> 3 dayThis game is so fun! I wanted something that my 12.5 year old son and I could play that WASN’T monopoly, for the nights when he has no tv and he’s driving me crazy. I would suggest playing a test game of two hands by yourself (that’s what I did) before you try and teach your kids because it took ME much longer to get the hang of it, than it did him. I was easily able to correct his play this way, without referring to the directions and slowing down the game. There aren’t SO many rules that it’s hard, just that reading them once isn’t enough. But once you play a few rounds and check yourself with the rules, you’ve got it :) We finished a 2 person game in about 40 minutes. He immediately wanted to play again. I thought it was dang fun playing by myself too. It’s a win!

> 3 dayThis is a great game! Ive so many good things to say about it. The pieces are sturdy and well crafted. The weight of the gem pieces make you feel like youre actually holding something of worth, which makes the game even more enjoyable. The instructions are simple. New players pick it up quickly, and theres a minimum of dickering about the rules. The game uses a great mix of luck and skill, so a complete newbie has a fair chance of doing well against a seasoned pro. There are lots of viable strategies to win, so the gameplay doesnt get stale.

> 3 dayWe host a weekly games night, and have over 200 games on the shelf. I mention this to let you know that when I review a game, I have some exeperience with games. We all have different tastes in games, so I will try to let you know why I have the opinion that I do about a game. Splendor is easy to teach, plays fairly quickly and isnt too complicated, which makes it a great introductory game for people who arent used to real games. That said, it has enough complexity that it fits in nicely for people who are used to playing more substantial games, which is a nice bit of balance. It wont be the core of your game collection, but it deserves a spot on your shelf.

> 3 dayWe are a family of game players and everyone took to Splendor quickly. It is hard to find an effective strategy and that is impacted each time based on the cards that come up. The write up on the box is a bit goofy but the game is fun. It says 2-4 but we played with 5 and it was doable but a real challenge (you end up running out of some of the chips) and you have to change your strategy. Not super easy to learn if you want to win but if ou have someone who has played you will pick ip up in 2-3 games.

> 3 dayWe play this game NON-STOP! My wife and my 4 kids (ages 6-11) all LOVE this game! My 6-year-old is always asking me, Daddy, can we play Splendor? So kids clearly love it. Adults love it too. This has been the most played game in our house since I first played it 4 months ago at GenCon with some friends, and then bought at copy for my family when I got home. Weve probably played it more than 100 times since August...and Ive won about 40 of them! Bwaahahahaa! I highly recommend this game. We have lots of games in our house, and this one is definitely in the top 10, likely in the top 5. Be aware, though, that only 4 players can play at a time. We have 6 in our family, so we simply bought another copy of the game, and it scales just fine. I would assume that you could expand up to 12 players and the gameplay would still be good. If youre still not sure, then check out Tom Vasels review on The Dice Tower: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF-I44_EF7g Summary: --Top notch components, with fabulous art. --Easy to learn (great for parties). --Fast, smooth gameplay. Each persons turn is usually around 45 seconds or less. --Multiple ways to achieve victory. --Buy another copy if you have more than 4 players.

> 3 dayThis is another good little Gateway game that will play in less than 45 minutes game with four players. Its good at all player counts and does what its supposed to do. Thematically its hopeless. Youre gem dealers doing what gem dealers do and thats the end of the theme. I think thats the one sadly lacking component of the game and that youre doing stuff to be doing stuff to get points but it really doesnt matter what stuff youre doing to get stuff if you know what I mean. Aside from that quibble gameplay is simple and streamlined in that you can only take one of three actions on your turn and that really speeds things along. You may get stomped here and there until you adjust to the flow of the cards but once you do you should be roughly competitive in most of your games

> 3 dayThe rules are fairly simple and quick to learn. Games can be played in roughly 30 minutes. I am only giving a 4 star rating because I think the potential is there for the game to eventually become formulaic with a fairly defined path robotic path to victory. If I am wrong and still playing this a year from now I will come back and modify. The game is also available in digital version but there is not PC based platform it is compatible with which for me is a deal breaker.

> 3 dayThis is such a good game! Fun for adults, but also for kids. I played it all the time and my 7 year old cousin wanted to play and within a game he knew what he was doing. I just got him his own so he can play even more.
