> 24 hourBuy it no matter what, that’s all I can say. When we purchased corded vacuums I got the Shark Navigator and haven’t gone back to any other corded brand. In choosing cordless though I always thought it was more of a gimmick than a true tool so I tended to buy cheap knock offs to just get pet hair from the floors and possibly something heavier like dirt. Anything else and the two cordless vacuums were so underpowered that I never believed it would come close to really cleaning up much at all. When our third cheap brand cordless died in less than a year, I thought I’d upscale to something that might last over a year. I took nearly a month researching brand after brand to find one that was both affordable, reliable and powerful enough for us. Ultimately I bought this Shark Vertex for the following reasons: 1) At $365 it was half the price of a Dyson. It was still twice as much as what I’d paid for cheap no name brands but I needed something that would actually last. While not cheap, I could afford it. 2) The problem with no name brands is that if one piece is lost or broken they don’t tend to sell parts for them. With this Shark I made sure that there were replacement parts for anything I might break, and there are. Any repairs down the line should cost tens of dollars from now on, not another $100-150 to buy another cheap cordless to throw away a few months later. 3) This thing is powerful. Wow. None of the other cordless vacuums I had really did much on carpet. The brush might grab some of the detritus on the rugs but it was a 50-50 crap shoot. As for pet hair, that was even worse. This Vertex is pretty incredible. On carpet mode I’m able to get it on my deep plush rug and get pet hair and anything else right off. You know it’s working when you can’t see anything on the rug but after you go over it there’s all this captured filth sitting in the container! Not only does the rotating head work really well (and especially the anti hair tangling feature) but the suction is very good. Obviously not as good as the corded but definitely good enough. We are alternating cord-cordless every weekend so that we get extra deep cleaning every other week. Battery power is impressive. We’ve done the two large rugs downstairs, the hard wood floors, the carpeted stairs and four carpeted bedrooms all one one charge-just. But that it’s able to do all of that is really impressive. Additionally you can also purchase another battery for $80 if you think you might runout if power. The “crack” feature which allows the handle to look like a broken arm and get to almost a 90 degree angle so that you can get under furniture is a pretty nifty feature. I thought it was a silly gimmick but I use it quite a bit. One thing that bothers me though is that the little toggle that releases the straight arm into the angle is a small plastic piece that I’m pretty sure I’m going to accidentally break off one day-need to check if THAT part is replaceable. Couple other things I didn’t like: There’s no wall mount but that’s probably because it’s heavy at nearly 10 lbs. Took a couple uses to get used to the new weight but once you get used to it, it’s definitely worth the trade off of some extra weight for extra power. The other thing is that the roller head is not only larger because of the dual rollers, but it’s pretty noisy on the carpet mode. Again, I think it’s a fair trade off to get a louder heavier roller head for much more effective cleaning power. All in all this vacuum is a keeper. The vacuum is warrantied for defects for up to 5 years! For normAl wear and tear of parts that need to be replaced, those items are available on the Shark store and on Amazon.

> 24 hourThis is my first cordless and so far it’s great! Takes some patience learning how to set up and clean. A little more expensive than I expected but I’ve been waiting for the chance to get a hair free roller and a longer run battery and this beauty delivers.

