> 3 dayNice quality pieces and cards, easy to learn, and a lot of fun to play. I bought this because I was looking for two player games and this one has been my favorite out of a handful of others I bought. Its got a well balanced game mechanic and there are a lot of ways you can approach winning the game. Highly recommended.

20-11-2024The game at its core is very simple but trying to play optimally still has depth which makes it easy to play but hard(ish) to master best played casually. Very easy to setup, fast to start and rounds that can end quickly add to the replayability. Wished Id be able to play with more players. Cards are a bit sturdy, tokens feel nice (as much as a plastic chip can get), and has some pretty colors and drawings although it may fall behind the more artistic games. Definitely not on the portable side and even a bit bulky. Product arrived as advertised.

> 3 dayMy husband and I love to play games. Most of the games we play are for more than two people so we have to get together with another couple. Not this one! We love playing Splendor together after the kids go to bed. Its one of those that you can also throw a movie on and play while youre watching a movie. We love this game. Bought the expansion pack too, so were excited to try that!

> 3 daySplendor is a pretty simple resource based game. You can teach all the rules in about 5-10 minutes, and a round of play only takes 15-20 minutes. Also, the materials are very nice quality, and well packaged. The cards are a smooth, and nicely laminated, and the coins have the weight and evenness of real poker chips. Everything fits nice into the box. For more serious board gamers, I wouldnt recommend it, as there isnt a ton of replay value, since its fundamentally the same game each round, but generally speaking, its a fun, strategic game that doesnt require too much time commitment.

> 3 dayThis game is excellent! It plays fast, is quick to figure out, and has multiple paths to victory. Both the more experienced and casual members of my gaming group have enjoyed this game. Even better this game is very quality in construction. The coins are solid and fun to handle, and the cards have good artwork. The plastic molding in the box also matches the components perfectly, which sounds like a silly thing to comment on, but so many games out there do not have very good storage for components. Almost every new coworker that Ive introduced to this game has requested an immediate re-match, which is just about the highest praise that you can give a game! I only wish it could accommodate more players (although I realize that would slow things down and wreck the balance)

> 3 daySimply put: one of the most fun strategy games I have ever played. My introduction to Splendor was through a friend that loves board games. He brought a few over when we were on vacation in his area, and my kids simply went nuts over Splendor. In fact, my youngest daughter (now 12) was the big winner over the next few days as we played it over and over again. In short, it is simple enough for a child to get a strategy going. The premise is simple. You are a burgeoning gem merchant during Medieval times. You start with nothing, but slowly build up your gem business through gem sources (mines), gem transportation and improvement cards (ships, camel trains, cutters, polishers, etc.) and merchant locations. In the game play, you buy cards with coins or gems. Each card has a gem on it which counts as your own permanent gem buying power. Some cards also have point values that count towards your victory point total. When you get enough gems, you can gain royal benefactors, which each give you 3 additional victory points. The first one to get to 15 wins. While the order of the deck can influence the play of the game, this is primarily a strategy game. As the majority of your players cards are revealed all the time, as well as their bank, you can easily craft your game to get around any temporary unlucky breaks caused by the deck. I like this game best when playing with 4 players. With fewer, you are more likely to end up with empty gem stacks or gem monopolies, especially if the other players are not as good at strategy. With 2 players, it can get absolutely cutthroat to the point the game is no longer fun to play. A good strategy for 4 players can end with a loss with just 3. Very good replay value, as the card shuffle alters the game just enough to make it completely different each time.

> 3 dayIts a fairly simple (but not overly simple) game that involves trying to build up your point bank by matching collections you make along the way of different element colors. On the easy side (near the early parts of play) you start with the need to one of each of three colors, or two of one and one of another. Then when you get into later play, you might need 3 of one and two of another, etc. You dont have to concentrate so much, so you can socialize and snack without difficulty.

> 3 dayThis game is fantastic for a low barrier of entry board game. It is very quick and easy to learn. I have taught many people who would not consider themselves to be board game players how to play this in less than ten minutes. The rules are simple and intuitive. The strategy is not so simple. There is a ton of depth to the strategy and a few, different strategies that are all viable. Also, strategies dont go stale as they are highly fluid and you never become stuck in one no matter how you started the game. There are no guaranteed win strategies as all players are all playing from the same resource pool. This allows interactivity with very little in the way of hurt feelings. If you are looking for a light or intermediate resource strategy/collection game, this is what you are looking for. Your hardcore gaming group will get plenty of enjoyable sessions with this one, but you can also introduce new players to the hobby with a game like this. Finally, the component quality is very high. The cards are hardy and the chips are heavy and have great hand-feel.

> 3 dayMy friend took this game to my place a couple weeks ago, and I fell in love with it right after playing the first time. The cards are well printed and the coins have good quality. Although I know this game price might go down to around $20, but I couldn’t wait to have it. I have been playing it almost everyday since I got it.
