be opened with magnets. If you screw the magnetic piece down to hard it could cause the lever to bind up an not release. If this happens back off on the screws a little bit until it pops out. Theyve been in for 2+ years and havent had a single issue yet.

These are great locks. They come with all the hardware to screw them into the cupborard. They are not evident from the outside, sometimes I forget theyre there. I do not worry about my little one getting into the cupboards. The locks are strong, even my husband wouldnt be able to get the cupboards without tearing them apart. I like that they have the unlock feature. Its just a quick flip of the switch and the cupboards open normally. Dont lose the magnetic key. Any magnet would do, but the key is very nice. I recommend picking up a spare, I have an irrational fear of locking the key in the cupboard (because be honest, who hasnt locked their keys in the car at some point in their lives.) At first we kept the key on the stainless steel microwave, but it scratched the finish. Now it lives on the spice rack. I wish these worked on my lazy susan and oven doors. I cant use them with the kitchen island either because of the configuration of the doors.

I have made similar statements to other child safety products. But, it’s worth noting and it makes me laugh. I absolutely love the look on my 2yo’s face once he has learned he can no longer freely roam through out the kitchen and bathroom products. It’s almost as he saying, “dude. Dad. Mom. Why will you not let me play with the knives and cleaning products??...” The product works great, functionality is great. Very few complaints. Ultimately you a paying for esthetics, both in cost as well as effort. It’s not that it is terribly difficult to install (remember reading is fundamental. READ the instructions!), just monotonous and gets old. However, when it is all said and done. The cabinets look good. And often you forget they are even there. That is until you realize you can’t open the cabinet, and then forget where your wife told you to put the magnet. Or, your forget to put the magnet where your wife told you to. And she is asking you, “where did you put the magnet?” And remember, it should bring you as much joy, as it does me; watching your child become extremely disappointed that he can’t open the cabinet to spray his face with windex or suck on a toilet bowl brush.... Kids have zero chill.