> 24 hourTL; DR: This Shark vacuum sucks, and not the way you want it to. I already put it back in the box to return it for a Dyson. I would NOT recommend this vacuum to anyone, friend or foe. I bought this Shark Vertex Cordless to replace our old, dying Dyson V6 Animal Cordless. I read many reviews and watched a ton of YouTube videos comparing vacuums when I started looking for a new vacuum. I had a Shark Navigator Pro before the Dyson, and I know Shark makes a good, powerful vacuum, so I was excited to try this new model and technology. Basing my opinion of using the vacuum on having used a Dyson for the last 4-5 years, I was more than disappointed with the Shark Vertex. The Shark Vertex seemed like it was great. It went together easily and the crevice tool did well between the couch cushions and around the edges of the house. I liked the flexible arm that let the vacuum bend to get really far under furniture like my tables and sideboards. It was easy to empty the canister and easy to use. Thats all of the pros. After using the vacuum around the house for about 30 minutes, a clog developed in the first joint of the vacuum, which is the joint that takes the dirt from the head into the tube to take it up to the canister. This clog (half of which is pictured; my husband grabbed and threw out the first half before I could get it all done) was so big it extended from the opening of the vacuum suction hole on the bottom of the motorized head, all the way up to where the head attached to the main long arm. I grabbed a pair of tweezers to grip the clog and pull it out, but that didnt work. Then I got the screwdriver to try and pull it out, but only got the initial portion of the clog out that way. After looking into the vacuum heads mechanics, I found that there are three lock screws on the underneath that allow you to take off the bottom guard piece to access the suction tube, which means Shark knew this was a problem and they fixed it by giving more work for the consumer to do. After removing the thin little bottom guard piece, I was able to use a cat wand toy to shove through the bottom to push the clog out the other side. This mess pictured on my couch was the result. And after all that, I still had to put the vacuum back together to finish vacuuming up all the dirt and hair mess that the vacuum made. As someone who has severe dust and environmental allergies, I dont exactly want to play with clogs of my allergens in order to get my vacuum running. I also have a large house, two long haired Siberian cats, four teenagers, and a job. The LAST THING I have time for is housework and messing around with crappy vacuums. For the price point, Id expect this vacuum to actually work properly, and not take a ton of work to use it. The entire thing felt wobbly when fully connected and used to vacuum floors, so I didnt see the expected excellent quality of materials or workmanship for the price point either. Furthermore, as several reviewers stated (and I dismissed as being overly sensitive), the vacuum did shock me multiple times with static electricity buildup, even though I was carrying my metal cell phone to try to help discharge the shock. I live in New Hampshire, and yes, it is dry during the winter and something Ive come to expect is shocks from static charges, which is why I dismissed others concerns about the shocks. However I quickly became aware that they werent overstating their issues, it was very annoying. Another con to this vacuum is that when I was vacuuming my couch where the cats lay, it wouldnt pick up all the cat fur regardless of how many passes I made. The suction just wasnt powerful enough, or maybe the static buildup offset the suction, gluing the cat hair to the couch in dreadlocked strands. Besides all this, the vacuum was very heavy and bulky, and I didnt like it almost immediately after I started using it. Im not the best housekeeper as a busy mom with depression, and our Dyson battery wasnt holding a charge anymore and the unit was on its last legs as it was beat pretty hard during daily use so it wasnt performing up to par. So maybe there was just a larger than normal buildup of dirt and cat hair that made the clog inevitable, but honestly I have enough to deal with, and for $350 I expect a vacuum to just WORK. I buy vacuums to make my life easier, otherwise Id just sweep the floors and take my rugs outside to beat them like they did in 1889. This thing will be going back to Amazon tomorrow, and Ill be placing my order for the Dyson V11 Animal. Id rather pay twice as much and know for a fact that my vacuum will work when I need it to, how I need it to. Save yourself the headache and dont get this Shark Vertex Cordless vacuum.

> 24 hour*SUMMARY: IF YOU HAVE LONG-HAIR DOGS ITS TRULY TANGLE FREE! WORKS WELL ON THICK RUGS BUT FOR FULL PRICE THE SUCTION IS TOO WEAK* Let me start by saying I have a husky who sheds A LOT. I have to sweep my house twice a day just to keep up with her hair shedding, if not it’s in piles around the edges of the house. Every vacuum that claims to be “tangle free” or “made for pets” are crap and hair gets tangled with every use. I was very skeptical this vacuum was actually tangle free (bc it does have bristles! Not just fins like the photos show) but to my surprise- NOT ONE HAIR has gotten tangled in the roller after weeks of use!! (See pictures) Got this vacuum for like 40% off during Black Friday deals. I think it was absolutely worth what I paid- but almost $300 full price is a bit much in my opinion bc it’s not that strong. Ive had much stronger for $150. But for what I paid, I’m very happy with the quality of the product, how lightweight it is, ease of use, battery life, & most importantly that it’s truly tangle free w/ pet hair. That alone makes it worth it for me. ** Things to know: 1. Truly is TANGLE FREE for pet hair (yay!!) only part that gets hairs stuck are the tiny wheels on the corners (see pic) but it doesn’t affect the functionality of the vacuum whatsoever. 2. Its very lightweight- I am 9 months pregnant & have problems with my blood pressure going up w/ little activity & have to be careful. I can easily pick this up & vacuum my couch with it or my rugs w/ no problem. 3. It’s LOUD - low setting isn’t too bad, but high setting needed for carpet/rugs is obnoxious & sounds like a leaf blower. For what I paid, doesn’t bother me. 4. It’s very top heavy & cannot stand on its own - but that should be expected with any brand of vacuum that is this lightweight cordless style. It can lean against the couch or wall (see pic) just fine. 5. Too weak with attachments- I wanted to use this to vacuum my car but the low setting or even high are too weak with the attachments & do a very poor job getting crumbs, dirt & pet hair out of thin vehicle carpet. It got the majority of dirt, but the pet hair & crumbs in the crevices couldn’t be sucked up because the suction is so weak. But when it comes to vacuuming crumbs & hair off my couch, it’s so lightweight I just pick up the vacuum and use it on the couch as if it’s the floor and the rollers get everything up no problem. Won’t be using the attachments much though. 5. Actually does well with thick carpet/rugs - my sons nursery has a very thick shag rug (see pic) that’s almost 3” thick. The vacuum is not anywhere strong enough to pull itself forward on the carpet, but if lean it back a little and use just a little muscle it glides easily across the thick rug (Again I’m 9 mo preggo and I can do this no problem). The rollers get deep into the rug and get about every trace of dirt and hair. 6. Rechargeable battery is nice & imo gives plenty of run time- I get about 40 minutes of use in my mostly hardwood home, during which I have it on high for almost half the time vacuuming thick rugs and my couch.

