Smart Zone Games Hive Pocket

Despite its simplistic look, Hive offers a lot of strategic variety. All the people I have shown this game too have been immediately, whether or not they are into chess. Pocket Hive come with two expansions that add some good variety to the base game.

Pocket size is great. The included bag really does fit in your pocket. Tiles are clicky and colorful.

Bought this game on a whim, the instructions are good and explain the game well, however I’m more of a visual learner so I found a YouTube video explaining the game. It’s fun, kinda reminds me of chess, without the board. It’s a strategy game and can take any where from 10-45 min to play depending on you and your opponents skill. The first few games between my wife and I lasted 10 min, but as we grasped the concept better they were more drawn out. Compact size and pouch made it easy to take one our camping trip last weekend.

If you like abstract strategy games like chess, you will love this game.

Fantastic game, and great price for the pocket edition. The bags reasonably sturdy, as well, which is great. Ive got the full-size game as well that I keep at home, but the pocket game stays in the car. For the money, Pocket easily beats the full size game, which seems huge in comparison (though I do like playing the full size version better).

I bought this as a 2 player game to bring to restaurants or bars or breweries while hanging out with my girlfriend. Since Ive bought it, we have at least played 30 rounds of it. Each round goes relatively quick, taking 10 minutes at max, and its easy to take out and clean up. Any spills on the tiles? Rinse them off! The game is simple to learn, but offers a lot of longevity due to strategy much like chess. I highly recommend it if youre looking for a quick game that you can fit into your pocket to play with your SO when going out.

And travel size comes with one or two expansions so its a better deal even though the price is still pretty high so check for it on sale.

Really fun, quick game for two people. The game is very portable, but the tiles have a good heft to them- definitely do not feel cheap or lightweight. We were able to pick up the rules very quickly, but the strategy is quite complex, and the abilities of each piece seem to be fairly well balanced. Well definitely be playing this a lot in the future!
