I have yet to have a chance to use SOG Tomahawk Throwing Axe but I really enjoy it. It’s durable, light weight, crafted well and looks dope. The grip is great and overall I’d get this again as it’s good for any collection or if you are stuck in the wild and happen to have it with you. It can be used for multiple things. It’s currently put in storage so I’m unable to get a photo uploaded right now.

Works great and i love it, but it was not exactly what I expected. My main gripe is the steel. 420J? come on SOG, thats what the liners of decent folding knives are made of. Cant hold an edge worth shit, but hey, 20 bucks...I also though it would be super lightweight but it actually does have some heft to it. sure its light weigh at only 19 ounces, but still, for a guy who hasnt used a hatchet in a while and is used to mid sized 8 ounce knives, it takes some getting used to. Another thing unexpected was just HOW SMALL IT ACTUALLY IS. This thing is small, but in a way, just the right size as well. i tried it out when i got it and was able to split small logs, chop branches fairly easily, and even bust through a couple of flat rocks with the spike. I also tried hammering with it, however i will say that it was a bit awkward. This hawk is definately a capable little tool despite its size and it seems like it will hold up through even hard use. Full tang would have been nice, but whatever, i guess you cant have everything. great hawk, especially at the price point. I mean come on, 20 bucks and a lifetime warranty? Awesome. way to go SOG. Would highly recommend this product. One other thing that might be worth mentioning is that upon closer inspection, i realized that the hawk was actually slightly crooked near the head. I only found out now so i cant say whether it was from the work i was doing (maybe the hammering?) or whether it came that way The handle is perfectly straight up until it joins the head, where it starts curving to the left as if the two prongs (I guess you could say) of the handle that sandwich the steel tang are bent and therefore the steel sits at an angle. But oh well, i dont foresee any problems coming from this in the future. and if they do? Lifetime warranty baby! Hell, even if that fails for some reason, its only 20 bucks for a new one right? I would gladly buy another, these things are great. Overall an amazing product at an amazing price.

This Tomahawk is a great addition to anyones personal arsenal. Light weight, easy to swing, easy to throw and well built. All in all I give this 5 stars. I only regret not buying one or two more, whereas they are great for throwing. It came very sharp and the spike on the back which is also quite sharp is simple and devastating.

I bought this product just to throw it into stumps on vacation in a wooded area. It is not very good steel and dulls pretty quickly, although definitely stays sharp enough to stick into wood when thrown, so it suited my purpose well. For the price it is a good buy if youre looking just to mess around with a tomahawk in the woods or something. I rated it at 4 stars because it has a low price and is effective for that price, although when chopping through wood it dented outward at the metal ring you can see above the handle, suggesting that the head is not as secure as one might like. Would definitely not trust my life to this axe, but it is a fun buy for the price.

i bought this to use while backpacking, so weight was a factor when shopping for this. also, i liked the fact that i could use it as a hammer on my tent stakes. i took it with me on a car camping trip just to try it out and found that when it came to actually chopping a log....it was too much trouble. the blade edge is so small and thin, it wasnt very stable in my hands...i am a relatively big, strong guy and it felt like a toy in my hands. it would twist in my hand and took a lot of effort to chop a small log. i think for small detail work on some traps..spears..things like that, it is great. actually using it while backpacking...i not sold. i will give it another shot, but it doesnt look good. the quality seems to be top notch and the product is exactly what was advertised. all in all, not a bad deal for the money.

    Greater than one week

I bought this originally because a potential Match date said she wanted to try axe throwing, which is apparently a thing. The date didnt happen (though thanks to this and YouTube, I wont be a total n00b if that kind of date actually comes my way in the future.) For the record, I was too sober at the time of ordering to call this a Drunk Amazon purchase, though that alibi has helped my self-esteem in the past. Once it arrived, I opened it (with the help of a previous not-quite-drunk purchase of a delightful stabby thing) and I realized that its got a very valuable if niche purpose. The end of the head opposite the blade is perfect for breaking safety glass. Seriously. If you watch the cop body cam videos on YouTube, youll see that police batons have a really crap record when it comes to busting out car windows. This bad boy will punch two or three closely spaced holes, and then you turn it sideways and use it as a hammer. to render the window or windshield kaput. So if an accident victim is trapped in a car, you can probably facilitate extricating them with this if the doors are locked. Or, if youre high on mushrooms, you can probably walk through a parking lot and find out if people with Baby n Board stickers are liars. No judgments.

I am a Cold Steel fan, and really admire their quality. I also like the American Hickory handles. BUT, this tactical tomahawk is well built too !!! It throws well, and can be very, very sharp. I do have some training with different weapons, and this little baby is no slouch in that department. Its real use comes from the fact that it is almost designed to run along the Molle webbing of my Maxpedition Sitka. It comfortably sits there and wont go anywhere despite a rigorous hike. One small velcro tie, and this wont slip out accidentally - no way and no how. But the velcro strip is easily removed, and this Tomahawk deploys nicely. On dried wood, from the middle of the summer, this will service nicely. It is smaller and will require a bit more effort to get rid of a downed tree, but from a survival perspective - just perfect. I have not pressure tested the handle, but suspect it can withstand a brutish amount of force. It wont come a part on you. I bought mine on a bit of sale, and it was well worth the price. Put this on your wish list, and strike when that iron is hot !!!

Birthday present for my son. It throws great for him so I bought the same one in black. The steel will chip if you strike another hawk while throwing. Great thrower overall. Wouldnt want to use it over my other hawks in carbon steel, but a great thrower for my son or someone slight of stature.
