> 3 dayMy husband and I love playing this game multiple nights a week! It’s fairly quick 20-30 mins. It’s competitive and strategic without taking what pressure brain power you have left at the end of the day.

> 3 dayWe play this all the time with our kids, as young as 6. However, the instructions say to play the game to 15. We have found this to be dumb, as it take the higher tier cards and the nobles almost completely out of play. We play to 20 and require at least one noble to win. This extends the game by may 15 mins, but requires you to use the entire board. Enjoy!

21-11-2024This game is pure strategy. There are 3 different options for each turn. Such a fun game.

> 3 dayMy son bought this game and I played it at his house. I liked it so much that I purchased one for my house. Couldnt wait for it to arrive and it did in less than a week..... but, when it arrived it was obvious that it was not brand new. While the pieces I side were still sealed in plastic, it was dusty and even though the box was also wrapped in plastic, it was damaged. I was disappointed, but liked the game too much to send it back. I did not order a second hand game.

> 3 dayWhat can I say, my board-game hating sister LOVES this game and begs to play it when we visit. My nephew LOVES THIS GAME, he is NOT a gamer. My grandmother foams at the mouth at the mention of Splendor at family reunions and holidays, shes rabid for it. To give the game a bit more oomph and pizzazz, we bought some stones/jewels from a Saturday market, some old fools gold nuggets, and some velvet colored bags my mom sewed to hold it all. It really impresses when compared to the junky tokens included in the standard game.

> 3 daySimply put: one of the most fun strategy games I have ever played. My introduction to Splendor was through a friend that loves board games. He brought a few over when we were on vacation in his area, and my kids simply went nuts over Splendor. In fact, my youngest daughter (now 12) was the big winner over the next few days as we played it over and over again. In short, it is simple enough for a child to get a strategy going. The premise is simple. You are a burgeoning gem merchant during Medieval times. You start with nothing, but slowly build up your gem business through gem sources (mines), gem transportation and improvement cards (ships, camel trains, cutters, polishers, etc.) and merchant locations. In the game play, you buy cards with coins or gems. Each card has a gem on it which counts as your own permanent gem buying power. Some cards also have point values that count towards your victory point total. When you get enough gems, you can gain royal benefactors, which each give you 3 additional victory points. The first one to get to 15 wins. While the order of the deck can influence the play of the game, this is primarily a strategy game. As the majority of your players cards are revealed all the time, as well as their bank, you can easily craft your game to get around any temporary unlucky breaks caused by the deck. I like this game best when playing with 4 players. With fewer, you are more likely to end up with empty gem stacks or gem monopolies, especially if the other players are not as good at strategy. With 2 players, it can get absolutely cutthroat to the point the game is no longer fun to play. A good strategy for 4 players can end with a loss with just 3. Very good replay value, as the card shuffle alters the game just enough to make it completely different each time.
