A little bumpy to learn for younger kids but after a few turnes the entire family loved this game.

Fun game - easy to learn, easy to set up and clean up. Great to play with people who arent gamers. A bit expensive for what it is.

If youre looking for a game that is a little longer than a card game but shorter than a board game, this is a great option. There are multiple strategies and its fun all around. I dont have any of the expansions but have played with them. The base game its self works really well and the expansions add some great facets to the game also.

My 7th graders enjoy this game and will choose it as a free time activity frequently. They choose it more often than Century Golum ed.

I love games, and have many, but this one is my current favorite!

What a great, casual game. It is really quick to setup, easy for new gamers to understand, but still provides loads of strategy. The nobles rarely come into play when playing to only 15 per the official rules, so our house rules are usually set such that you must get 21 and have 1 noble to win. It makes the game last a bit longer plus provides some additional strategy opportunities. The game itself is well made. The cards are thick and well printed. The chips are well weighted and feel like poker chips. They feel great in the hand and are fun to play with. Overall, a great game. Highly recommended.

Heres how this went down. My friend brought this game over to play with my girlfriend and I. He explained the rules to us in about 5 minutes, which for any hardcore gamers out there, youll understand just how short that is; the rulebook is a one-pager with cover art and story, so you can rightfully assume that the game mechanics are NOT complicated like some other games. We then played a full round; I dont remember who won, but the very next thing I did (before my friend finished packing up the game and left) was buy this game. Immediately. After one game. Thats all it took - its superficially simple enough to master the mechanics instantly, and the strategy has an unexpected depth that has made this an immediate favorite of mine. The manufacturing quality is a really nice touch. The chips are satisfyingly weighty, and the cards have a nice finish and feel pretty durable. The box interior is a nice layout too, where all of the pieces fit in after youve unpacked everything and stay where they belong even when lugging the box around to get more people addicted. Id say the packaging is second only to Smallworld, which (for those of you who know) has the most fantastic box organization of any game Ive ever seen. This game is incredibly addictive, and appeals to a large audience. Its got enough strategy that hardcore players like me can enjoy it, and is simple enough that casual players can come in and pick it up without getting overwhelmed. Its less complicated in terms of rules than Settlers, which is arguably the upper bound on casual player difficulty. Each game runs about 30 minutes. Seriously, just shut up and buy it. Its a great game. Well worth the money.

This game was a spontaneous purchase for me but my friends and I enjoyed it right away. Ive played probably half a dozen games in the couple months Ive owned it. We even gave it a go with just two players and found it scaled down very nicely. One thing that did hinder our first couple games was the instructions werent that well written. However, we got the gist of things and realized that the purchased cards counted towards your resources and made things in the 3rd tier possible [we originally thought it was a typo that something required 7 of something]. All in all - the game played well and tested our strategy skills a little trying to out-maneuver our peers. The game cards/tiles themselves are solidly made and the plastic chips have quite a bit of heft (which makes for some intense noises when your opponent slams their chips down to claim a card you had your eye on). I did like the artwork style, and would love to see more cards made in an expansion pack of some sort. As far as long term replayability, there is indeed a fair amount of randomness in the card draws as well as what your peers will do which helps with bringing us back to play this again. It also depends on the people you play with, beware of those sneaky players who lie in wait and then steamroll you at the end.

This is a modern classic board game and is popular at our house. Apparently there were quality issues a few years ago but the game I received it 2021 is great. Enjoy. I hope this has been helpful.

I found out about this game from a friend who taught me the basics on how to play, but I was always losing so thought Id buy my own copy to practice up for next time we play, lol. Maybe then I wouldnt lose so badly. Anyway, the game package I received was exactly the same as what Id been playing with my friend, and contained plastic poker-like chips for all the gems, playing card-sized cards, thick cardboard noble cards, and nice colored paper rulebook. Game box has plastic insert to keep all game pieces organized in their own slots so game setup each time is quick and easy. BTW, this is definitely a thinking- and planning-ahead type game so be prepared to put on your thinking cap as you learn the basics and over time how to master the finer points of winning in as few turns as possible. Good luck and enjoy the adventure.
