Speed! Speed at least doubled on an older DELL machine. Boot times dropped. Really good price! Formatted it EXT4 with no issues (as expected) and a full version of LINUX installed about as fast as Ive ever had it install. UPDATES WERE DEFINITELY VERY fast also! Full Disclosure: Ive purchased many SAMSUNG SSDs, in fact they are the only ones Ive purchased. They just never seem to give my any problems.

I dont. know what Samsung are up to but I got my SSD drive in a small white box with zero other packaging. sticker that is placed over the barcode says new item - if so, where is the original packaging? Also learned recently that Samsung have been swapping their internal components for cheaper ones with worse performance. Hugely disappointing.

Upgraded my 8 year old laptop. The performance boost gave it some new life. Well worth the money.

Purchase this exact drive three years ago, are used it for maybe three months total , and purchased again within the past 60 days. My issue with this solid-state drive, is that I have ordered it twice. The first time if function perfectly for two years; but, considering that they should have a five year life I ordered a second one when it began malfunctioning. Unfortunately, I waited too long to install the second drive that I ordered, end it began having issues immediately. I was unable to return it. This is probably my time. It seems unreliable, and unless you install it within a few days of receiving it (which let’s be realistic most of us are too busy for this) it may be better going with a different brand all together. Initially I was going to send my original drive to Samsung for warranty work; however, my drive was nearly full and I was very much afraid of losing my information. I purchased a second hard drive, it malfunctioned, but my 30 day warranty had expired. Now I have two malfunctioning drives and I’m out over $1000 in just hard drives. Whether I waited too long or not is a relevant; the relevant in this review, is that two drives from the same company were bad. One began malfunctioning within a month of use, and the second begin malfunctioning upon installation. Also, I would like to add that I am a computer repair technician. I made this purchase from my personal computers. I definitely know what I’m doing so this is most definitely not user error.

After being quoted $400 to have this installed in my mid 2012 MacBook I decided it’s worth tackling myself. I watched a couple of YouTube videos and it’s ridiculously easy, I used a trial copy of a program called carbon copy, attached this drive to a USB, opened carbon copy, it prompts you to add your current hard drive and next the target drive, hit start and it transfers an exact copy to the new drive which you then install into the Mac and your done. Make sure however that you copy your start up program or you’ll be met with a question mark. It’s definitely worth giving it a go, I did have a few minutes of head scratching but it was worth it, MacBook is so fast now and I saved $280!

I was extremely hesitant to switch my computer over from an HDD to a SSD. I didnt think id get the write speeds as advertised, didnt think Id see any significant difference in the operation of my PC and thought the cloning process would be cumbersome. I was wrong on all 3 accounts! I have a 4-5 year old Dell desktop that was SLOW to boot up and SLOW to load programs. Installing and cloning this SSD was a snap and the boot up speed are AWESOME. I wish I would have made the switch a year or two ago. If you are still running your operating system from an HDD, switch to this SSD now... you will not regret it.

This is a great SSD and using it with the Magician software it works great, my laptop is at least 200% faster
