> 24 hourI enjoy this game so much! My husband is okay with it. He will play it with me but I love it a lot more than him. I like that it is simple and fun and it doesnt get complicated. When we traveled, I put all of the pieces in a plastic index card case and it was small enough to pack. That way I didnt have to pack a huge box. But it worked out great and we were able to take it with us traveling.

> 24 hourReally simple turns but fascinating strategy. You only can do 4 things each turn. Get one each of 3 of the colors (there are 5 white, black, red, green and blue like Magic: The Gathering). Get 2 from one stack if there are 4 or more in the stack. Reserve a card and get a wildcard gold card (i.e. you are the only one who can get the card). Or buy a card. And you start getting a lot of chips and as the game progresses the cards you buy have value so the card you got for 2 red, 2 white and a green could be worth one blue and you can use that blue to get other cards. 15 victory points wins the game and you also have to think of how many cards you earn of what color to get nobles that are worth 3 victory points. I played it at a local barcade and bought it on Amazon when I got home. Absolutely outstanding. Plays well with 2 players and better with 3 or 4 in my opinion. A game you can understand in a few minutes and a rulebook that is only 2 1/2 pages. Sometimes even for relatively uncomplicated games like Dominion they can be dozens of pages.

> 24 hourEasy to learn! We are a bit older (50ish, lol), and we play it with our kids (30ish) It is simple but requires thinking and you never know who is going to win! Which is fun.

> 24 hourLearned about this from friends. Directions are clear but glad they taught us! Lots of strategy. Never the same game twice!! We also purchased the game mat (sold seperately). The game is complete without the mat but it helps organize the cards and takes the guess work out of the placement of the cards and tokens.

> 24 hourI dont write a lot of reviews--but this game is the bomb!!! Played it on a Saturday at game night with family as they were meeting my significant other. First off great game for breaking the ice. Second it is easy enough to get the hang of but once you start playing it just gets more awesome-especially as you add strategy. Only downside is that is is just for 2-4 people but that kinda is an upside too so you dont need a lot of people to play. Bought it as we were playing the game, came the next day. Best amazon deliver yet. :)

> 24 hourIf youre looking for a game that is a little longer than a card game but shorter than a board game, this is a great option. There are multiple strategies and its fun all around. I dont have any of the expansions but have played with them. The base game its self works really well and the expansions add some great facets to the game also.

> 24 hourThis is not what youd call an overly complex game, but sometimes youre in the mood for short and simple. The layout: you have a grid of various cards that each cost a certain number of poker chips (in particular colors) to buy. Cards you buy have gens shown on them that replace poker ships for future purchases, so the more you buy, the easier it is to buy more. More expensive cards require saving up a bit, but are worth victory points. Each turn is simple: you can take 3 chips of different colors, take 2 chips of the same color from a pile with at least 4 chips, reserve a card (adding it to your hand and also taking a wild chip), or purchase a card, placing it in front of you. In other words: not a lot of room for analysis paralysis. The components are very nice; while theres an iOS app available, I think youd lose a bit from not having the physical game. Even though I usually go for complex brain-burners, Im a fan of this game. It may be worth trying before you buy - its not particularly popular in my primary game group, for some reason - but I rate it a buy. At a time when Im downsizing my game collection, Splendor is one that I was happy to add.

> 24 hourThis is a seriously light game. I cannot explain it, but I really love it. Splendor is the most simplified version of an engine building game out there. In the beginning, you cant afford anything. While playing, you get more powerful and use the gems you bought to but more powerful gems. There are some strategies that will win over others almost every time, but there is enough luck left in the game that any new player could potentially beat a seasoned player. Anyway, not only is it fun, but it is fast. If you know what you are doing, it can finish in less than 30 minutes, and very often, we decide to play again right away. Now, this belongs in the Play with the family category. I would not bring this with me to a board game night with my friends. You might, and your friends might thank you for it, but for us, this game is a waaaay far on the simple side to spend game night on. Also, there is another game called Century: Spice Road which I think is a bit more fun and feels a lot like this game. They are different enough to have both in your collection.

> 24 hourI was wary of purchasing after the negative reviews, but I read one review that gave hints on how to tell if it is a good purchase and not cheaply made. They said that the Space Cowboys logo should be on the back of the box, not the front, the promotional pamphlet should say 2017, and the rulebook should say produced in France. I checked my box, and the logo was on the back, just like they suggested. So I opened it up. Everything looks really good :) The promotional pamphlet did say 2017, but the rulebook did say published in France. :) I guess these are the clues to whether its authentic or not. :) Good luck! :)

> 24 hourThis is probably my go-to game whenever I want to introduce new players to the engine-builder style of game mechanic. Theres a lot to like about this game. For starters, the components are of good quality. The tokens have a hefty feel to them, akin to weighted poker chips. The cards and artwork are decent. And the game itself is fairly straightforward. Its as easy to teach as it is to learn. This is often compared to Machi Koro and Century Spice Road. While they have similar game mechanics I feel they are each unique enough to justify owning all 3. But of the 3 Splendor is usually the first I introduce to new gamers. Overall, Id rate it 5/5. No complaints from me. This game will have permanent residence on my gaming shelf.
