There is a wonderful front and back cover that can be decorated. The binding helps it lay flat. The color is a little more ivory than white. There is a texture to the paper, but it is light. It has accepted just about everything Ive done to it (basic supplies like: Micron pens, inks, watercolors,pencils, charcoal, markers, etc, etc) and the only thing that leaks through are Sharpies and Copics. This is the paper I go to every time in all different sizes. I love it and recommend it to anyone, especially for drawing or sketching.

Great paper thickness and holds up well in water

i love this journal. the paper feels great with my pens and its nice and thick. ink will deff not run through this bad boy. its way cheaper than what they are listed as at hobby lobby.

I bought these for myself and each of my kids for nature journaling on a trip to the Rocky Mountains and after nature walks at home. They are on the large side for young children, but mine prefer a larger canvas to work with so we hauled them in the backpacks anyways. It worked well with watercolors and watercolor pencils. These are a little expensive, so you might want a different journal for aimless doodling and markers, keeping this one for specific purposes. And if your kids are left handed like mine, just have them use the journal backwards or horizontally to avoid the spiral binding.

Im awful at watercolor but enjoy creating them anyways! This is a great watercolor journal its a big size, Strathmore also makes a smaller size as well should you want one a bit easier to pack and go. This journal is sturdy and works well for mixed media but it is watercolor paper so if youre not going to be using predominantly water color, then check out other Strathmore journals. These are not perforated theyre for leaving bound like an art diary. Im a frequent buyer of this brands paper products for my art projects theyre always high quality and affordable. One last thing the paper comes off of the cover leaving a nice glossy sturdy brown cover which you can decorate or leave alone. I also recommend the kindle unlimited books on watercolor for those new to the medium such as No Excuses Watercolor which has good tips and ideas thgthgat even experienced crafters will find enjoyable.

Paper has texture and is quite good watercolor paper for the price. I prefer professional but this does a very nice painting if you dont work too wet.

This art journal/sketchbook is heavy duty and beautiful. The paper is thick enough to paint on but smooth enough to write on. I can’t wait to fill it up.