> 24 hourThis vacuum replaced a 5 year old, heavier and unmaneuverabe Hoover Linx. The Linx was not powerful and the small filter sponge required nearly daily rinsing. This Shark is light years better and everything they advertise and more. The light on the front is indespensible, the vacuum will move in any direction quickly and easily and it will vacuum more dirt off your floors than you ever knew you had! It is lightweight for its power and is easy to change attachments and disassembling it for rinsing out the unit every now and again is easy. Removing the battery and putting it back on it a breeze. I got the vacuum that was sold with an extra battery so I dont have to wait for recharging. We have hardwoods, rugs and tile and it will go over all these without loosing power or stopping. Thanks Shark.

> 24 hourI was a little skeptical about getting a cordless vacuum. My husband was the one that persuaded me to but it because we live in an older house with minimal outlets....so we are always unplugging something to plug in the vacuum. I am so glad he suggested this!!!! We did the research first...dyson vs shark. Was the price difference really worth the $$? I decided to get this shark for a few reasons. 1. removable battery- you can plug it in anywhere and store the vacuum out of sight. 2. attachments that came with it- we have a cat and dog....we clean often and the attachments that came with this make it easy to clean those hard to get (and forgotten) places like ceiling fans, behind doors, and under furniture. 3. it folds down for easier storage- our shark upright plug in vacuum is sometimes difficult to get out of the hall closet with all the coats hanging because the handle gets caught by a sleeve or something. This vacuum handle folds down to store easily under all those hanging coats. 4. lightweight to take up and down the stairs and light enough our 6yr old can use it and maneuver it easily 3. price point was in a reasonable range. The ONLY negative I have found is that the dirt compartment is kind of small......it holds about as much dirt as our Roomba. We have to empty it a lot more often than we do the corded vacuum. Its not that big of a deal but still somewhat annoying.

> 24 hourMy husband does the vacuuming in our condo and he NOW is very pleased with this one. He gave it a 3star because about a month after the purchase one back wheel started with a clicking sound. This did not affect the performance of the vacuum but the noise was annoying. On close examination we could see that a screw was sticking out and hitting the plastic inside frame of the wheel. This also caused the wheel to occasionally drag on the floor. He called Shark support and they would not replace the part but did offer to replace the bottom portion of the vacuum at our cost of $40. Feeling we had already paid a lot for this vacuum we did not want to pay more. So we chiseled out the plastic portion of the wheel that was hitting the screw. The wheel now turns silently! We hope this solves our issue. We truly are disappointed that Shark did not back the poor workmanship of the wheel. Thus the 3 star review... As far as the Shark itself- it is a wonderful sweeper. Being cordless makes it so much easier to move it around our condo. It does an excellent job of picking up dust/debris and the handle folds down so that sweeping under furniture is easy. If the problem with the wheel returns or begins with the other wheel we will get back and add to this review.

> 24 hourWe have a Dyson wireless vacuum that I absolutely love. It’s maybe the second or third iteration of the portable vacuum so it’s an older model. When we bought it Dyson was the only company that made this style vacuum so I decided to splurge and buy it! I decided to give Shark a try now that this style is mainstream because this got good reviews and is a lot cheaper. Dyson has much better suction and just does a better job at picking everything up in one pass. However, the Shark is much more consistent. Our Dyson attachment would always clog or break and stop running in mins of use and there was always some work that would need to be done to get it back up and running. I don’t have this issue with the Shark vacuum. There’s also some handy features - I like that the main tube bends to get under couches. I also like the lights on the main attachment. The overall runtime is better than my older Dyson but maybe new iterations are better at this. I only got about 20-30 mins and now I get about an hour. I will update if anything major changes my opinion but overall, a nice vacuum. Not as powerful as Dyson but there are other factors that make this a worthwhile choice.

> 24 hourReally like this vacuum. Great for a multi dog household and I use it daily. The two cons are not being able to keep the attachments, at least one, directly on the machine. The biggest con would be the shocks. Whew! It zaps quite hard and it seems to get worse as time goes on. I use a silicone oven mitt to keep from getting zapped.

> 24 hourBetter than expected. Converting to hand held was very easy. Lighter than i thought it would be. The power surge was great. When using the entire system, it was so maneuverable, the swivel head was amazing, going around things, I never knew this would make vacuuming so much easier.. And the way it can bend and extend and get under tables. Really nice. My main reason for buying this model was because of my hair. I have long hair that would tangle my old Shark cordless to the point I just got disgusted. Every time i vacuumed I would have to cut away my hair from the rollers at least a few times. I gave up. I did this for 5 years. Never again. This machine worked great, for me anyway. Once i did have a slight tangle, One small snip, gone. Nothin is perfect. All during my vacuuming I kept turning the base over to look to see if it was still rolling and it was! I was amazed! I thought, oh it must be tangled and clogged, it cant be working. But it was. This is a great review from someone who has hair past the middle of their back. The dog hair in my house just fills up the container quickly, it is my hair that caused the problems. I love the way it folds in half to store. Very easy to clean . A little overwheling at first with all the buttons to press to detach and open things, just leave the stcky notes on for a while. Overall, a good purchase.
