We have a three level house, and previously had two plug-in uprights stored in our carpeted basement and carpeted upper level respectively, and had to haul one of them either up or down to clean the main level, which is all hardwoods except for a carpeted main level guest suite (which I use as my office) and a few area rugs. We adopted a rescue pup who stays on the main level, so we needed something more convenient that could handle her hair and tracked dirt along with food debris in the kitchen across the hardwoods, area rugs and the one carpeted room, while preferably lasting long enough to cover the entire ~1850sqft main level in one go. After a lot of research, I chose the Vertex Duo. When I first received the vacuum I tested it out through the entire main level. Not only did the vacuum last the entire level, but it still had a solid power bar remaining. I didnt realize how dusty our hardwoods were!!! Halfway through vacuuming, I noticed in the foyer that what I had vacuumed was glossy, while the floor ahead of me was almost matte!! The light on the front of the vacuum is excellent as well for showing dust and debris which are otherwise difficult to see! Ive been using the Duo regularly for a few months now and it has been a blessing (and is actually fun to use). I keep it on hardwood setting with regular suction over our hardwoods and smaller rugs / runners, only occasionally having to pull the turbo trigger, and it does a wonderful job. I use it on the carpet setting across larger 6x8 and 7x10 area rugs and in my office, and have never had to use the turbo function for it to get everything! Every once in a while I have to go over a string the dog pulled off her tug toy or similar a couple times, but the vacuum always gets it and never tangles. It leaves a clean floor with nice vacuum lines in my office as well. I can often track where my 8yo son has been by following the crumb trail - the Duo excels at making those trails disappear as well! Im 62, so I love being able to unlock and flex the vacuum to get under couches, tables, desks and such without bending over / messing up my back! Ive also used all the tips as well! The anti-allergen tip is awesome for our TV, tables, blinds, fans, etc... It swivels so you can get both above and below fan blades! The brush is great for furniture, air registers / returns, etc... The brush unclips to expose the pet muli-tool which I have only used a couple times since our dog isnt allowed on furniture, but it did well pulling various fibers off, so Id assume it would do well with pet hair as well. The handheld portion is light weight, and the edging tool does great on baseboards, corners, cars, etc... I couldnt be happier with this vacuum - it does everything I hoped it would and more, and offers a huge bang for the buck! Im not joking when I said its actually fun to use - I find myself vacuuming more now than ever (and not just because we have a dog)...

I hesitated justifying spending this much money but bit the bullet. I am so happy I did. I live out in the country where there is constant dust or mud depending on weather and also have three dogs in house. One is long haired. The suction was impressive and easy to operate and to dismantle to attach other devices to reach different areas. I could clean easily behind t.v. and by the toilets. I love the flex so i can go underneather funiture where I couldnt reach before. Also the container is a nice size to accumilate so I am not always emptying the bin. I love how I dont have to mess with the cord which is bonus. Easy to store with the flex and doesnt take much room up. Overall so happy I made my life easier and cleaner with this vaccum. It came with batteries, a charger, and other devices to attach and detach depending what you want to clean. Now I have something also to clean my inside of car and dont have to drive to a carwash for a vaccum. Overall very happy! Also forgot its nice and light. If there is cobwebs on cieling I can reach them with ease.

I have had a previous model for 4 years, and it was time to replace it. The first one was really great. It worked on both hard surfaces, and upto medium pile parpet. The new model arrived a few days ago, and was easy to assemble. The batteries charged up fine. The new model works well on hard floors, but when it comes to carpet, thats a different story. It works fine on very low pile, but the new design uses a smaller diameter wheel making it very difficult to move on medium pile parpet. I cant imagine using it on deep pile. The unit controls are also rather slow to respond to operation changes. Too bad the manufacturer didnt think this all the way through.

I wanted to love this. I thought this would be the cleaner I would have for the rest of my life! Im elderly now, and its just to heavy to get the high parts of my shiplap rooms. I love the cordless feature, BUT to get a really dusty area, I need to use the “turbo” charge trigger. This causes the batery to lose power very quickly. The turbo trigger took every bit of dust off of my window blinds! Worked GREAT! I had to recharge twice to accomplish cleaning my living room. I called customer service, who answered quickly, and was friendly. I was told that a full charge (which takes over 3 hours), will be used up with your finger on the “TURBO” trigger in approximately 11 minutes! This needs to be addressed! Another plus is its very easy to get under furniture without getting on your hands and knees! Shark, you have made a very good attempt at a creating a great cordless vacumn. It really only fails a five star review, because Im elderly now, and find it too heavy to use it with the wand to reach high places, AND the battery needs more strength! I would grade it with a B. If you are young and strong, and want it for quick jobs this might be very good for you. Im going back to a corded model with no batteries. I tried to like this.

