> 3 dayI bought this to go with an older, incandescent Surefire 6P tactical light and Im very happy with my purchase. The G2X Pro Dual Output light features 2 power levels, low & high. On the low setting its plenty bright for locating things in a dark house, garage or finding a dropped bolt under the hood of your car. But on the bright setting it will wash out even the Surefire 6P Xenon bulb. The 6Ps Xenon bulb is very bright and will wash out the brightest of Maglites beams by way of comparison. The G2X will light up things over 100 yards away quite nicely. Switching from low-to-high is easy. Push the tailcap button and you get the low power beam. Release and reactivate within 2 seconds and you get the bright high-power beam. If you push the button hard it will turn on the light in its current mode until you push the button again so you dont have to continuously push on the tailcap button. This isnt a cheap light and it shows in the construction. The body is a Nitrolon polymer thats not as cold to grab as aluminum and nicely contoured for a good grip. The head is machined aluminum with 6 flats to prevent it from rolling easily. The push button on the tailcap is rugged and sealed. The beam is pre-focused so unlike Maglights you cant switch from spot to flood style. But there is plenty of light output. Cons: Uses 2 CR123A lithium batteries which can be expensive. But you can buy a dozen for between $18-$20 via Amazon at the same time (recommended). Because of the high output capabilities, battery run times can be very short (read the descriptions). These are intended for short, periodic uses (i.e. police tactical flashlights, search & rescue, etc.) and the head/lens area can get too hot to touch if left on for extended periods. Mine is in basic black which is hard to find in the dark. For emergency kits Id suggest either the Yellow version or the Orange Fire-Rescue version as they are easier to see in low light.

> 3 dayThis is basically the cheapest LED Surefire light you can buy. That does not mean quality was sacrificed at all. This flashlight is bomb-proof. I wanted a tactical light for home defense, but chose this light because I wanted to use it for other purposes besides blinding intruders. Because of this, the light does not have a tactical tailcap. On the tactical versions, you press the tailcap for a blinding light. Let go, and the light turns off. If you want it to stay on, you twist the end until it turns on. Untwist to turn off. I knew this model didnt have those features; however, I can still accomplish the same goal. It just takes a little getting used to. On this model, you can press gently for the low power mode. Let go and the light goes off. Press harder to click on until you click off. Press again within two seconds for high power. And again harder to click on and off. This is where you lose the tactical edge. I was really hoping that the high power mode would be first. Even though it isnt, you can still train to get close to what you want. The instructions say click on and off, then again to get to high mode. You actually only have to push until the light comes on. You do not have push hard enough to click it locked on. This means instead of clicking on, off, then on again with three clicks. You can gently press twice(not far enough to hear the click) and very quickly get high power. Just be careful not to press too hard to accidentally click onto the low power mode. With a little practice, it was very easy to operate the way I wanted. Other than that, this cheap Surefire is an amazing light with crisp even light distribution and will probably outlast me.

> 3 dayLights are only 2 types, soft low and blinding bright, which is great. However, the clicking button is LOUD. Not a fan of that in a quiet house and a burglar finds out where Im at because he can hear me click before he gets blasted. Other than that, the light seems very durable. Ive not had it long enough, but the old metal Cree tactical lights Ive had for about 6-7 yrs are still working, still tough and has a quiet button, as well as a strobe, which this SureFire does not have sadly.

> 3 dayI bought a 6px for a shotgun mounted light prior to purchasing this. I keep this one in my truck and the performance is equal to that of my 6px. It feels slightly lighter, and the bezel and components seem to be identical. The only difference I notice is the plastic for the battery housing (whereas the 6px has aluminum housing). You really cant go wrong with a surefire. Would trust my life to this light. If you want to mount it to something that recoils, you might want to go with a higher model from surefire.

> 3 dayMy favorite LED flashlight. Not too expensive but very sturdy and bright. I really like the low/high tail switch - its pretty idiot proof which is always a help when one is fumbling around in the dark. The body is not abrasive so you can hold it in your mouth if needed w/o grinding on your teeth.

> 3 daySolid light that has never let me down. Finally bought another to replace a previous G2X series unit that I unfortunately lost somewhere in the Cascades.northwest of Winthrop last year. I debated about buying a more powerful SureFire but in the end I got a case of the cheapies when I realized that this one served me well for about 95% of what I needed it to do. The only serious knock I have with the G2X is with the chassis; despite its ample texture it can get somewhat slick in the wet, so a swath of grip tape is still a mandatory thing for me. My old unit took a beating and kept on running like a champ; I really expect this one to do the same and so far it has. It survived a drop to the garage concrete slab (about 3 1/2 feet) and aside from a slight scuff is no worse for the experience. A minor quibble is that this light does have a center hot spot to its beam that sometimes I wish could be dialed/focused outward, but something like that likely wont be as affordable at this level of built quality.

> 3 dayThis thing is really durable. I threw it on the ground in a parking lot during work to show my coworkers how durable it is and it just caused a small dent. No function was damaged. I trust Surefire on any of their products and I would have no problem using this as a weapons light as well. The light functions are fantastic and bright. This is very affordable for a fantastic quality and I recommend anyone who wants an affordable, durable, and powerful flashlight to go with Surefire and this flashlight. Be it EDC, Weapon light, or Duty light it will serve all these purposes.

Greater than one weekI currently own three of these flashlights - for my car, home, and mobile toolbox. Its a great product that puts out an amazing amount of light (in fact, the low setting is sufficient for many tasks). Its built like a tank, yet is lightweight to carry. As it uses primary lithium cells instead of alkaline, worries about leaking batteries are eliminated and shelf life is significantly enhanced.
