Fantastic game, and great price for the pocket edition. The bags reasonably sturdy, as well, which is great. Ive got the full-size game as well that I keep at home, but the pocket game stays in the car. For the money, Pocket easily beats the full size game, which seems huge in comparison (though I do like playing the full size version better).

In my opinion, hive pocket offers the best value for a new player looking to get into hive. The base full sized version comes without the ladybug and mosquito expansions and costs more(!) than the pocket version. As far as the game itself goes, its amazing. Ive probably played it two hundred times over the past several months with various people and it really succeeds in providing the chess-without-a-board feel. I love how portable it is as well, so easy to throw in a bag for a quick game.

Love this game. I take it everywhere. Easy to learn. Fun to play. Quick enjoyable game. I take it out with me when my wife and I go out. I get people asking me all the time what are you playing. Pieces are made with high quality. They feel like dominoes. This is a solid game. Stop reading reviews and get this pocket edition.

We love our regular sized Hive game and wanted a backpack version ( ok its a bit heavy but one of the kids can carry it lol) its the same great quality and will last years, such a great little game and easy to learn. well worth it

I really like the Picket Size. Don’t know why people feel they are too small to play with on a regular basis. The game requires a little study to get use to the moves but then is much easier to play than chess while still challenging. The pieces are well made and cute.

Hive is a great game that you can teach to just about anyone in a few minutes. Many others have reviewed the game itself so I wont spend a lot of time commenting on it. The pocket edition is an especially handy way to have this game with you everywhere. I carry it in my shoulder bag and always have it with me to pass the time. The smaller size of the pieces make it easy to fit a game on a coffee shop or end table. The fact that it includes the expansion and generally costs less than $25 USD means its an even better deal than the full size game. I prefer the colored tiles to the black and white of the newest edition - I dont even need my glasses to play!

Birthday gift for 13 year old. They played for hours with it. Nice size to take a long in the car.
