If you love chess and dont know what kind of game is this, you have to try it.

I like hexes, I like bakelite, I like bugs, and I like abstract strategy games, especially leopard hunt games where you capture by surrounding. Hive Pocket ticks all those boxes, and thats astounding because this game doesnt even have ticks in it. A great abstract 1v1 game with little to no take that factor and a more subdued style of gameplay that positively reinforces cleverness, rather than causing a player to flush red every time a clever move is made. Quality components. The name understates itself - if kept in the plastic sleeve inside the packaging, this game is WATCH pocket sized. The superb quality components, the lack of set-up time, the simplicity of the mechanics, and the intuitive design philosophy that went into each bug and its rules all make this game a classic. But do get the Pillbug to go with this: it makes the difference between 10-15 minute games and endurance matches. I recommend Hive in all its forms, but this one most of all.

This is an excellent strategy game. For reference, go read/watch the reviews on “Shut Up & Sit Down” and believe everything.

Kind of like chess, this is an abstract game that doesnt require a board. You have a few pieces and each turn either place a piece or move one. Each bug (piece) has a different rule for how it moves. There are a lot of options and depth of strategy once you figure out what each bug does. A few times I thought Im finished this round then after looking at the board realized I had 3 options that would keep me from losing.

Pocket size is great. The included bag really does fit in your pocket. Tiles are clicky and colorful.
