> 3 dayI love this game! It’s complex enough not to get boring but not too hard to learn. I could play hours every day!

> 3 dayA must-have game for any gamers collection. This game is almost always the very first game we pull out when introducing games to a new gamer. Why? Its simple to explain and uses familiar concepts of set collection. The cards are neutral enough in theme that its not going to put off anyone who prefers traditional card games. It also has quick set-up and plays pretty fast with 2-3 players. This makes it a game we also pull out when we have time for just one more short game before bedtime or when we want to squeeze in a lighter game in a more hectic day. We tend to prefer longer, more complex games when given a choice, but this is still one that ends up making the table at least a couple times a month - more if we have family members coming over for a game day.

Greater than one weekIts a pretty big hit with my friends who enjoy tabletop gaming. Very easy to learn, but tough to master. Every game I have played has been close, especially for two player games. Lots of room for strategy while keeping luck and decision making balanced. The 30 minute playtime can often extend past that especially with competitive players who suffer from action paralysis and overanalysis. This isnt a game with lots of social interaction, this is a game where everyones eyes are glued on the board, and each other. I would have liked to be able to play with one more person, but thats not a big a deal. Ive brought this game to parties, and people have gotten annoyed at losing 2-5 people to this game. You essentially choose one action each round which fall into the categories of get tokens or spend tokens/resources to buy more resource-providing cards. Sometimes they give points too. First to 15 points win. Pacing in the game is pretty good. Right when you have your resource engine and things start coming together for key plays, someone will most likely be near the 15 point goal. The end sometimes just comes out of nowhere. Its a pretty pricey game for what you get. The components are nice, and first time players always comment on how nice the poker chip resource tokens are. They feel good in your hand and have a nice weight and feel to them. The cards are a good stock as well. The box itself seems too big and clunky for the actual game. It also does a poor job of holding everything as the tokens and cards frequently spill out of the grooves and end up mixing if the box is ever placed upright. I want to say the game is overpriced, but the components are just so nice you cant blame them for putting a price on quality.

> 3 dayThis game is so fun! I wanted something that my 12.5 year old son and I could play that WASN’T monopoly, for the nights when he has no tv and he’s driving me crazy. I would suggest playing a test game of two hands by yourself (that’s what I did) before you try and teach your kids because it took ME much longer to get the hang of it, than it did him. I was easily able to correct his play this way, without referring to the directions and slowing down the game. There aren’t SO many rules that it’s hard, just that reading them once isn’t enough. But once you play a few rounds and check yourself with the rules, you’ve got it :) We finished a 2 person game in about 40 minutes. He immediately wanted to play again. I thought it was dang fun playing by myself too. It’s a win!

> 3 daySorry to say we havent gotten to the expansion yet, BUT splendor itself deserves more than 5 stars. We got it 3 years ago and its still a go to.

> 3 dayMy brother was ranting and raving about this game so I got it as his secret Santa. Bought the expansions at a Forbidden Planet but the base game on Amazon. Its really not so complicated and its so much fun. Honestly I lost my first 5 games until I started winning every other game. Its way more fun with 3 or more people but 2 is fine. Eventually we moved the victory condition of 15 prestige to 30 so newer players could have more fun. Board came in great condition, no scratches or anything missing. Expansions for me feel too similar to the base game to bother, but my brother likes em so what do I know.

> 3 dayReally worth the money. This is a fun game with easy set up. Our 7 and 8 year old play with us and enjoy it. A friend brought it over and the 8 year old liked it. I played and didn’t quite fully get it until half way through but ended up winning. This is definitely a strategy game and allows for learning how to have a plan but also be flexible and pivot…no one way to win. Very fun.

> 3 dayMy family and in laws enjoy playing boards. We play Catan, El Dorado, Trains and other similar board games. This is hands down my new favorite. Most games with 4 players are finished in about 45 minutes and the more you play the more layers of strategy you realize this game has. The game is simple to learn and even my 9 year old son enjoys playing with us. Weve introduced this game to a couple while we were on vacation for Independence Day. They enjoyed it so much after one weekend they bought it for themselves. Stop reading this review and go buy this game already!!!

Greater than one weekThis is a fantastic game for fans of resource-management who dont have the time to commit to Settlers or want less fiddly pieces for set up. The rules are simple and easy to pick up, but it will take a play-through for you to formulate your personal strategies. I would recommend getting thin sleeves for the deck of cards to allow for protection while not getting in the way of frequent handling/flipping - I personally went with Ultra Pro penny sleeves since they use not as thick plastic. The nobles tiles are thick and sturdy with great color and detail in the printing. My favorite part are the plastic jewel tokens - they are not too large but of hefty weight and feel substantial. Stacking them up and idly toying with them as you contemplate your next move will give you a fantastical sense of being a devious and rich merchant. The clacking sound they make when shuffled on top of one other is perfect!
