> 3 dayFun game to play with the family. Only takes about 20 min to play so we often play multiple rounds. Quick and easy to set up and put away.

> 3 dayMy friends simply can not get enough of this game. I was first introduced to it in Australia & after months of being away decided to purchase it on Amazon. The price definitely seems to fluctuate on it, so keep an eye out. Essentially youre a gem lord building an empire of mining facilities. You pay gems to purchase these mining facilities. Each mining facility then counts as a one-discount of that type of gem each time you purchase something in the future. As you build up your infastructure (or engine), you can purchase more expensive cards & points. First to 15 points wins! Each turn you can do one of three things: 1) take gems from the bank. Three different types (1 ruby, 1 emerald, 1 sapphire for example) or 2 of the same (2 sapphires or 2 rubies) Note: there must be 2 gems remaining in the pile if you do the 2 of a kind option. Ex. there are 4 sapphires in the bank so you could take 2 sapphires. Ex2. there are 3 emeralds in the bank, you cannot take 2 emeralds because this would leave less than 2 remaining in the bank. 2) purchase a card (mining facility) by paying the cost at the bottom of the card 3) reserve a face-up card on the board. You take it and can purchase it on a later turn instead of taking your regular turn. You also take a gold gem which is used as a wildcard gem in lieu of any gem requirement. Watch your opponents & predict what theyll do! Ease of learning: takes me 5-10min to explain the game Gameplay: quick. People take turns rather quickly Skill: both novices and experts can play. The game is highly dependent on what the other players do in the game. The 2-player version involves the most skill as its mono-e-mono Build quality: high. Smooth, nicely weighted gem tokens & colorful, easy-to-understand cards

> 3 dayA game with simple rules that is easy to teach to non-gamers in order to attract new players into boardgaming as a hobby. That is the definition of a gateway game. Splendor is exactly that as it is very fun and simple to play. It is also a game that is very quick to setup. This game offers various ways to go about playing the game. Do you focus on buying cheap cards or save up for the more expensive one? Each tactic has it pros and cons but each game is also different based on what cards are showing at the time. The components are great for how inexpensive the game is. The chips are relativity heavy and already come pre stickered which is a plus. This is a game that I do not see myself ever getting rid of and is a must buy, whether you are already into the boardgaming hobby, looking to get into the hobby, or just looking for a fun game to play.

> 3 dayGreat game, easy to learn and play (if you pick up games well) My mother-in-law never seemed to grasp it, even though she got second place. lol. But I guess a lot of her choices came from the other players and myself. It said 30min play but it took 4 of us 1 hour the first time. Mainly due to reexplaining the game and rules over and over and over. This was my first time playing but honestly it not that hard to learn. I got 3rd place by the way. My strategy was flawed, its really about getting the cheaper cards and building up a base of free gems. I won the second time against the person who got first in a one on one game. Playing to 15 sounds like a lot but once you have that base set up you can go from 0 to 15 in 5 or less turns. You can literally get 7 points in 1 turn.

> 3 dayWhat a great, casual game. It is really quick to setup, easy for new gamers to understand, but still provides loads of strategy. The nobles rarely come into play when playing to only 15 per the official rules, so our house rules are usually set such that you must get 21 and have 1 noble to win. It makes the game last a bit longer plus provides some additional strategy opportunities. The game itself is well made. The cards are thick and well printed. The chips are well weighted and feel like poker chips. They feel great in the hand and are fun to play with. Overall, a great game. Highly recommended.

> 3 dayIve played this around 10 times now, and I am definitely a fan. It was fun with 4 and 2 players (I havent tried with 3 but imagine that would be just as good). Its been tough to figure out a good strategy, but figuring that out is most of the fun for me. One of the players did well by reserving all of the high point cards early, and didnt build his board state with the early cards at all. Once we realized what he was doing, however, we could stop him. So, all kinds of strategies/counter-strategies to try out. The cards are a bit on the thin/flimsy side, though they have a nice coating that should make them fairly durable. The gem chips (basically poker chips) are nice and heavy. Overall, the components are solid.

> 3 dayI gave Splendor as a Christmas gift, and the wife and I played 4 rounds New years Eve, we almost missed the ball drop! Reading the instructions and setting up the game, we both were not sure how to play, but by the 3 turn you have it. And then its superb! There are lots of different strategies to try, and multiple paths to victory. After a few turns to figure out what you are doing, it makes sense and is intuitive, but allows for complicated planning and strategy. The artwork is well done, and the quality of the cards and coins is excellent. Set up is easy and the container has a well thought out organizer. Great family game!
