I love these headphones. I use them for travel, workouts, or whenever Im playing games. The noise canceling is amazing, I barely hear anyone, and live in NYC (where its always noisy). What I love about these headphones is that you get to control the equalizer. In addition the touch pad is amazing. Theres never a lag and it responds well. I definetly recommend these headphones.

Switched to these from the AirPod Pros. For around $100 more the quality difference is uncanny. It’s also nice to have headphones I can plug in to make sure they’re actually charging and not just hoping they did while they’re in their charging case (you could say I’m a bit jaded by apple at the moment). That aside, these are a great set of headphones. I live in the NYC area and things can get a bit loud here. These headphones allow me to tune out the noise while also giving incredible sound quality. I also don’t notice an incredibly large difference between the sound quality in Bluetooth vs wired connection. Finally, while they don’t fold in they do come in a slim carrying case that is of nice cloth quality. It fits perfect in any brief case.

For those worried about either getting this or the previous model. This xm5 is worth it, the only thing is the design which depending on the person can look a little weird but the functions are top tier and the battery lasts so long

These are sick. There’s even a app you can customize your settings and how you want specific settings for when your up and active, when someone speaks to you, or if you just sitting down studying. The volume controls are swiping either up or down vertically. To skip songs, it’s horizontal left. They are very comfortable, HOWEVER after certain times after long wear, give or take 5-6 hours they can get a little uncomfortable but I think that’s inevitable. However as a broke college student, these allow me to stay focus while also communicating with my peers. Trust me, they are worth the money.

I’ve been using Sony noise canceling headphones for a couple of years, going from XM3 to XM5. The noise cancelling quality is clearly better than Apple and Bose. My XM3 lasted 3 years of almost daily use. But the construction of XM5 looks so fragile that I was concerned from the start. And it broke after just a few months. The part over my right ear broke off from the main thing.

I don’t notice any exceptional sound quality with these headphones (to my disappointment). However, I do have an aggravating problem with the headphones cutting out while listening. The headphones cut out an average of every 10 or 15 minutes, which kind of ruins the whole listening experience.

I own the XM4s and Bose QC-35s. First, it should be said the XM4s are superior to the Bose QC-35s in comfort, sound and ANC. I only use the Bose in bad weather because it has manual buttons. The design of the XM5 is a radical departure. Sony opted to provide less padding between the the headband and the top of the head. For sensitive users, like myself, there is a feeling of a bump on the top of the head which is annoying. These headphones also fit tighter, i.e., more clamping pressure. Simply put, to this user, they are noticeably less comfortable as the XM4s to wear. Overall I was very satsified with my XM4s, but I received a unit where the auto-shutoff did not work and therefore tried the newer XM5s. With the XM5s, I was constantly fiddling with them to get the elusive comfortable feel. With the XM4s, I just put them on and they fit like a glove. The XM5s are better than the XM4s in many other ways (8 microphones etc), but for me, comfort is king, something I wont compromise on. Sony copied the non-folding style of the Bose 700s. If it aint broke, dont fix it. In my view this new design is an an unforced error, but Im clearly in the minority with this viewpoint.

I fly often. I use noise cancelling headphones to make my plane time more peaceful and enjoyable. I owned the M4s for a while and loved them, so when Sony brought the M5 to market, I couldnt wait. I was hesitant to pay this kind of money, of course, but I read several professional reviews that raved about them. I will say right up front, I just couldnt hear any difference in the noise cancelling from my M4s. I gave my M4s to my partnerer who travels with me most of the time, so I am able to switch with her for comparison. I just cant hear a difference. But, Im that guy who always wants the latest and the best in tech, so I thought I would be happy. Heres the thing. My new M5s are constantly shifting the noise canceling. Im sitting on the plane listening to relaxing music and it is like they shift from canceling to ambient noise. It lasts for 5-10 seconds, then they shift back. It happend every 5 minutes or so. I have tried turning off adaptive sound control, but it doesnt make a difference. Unfortunately, I went a while without traveling right after I purchased these and so didnt really start experiencing this until a while after purchasing. It is probably to late to return, but I will try. My advice would be to save the money and buy the M4s. They are certainly cheaper and in my experience, much better.

default signature disappointed me but drives are handled perfectly by Eq. you can customize your perfect signature. high mid and tremble are very responsive. muddy in lows and decent but not great soundstage. overall true high res experience.

The sound quality is among the beat I’ve tried. there are 2 issues though, it is extremely uncomfortable on my head which is normal to large I would say and the LDAC bitrate mode selection is not remembered by the device so after each reconnection it is reset to the default mode (which is balanced mode: between speed and quality). regarding the fit, it press way to hard against the skull part and I can’t stand having it on my head for more than 15 minutes. it sucks, I really wanted it to work.
