> 3 dayThis is our second TP-Link WiFi Access Point. Our home has a large, central masonry structure which blocks all WiFi signals in specific corners... of course, the ones where you want to be able to cozy up with a device in an easy chair. After trying to get by with a variety of fine WiFi Routers alone, then with signal repeaters, we decided some extreme measures had to be taken. Fortunately it turned out that the measures were not extreme at all! We already had run Ethernet cable to network streaming devices, so adding a Ethernet splitter at the right spot, and utilizing the TP-Links Power Over Ethernet adapter to send power through the Ethernet 6E cable, we were able to choose exactly the right locations to put access points. Since this is made for a business environment, the capabilities and security options for this device are far beyond what we need for our home, but it is reassuring to know theres potential there and the control software accessed through the web browser is phenomenal. Setup is easiest ion standalone mode, but later adding paps is simple and the resulting coverage even lets me take a device outside the house at some distance. The ceiling mounted installation is also very simple and really unobtrusive once operational.

Greater than one weekI got this for its ability to seamlessly roam. But the signal strength is so good it covers pretty much the whole house. I’m not sure I’ll need to make use of that feature. The UI is a bit more simplified than the Mikrotik it is replacing — that is probably a plus for most people.

> 3 dayLike the product very much. Seemless installation. One donside is that mobile app is extremely minimal. For any real configuration must visit web client. One real donside is the shape. Unless youre sure about you installation skills and have a laser you cant really align it perfectly square, so Ubiquitys round design is better. But this one is more pronounced and in my opinion better to install in visible location. Overall really pleased. PS have not tested on real 48V poe but with provided adapter works without issue on pretty long cat5e cable. Recommended 100% especially for price. Dont buy the transformer routers just get a decent business one and youll thank yourself

08-06-2025I see some reviews complaining about the complexity or tech savvy needed to setup these WAPs using the Omada Controller software. All I can say is these people have obviously never had to deal with Ubiquitis Controller software. Compared to Ubiquiti this controller software is an absolute breeze to use for initial setup and network mods and additions. Granted, you should have at least A LITTLE network knowledge to be setting up your own WAPs anyway. Took me 10 minutes to download the latest software and firmware, name my SSID and set passwords. Five minutes later the WAP was up and running. Also, later in the day I decided to add a second WAP in another part of the house. Using this software, it was stupid easy...literally one click to add the second WAP to my network. Just WOW. So far coverage and uptime have been everything I was expecting and more from this hardware. But, just to mention again, its the software that has TP-Link beating Ubiquiti hands-down for setting up a straightforward home WiFi network.

Greater than one weekCan only do one network at the time, but who needs more than one. Wait, I do, so I can segregate networks... but it works great.

> 3 dayTP-Link makes some great, affordable products and this is definitely one of them. This was very easy to set up and provides a wide range of signal for both 2.4 and 5. I am very satisfied with the AP and recommend this product.

> 3 dayI have a detached garage and on the far end of that is a room addition with a bedroom. The Wifi signal from my office barely reaches that bedroom so the Roku TV and my Fire Tablet have issues connecting. I used a Wifi extender which was easy to install, just plug into an outlet in my garage, but the software setup was very difficult despite the claim of just hitting the WPS button on my router/modem. It disconnected all the time and I had to hold down the factory default button and start the configuration process all over again. Finally, I just tossed it and decided to go with this WAP. I bought a nice outdoor, weatherproof ethernet cable, drilled a hole through the wall of my office and ran that ethernet cable to the corner of my detached garage. Then I ran the cable internally down the length of the garage to the wall adjacent to the bedroom. There, I found a convenient outlet to plug in the POE injector, which I mounted on the wall. As others have mentioned, the drywall anchors included in the kit are acceptable, but I had better ones in my workshed. I needed 5 total which took screws a bit larger than the ones in the kit. I also mounted the WAP on the wall as well. I had a spare, short ethernet cable, which was not included in the kit. The ethernet cable from my office plugged into the POE, the short ethernet cable goes from the POE to the Wireless Access Point, which shines a green light and that was all it took. First, I plugged the long ethernet cable into the wrong port on the POE but when the WAP light did not turn green, I just did a switch and it was fine. Next was configuration. I used my laptop to connect to the default signal and log onto the WAP using the web address in the quickstart manual with a temporary ID and password. After that, I got a prompt to make a new WAP ID and password, which I did. Next, I was prompted to set new SSID names and Passwords for the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz radio channels. The WAP timed out for me the first time, so I had to go through the steps again, so I recommend you write those IDs and Passwords out ahead of time to speed things up. When the new SSID names and passwords were entered, there is a pause while the WAP configures and everything was set. I just had to locate the new Wifi signals with my devices in the bedroom and put in the new login credentials. As this is a home application, I did not bother with all the business configurations. Very easy. I still have clean up to do as I am going to dig a trench to bury the ethernet cable inside of grey 1 PVC. This will also dress up the outside wall of my office and garage with grey PVC junction boxes. I will get wall connectors to attach the ethernet cable to the inside of the garage as right now it is just sitting on the garage floor. Yes, this is extra work, but the end result will be much more reliable Wifi than the Wifi Extender that I previously used.

> 3 dayThis works very well inside our home. I only use this WAP for a single access point and it works quite well, much better than my previous WAP. Id definitely recommend this for light home/office use.