Buy it no matter what, that’s all I can say. When we purchased corded vacuums I got the Shark Navigator and haven’t gone back to any other corded brand. In choosing cordless though I always thought it was more of a gimmick than a true tool so I tended to buy cheap knock offs to just get pet hair from the floors and possibly something heavier like dirt. Anything else and the two cordless vacuums were so underpowered that I never believed it would come close to really cleaning up much at all. When our third cheap brand cordless died in less than a year, I thought I’d upscale to something that might last over a year. I took nearly a month researching brand after brand to find one that was both affordable, reliable and powerful enough for us. Ultimately I bought this Shark Vertex for the following reasons: 1) At $365 it was half the price of a Dyson. It was still twice as much as what I’d paid for cheap no name brands but I needed something that would actually last. While not cheap, I could afford it. 2) The problem with no name brands is that if one piece is lost or broken they don’t tend to sell parts for them. With this Shark I made sure that there were replacement parts for anything I might break, and there are. Any repairs down the line should cost tens of dollars from now on, not another $100-150 to buy another cheap cordless to throw away a few months later. 3) This thing is powerful. Wow. None of the other cordless vacuums I had really did much on carpet. The brush might grab some of the detritus on the rugs but it was a 50-50 crap shoot. As for pet hair, that was even worse. This Vertex is pretty incredible. On carpet mode I’m able to get it on my deep plush rug and get pet hair and anything else right off. You know it’s working when you can’t see anything on the rug but after you go over it there’s all this captured filth sitting in the container! Not only does the rotating head work really well (and especially the anti hair tangling feature) but the suction is very good. Obviously not as good as the corded but definitely good enough. We are alternating cord-cordless every weekend so that we get extra deep cleaning every other week. Battery power is impressive. We’ve done the two large rugs downstairs, the hard wood floors, the carpeted stairs and four carpeted bedrooms all one one charge-just. But that it’s able to do all of that is really impressive. Additionally you can also purchase another battery for $80 if you think you might runout if power. The “crack” feature which allows the handle to look like a broken arm and get to almost a 90 degree angle so that you can get under furniture is a pretty nifty feature. I thought it was a silly gimmick but I use it quite a bit. One thing that bothers me though is that the little toggle that releases the straight arm into the angle is a small plastic piece that I’m pretty sure I’m going to accidentally break off one day-need to check if THAT part is replaceable. Couple other things I didn’t like: There’s no wall mount but that’s probably because it’s heavy at nearly 10 lbs. Took a couple uses to get used to the new weight but once you get used to it, it’s definitely worth the trade off of some extra weight for extra power. The other thing is that the roller head is not only larger because of the dual rollers, but it’s pretty noisy on the carpet mode. Again, I think it’s a fair trade off to get a louder heavier roller head for much more effective cleaning power. All in all this vacuum is a keeper. The vacuum is warrantied for defects for up to 5 years! For normAl wear and tear of parts that need to be replaced, those items are available on the Shark store and on Amazon.

I used this vacuum about 20 times and then went to get it out from the cabinet that I store it in and it wouldnt unfold. now the selling point for me with this vacuum is that it stores in a small under sink cabinet. the other selling point would be for the vacuum to vacuum. but with the vertex stick not unfolding, the vacuum is useless. I couldnt find the part on their website to order so I called and they wanted too much for it so I just scrapped it. When it worked, it was amazing but, as with most shark products ive purchased, if a small part of it goes bad, its better to just find a replacement than to try to repair it. Going back to my Kirby

I tried the dyson v15 detect before this product and I loved it. It is not a Dyson for sure but these days I couldn’t rationalize paying for the $800 vacuum so I sent it back and started looking for one that was the closest to this dyson. This one is it. Although it is much more bulky and doesn’t vacuum under the fridge, stove etc it seems the suction is pretty similar and has other features that for me are better like folding to store and extension for under beds. I did not want to use the storage for the dyson since it involved placing screws in my wall, new home equals a hell na for me. Emptying the canister is similar as well, both do not hold large amounts but that doesn’t bother me to empty a canister. Overall, with half the price of the Dyson and other features I mentioned this is definitely the better buy.

Great. Love it for quick easy clean ups after our twin toddlers. Took stars off bc it was missing the brush attachment. Not worth sending back but i want to get all of what i pay for

I would recommend it for anyone who wants to go cordless but doesnt want to pay the price for a Dyson. Pros: Works great on tile and wood. Love the bending feature for going under tables and chairs. Good on carpet and rugs if you vacuum regularly. Beater doesnt tangle with dog hair as advertised! Going cordless is great and is a time saver. Battery life is fine but we divide the chore - upstairs one day, downstairs another day. Cons: Will not stand up with battery connected-if you need to pause to move something you will have to lean it against something or lay it down. This is an annoyance that I can live with. 3 hours to fully charge battery. If you have a large area that uses the whole charge it would make sense to buy an extra battery just like you would for any cordless tool.
