I have tested many budget wireless routers trying to find one with good 2.4ghz wifi in the $40-80 range. I have used Linksys, Asus, Netgear, TPLink and many other home grade routers. My house is not even very big, but wifi signal was close to -70dbm on the second floor in one bedroom and also the bathroom. Had been thinking about going to a Unifi setup and almost pulled the trigger on a U6 Lite. But the price and needing a Unifi controller to get the most out of the setup made me hesitate. Saw reviews on the TPLink Omada and APs and many positive reviews. For half the price of a U6 Lite with POE included it seemed worth a try. I have a Proxnox server running 24/7 with OPNSense VM as my firewall/router so adding a VM to run the Omada SDN controller software was easy. I had all the WLAN settings configured before the EAP225 even arrived at my door. Once I had it plugged in and adopted, it only took a few minutes to be fully up and running. Running speedtests on laptop and cell phone and right off the bat download and upload speeds were very impressive over anything I had before. The real test would be the bedroom upstairs and the bathroom and it didnt disappoint. Wifi signal was about -60dbm. The signal strength and range was really good. Before I bought the EAP225 I had thought I would need to run two in mesh, but after testing for a few days now, just one EAP225 is working for all that I needed. Almost all the reviews for the EAP225 are for the V3 version and that is what i thought I would be receiving. However I was sent the V4. I didnt notice any downsides to this. So probably not a big deal. Overall very satisfied with the EAP225V4 so far. Im really liking the Omada ecosystem and who knows, I may get the itch to get another EAP225 or a EAP245 in the future to try a mesh setup. Definitely looking forward to see if I can get even more improvement out of the TPLink Omada products.

Love how easy the setup was, although definitely was surprised how much larger it is compared to the previous EAP225/245 models.

I had an old unifi AP AC and an AP AC lite one on each floor of my house. I bought unifi because I work at an IT company and thats what we get for our clients. I was a little disappointed with the speed/range so I thought Id give tp link a try. I was very impressed with both the speed and range both of which were considerably better than my more expensive ubiquity equipment. The controller software seems to be a direct ripoff of unifi. Thats not a bad thing since unifi is awesome for the controller. The Omada controller isnt as pretty bit has most all the same features and installed easily on an Ubuntu server VM. Time will tell if TP Link provides as good support as Ubiquity but overall I am very impressed.

Its a reliable, higher performing and cost-effective AP. It does a great job in my setup and Id recommend it to anyone with basic networking knowledge. My old home router (a Buffalo with DD-WRT firmware) had antennae that were falling apart and causing lots of dropped packets over Wifi. I had originally intended to replace the entire thing with a higher performing router/firewall and separate APs, but that ran beyond my short term budget. So, I purchased this, disabled the radios on the router, and configured this in its place. I still have the option to develop a more elaborate network later, but this gives me the wireless performance I need now while also extending the usable life of my current router.

After doing months of research, speaking with a business rep with TP-Link I made the switched from Ubiquiti which was due to the never ending price hikes, The lack of inventory and very poor Ubiquiti support. This Omada platform is a game changer and like all software it will continue to grow to meet the demands of consumers and business. Tom and Mary has been the greatest with speedy assistance and response. TP-Link has some new hardware coming as well that will easily meet the needs of my larger customers so I am trying to contain my excitement but its not working very well as i keep checking the site daily..lol Thank you TP-Link for making great products and excellent support team. You have a customer for life!

I just got this Access point and to my dismay the POE is 100mbps. Really in 2019???

This AP is relatively easy to install and setup. PoE adapter is included in the package, but it also supports standard PoE ethernet switch. One cable and you can put where you want to install Setup is relatively easy with Omada app. However, you can only change Wi-Fi name and transmitting power. You have to get the AP IP so you can do further setup. An affordable Wi-Fi AP with relatively easy setup

Have it mount on the ceiling and standing right under it. Running the bandwidth speed test, getting around 70ish mbs upload and download. While the cable company modem upstairs gets 230ish, while standing in the same spot.
