> 3 dayI own several SOG knives and have never been disappointed. So, I was somewhat surprised and a little disappointed with the size of the hatchet head. It’s smaller than I anticipated never having seen one in the flesh. Other than that, it is typical SOG quality. The hatchet is very sharp out of the box, the handle is sturdy and the point opposite the hatchet will certainly break windows as well as heads. I have not had the opportunity to throw it yet, so can’t speak to that. Honestly, I bought it to carry in my vehicle as a self defense tool while camping in the wild. It is in that role I wish the head was larger. Overall, I’m happy with it and will keep it. Oh, and the nylon cover doesn’t suck!

19-11-2024I bought this originally because a potential Match date said she wanted to try axe throwing, which is apparently a thing. The date didnt happen (though thanks to this and YouTube, I wont be a total n00b if that kind of date actually comes my way in the future.) For the record, I was too sober at the time of ordering to call this a Drunk Amazon purchase, though that alibi has helped my self-esteem in the past. Once it arrived, I opened it (with the help of a previous not-quite-drunk purchase of a delightful stabby thing) and I realized that its got a very valuable if niche purpose. The end of the head opposite the blade is perfect for breaking safety glass. Seriously. If you watch the cop body cam videos on YouTube, youll see that police batons have a really crap record when it comes to busting out car windows. This bad boy will punch two or three closely spaced holes, and then you turn it sideways and use it as a hammer. to render the window or windshield kaput. So if an accident victim is trapped in a car, you can probably facilitate extricating them with this if the doors are locked. Or, if youre high on mushrooms, you can probably walk through a parking lot and find out if people with Baby n Board stickers are liars. No judgments.

> 3 dayVery first thoughts: Amazing. I bought this Fasthawk mainly for splitting small firewood and for my bug-out bag. Its extremely light weight (perfect for a bug-out), it splits small firewood like nobodys business, and it looks awesome. However, I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because it shipped with a loose bolt. When I use it, the axe head pivoted back and forth. This is a simple fix because I live close to a SOG warehouse, but for anyone who isnt near one it will be more of a headache. It still works fine with the loose bolt, but its annoying and probably not safe. Overall I am satisfied enough to give this 4/5 stars!

> 3 dayI will start out by saying I am a woman and I got this for a few different reasons. One, I have always been interested in non-firearm weapons. I love shooting a bow, so I figured throwing was next in line Two, I often have branches falling in my yard that need to be cut up to put in my fire pit. I have a rather heavy hatchet, but my hand and arm gets tired from it almost immediately. A big man arm and hand would be fine for it, but I am not a man, so the lighter weight of this item appealed to me. I looked at the heavier version, but my friend has one and it immediately felt too big and heavy in my hand. I am really glad I got the 19oz fasthawk. Not only does it slice through my fallen branches like a charm, but my hand and arm dont hurt! When I first went to practice throwing it, I found it light and easy to hold and throw. I quickly became successful at getting it within 6 of my target and lodging the blade or pick into it (a couple trees, and a sawed off stump turned on its side) Even after about 50 throws my arm didnt get tired. The real exercise there is walking to and from your target, haha. Throwing it is really satisfying. You hear the sound of it spinning in the air, and the thunk as is lodges in your target (a hollow dead tree is nice) I got the silver over the black because its easier to find when you miss. They say the black is better if you dont want an enemy to see the reflection. That wasnt an issue to me, as I hopefully will never be using this against a person!! Either way, Ive been leaving it next to my bed in case of a break in (if my 70lb pit bull doesnt chase them off first)

> 3 dayI gave this gift to my brother as a Christmas gift. He was totally excited about it when he opened it...it looks like a top-quality piece of equipment! The only down-side that ruined Christmas: When he opened it, his girlfriend was sitting next to him on the couch. Within seconds, she wanted to hold it. He went to pass it to her, but it slipped out of her hand and fell 6 inches onto her leg. It didnt seem like it fell far enough to have any momentum, but the thing is so sharp that it cut through her jeans and left a bleeding, inch long gash in her leg! We wanted her to go to the ER for stitches, but she decided she would take the scar instead of going to the ER on Christmas day. And yes, she now has a scar.

24-11-2024Unfortunately mine came with what looked like a resealed package. If it was just a damaged package I would of left it at that. But the blade Seemed used from out of the package. Other than needing a really good sharpening and cleaning. I guess its fine. But I was disappointed. Updated: I sharpened the blade, and I put some O rings in the grip slots and that gives it just the right amount of traction on my opinion. So Im bumping it to 4 stars because after that it actually became a tool I use to trim/chop up my front cactus which is huge and has spikes. But Im able to use the back spike to drag those spikey trunks from where I cut them to the curb. So not bad at all. Just needed initial blade care in my case.

> 3 dayI bought this hawk for a thrower. I wanted a light, but forgiving hawk and the SOG has lived up to my expectations. I have struck trees, bricks and the ground many times and this tool holds up well. I recommend this hawk to throwers of all skill levels. All in all just a really nice tomahawk.

24-11-2024I do not give 5s easily but there one major reason. Bought this for my sons 9th birthday and he stuck this thing within a couple of throws. It is a great size for both children and adults. The learning curve in minimal. We do not land every throw but the success rate is perfect for keeping confidence and interest up. Product: The handle does feel a bit slick but that hasnt caused any issues. This handle is tough as nails though, we throw on the end grain of logs and this handle has been taking a beating. The screws which secure the head to the handle have remained locked. If they do ever loosen Id just use some thread lock to fix the problem.
